Jian ran as fast as he could to his home without even realizing he had left behind the warm noodles the owner had kindly packed for him. As soon as he reached their house compound, he slowed down and adjusted his hair. His grandpa might panic if he saw him like that. His breath came out in huffs.
'I need to start working out…' his heart was resolute. He was going to take taekwondo classes from now on. Even if it cost a bit of money, he was ready to spend it.
Taking a deep breath, he entered his dreaded house.
A slipper flew to his face. he hurriedly dodged it. "you swine! How dare you get home so late! Where were you roaming around huh!!! Do you know what time it is? my Bian is starving!!"
Silently with his head lowered, Jian entered the kitchen. His grandpa had already bought all the veggies last week for their family. it was enough for the night's dinner. he quickly gave them a wash and made a simple dinner with a rice dish, a soup, and two side dishes. They could not afford meat because of their family income. But any time Grandma brought some from their neighbors she would give them all to Bian.
Jian licked his lips. 'I should start to hunt again. I need to build some muscles. Vegetables alone is not going to cut it,'
He secretly ate a few mouthfuls of rice and left the dishes on the table and returned to his room. He did not wish to see their loathful face any longer.
Bian watched the small closet-like room close behind his brother. 'He is back... what took him so long? That Nansich didn't find him? Why is he so useless? Should I give him my address… no that would be overkill. The wang family will come to adopt us soon. I don't want any bad rumors about our family spreading.'
He sat down at the dinner table and ate the dishes with a slight frown.
"Eat well my child. You have lost weight recently," his grandmother sent him a few more side dishes with a sickly-sweet smile. He never liked that expression on her face. It was never genuine to begin with.
This woman was so wretched. In the novel, she was one of the side character villains. She tried to kill the twins when they were young but she later chose to raise them when she realized they might be a rich guy's children.
'So annoying,'
He smiled her way. "You should also eat more grandma." He clipped a bit of vegetables into her bowl.
"Oh, my baby grandson you're always the best." She happily ate the dishes.
"Grandma…I... I want to talk to you about something,"
This caught her full attention. "What is it dear,"
"It's about Jian… he... he is acting weird. The school ended a while back but he came home so late... I even sniffed a bit of cigarette smell on him. I think he might be going astray," he whispered with a worried frown on his face.
'I have to get rid of his influence on people. For that, I need to cut him off from society.'
"What!!" she shot up, slamming the table.
"It might be a misunderstanding!" he helped her sit back down. "He might have started to have some bad influence in his life. I will talk to him and help him out. you don't have to worry about it."
"That won't work! Ill deal with him right away!" she stormed out of the dining room stomping hard.
Bian smiled widely. 'I didn't do anything much.'
He heard the muffled sounds of someone being hit.
With a bright smile, he ate the food. 'This guy really has a knack for making good food.' That morning his grandma had made food but it tasted so bad. He could barely take a bite. 'Tsk never underestimate the main character. They have so many hidden skills.'
He happily listened to the sound of kicks and muffled groans. 'See what happens to you Jian. This is what happens when you go against me. Without me helping you, how can you live on? How can you survive in this house…'
His grandma returned with a huff. Her white straggly hair had puffed up slightly. "That roach is a fucking menace." Grumbling, she sat down.
Bian looked at her in shock. "Did you hit him, grandma?! Why! I told you it was just a misunderstanding!"
"Misunderstanding or not! He needed to be punished!"
Bian shot up and ran to Jian's room. "Brother, are you okay? Please open the door," he knocked loudly.
But no one answered.
he lowered his head with a smirk. 'You will come to me eventually. I'll make you lower your head and lick my feet like a dog...'
Jian sat up straight with a slight grin. He had been listening in on their conversation for a while now. He had heard what Bian had said.
Before his grandma could come into his room, he hurriedly stuffed a few pillows in his blanket. he hugged them tight. When she kicked him, she was actually kicking the pillows. He was not at all hurt by it.
'This Bian is getting worse by the day. Maybe I should fight back. being so docile is not going to help. Who should I start with... Bian is too strange. I'll start with my dear, dear grandmother,'
Jian grinned widely. 'The game begins.'
