That's why i can concluded that the end of the novel Serena couldn't kill Martis because Death wanted his D, Serena can't kill him without Death consent instead Serena went to kill Death then proceed to kill Martis but that also gave her a curse for her to live immortal life in Julios because death already cease to exist, all according to Martis scheme ploy.
