Before Lucius's old friends and classmates woke up. He was the only one to be conscious among the sleeping bodies that formed a near perfect circle around an altar. No one by his side to accompany him among one of the most arduous two weeks he had yet to face. Harder than the projects he faced back in his former world. Facing the realization that he left many people he knew and loved back in Earth, he Lamented, further degrading his already shaky mental health.
As Lucius looked behind him, trying to distract his mind, and took upon the view of a strange sight. Where people, most he knew, some he didn't. Forming a circle around an altar, on it contained two crystal tablets. Feeling curiousity he approached the altar.
When he tried to take hold of the two crystal tablets. A strange event occurred, where by both ends of the altar, a pillar of black showed itself. In the blink of an eye the pillars disappeared, in the wake of their disappearance. Suddenly stood two tall hooded statues with closed wings behind the statues backs. It seemed as if they were alive.
After witnessing the arrival of the Angel like statues. Fear and dread slowly crept up on Lucius's mind, feeling threatened and afraid of the statues. He began to slowly back off, keeping his guard up, holding his weapon tightly in the case one of the statues attempted to attack him.
But as he backed off, something enticed him to come closer to the altar. His mind soon became blank, from trying to leave the altar in fear of the statues. Now he took a step forward, that looked as if his fear of the unknown suddenly disappeared. As soon as Lucius took three steps forward, his survival instincts took control of his body. Feeling and remembering as if someone or something took control of his body, he became ever so cautious. Showing great mental strength.
After Lucius withdrew from the altar, he heard voices, attracting him to the altar. As he looked around his surroundings trying to find the source of these voices. He found nothing, as his sight returned to the altar, this time he felt something pulling him, the pull was so strong that the next thing Lucius knew he was infront of the altar. Then a voice, different from the ones that tried to lure him earlier, rang in his head.
"The ring child, take the ring, wear it and you will get your answers." The old voice said to Lucius. Not being able to resist the order of the voice, he took the ring, hidden among the two crystal tablets. As soon as he wore it, the same old voice appeared.
"its been too long since I last talked to someone, and hello otherworlder. Welcome to Lenius. Your new home." the old voice said happily welcoming Lucius's arrival to Lenius.
"Who are you? More specifically. What are you? Were you the reason for that blinding light that brought me and my friends here?!" Lucius asked furiously to the voice as he frantically twisted and turned trying to find its source.
"Ahh where are my manners and please calm yourself. My name is Lark, Saint Lark, the Saint of Creation. To answer your questions, I'm a human that ascended to the realm of the divines. Well I was but as you can see I'm just but a meager ring now haha. For your second question, yes, yes I did. I sent out pulses of energy to different worlds that formed tablets like the ones on the altar, if it recognizes people worth of its attention. It then proceeds to transport them here to Lenius. You waking up just after arriving is a proof of that. You are someone special." Lark answered with pride and interest in his voice.
"Send me and everyone else back to where we came from." Demanded by Lucius. "No can do. Someone activated the runes engraved on the Tablets, identical to those crystal ones. I even put a warning" Lark the voice replied mischievously.
"Accept the fact now that you are here. There is no use lingering on your former world. This is your new home whether you like it or not. What matters now is how to survive, you might not return to your world. But at the least try to live your fullest in this new world with new opportunities." Lark voiced sternly.
"besides, I didn't say there wasn't a chance for you to return, you just need vast power." Lark mentioned, offering Lucius a goal that he could chase after. "Now as you seem to have calmed down I will tell you about this world. Think of me as your guide."
"As I have mentioned. We live in the world of Lenius, the amazement and fear on your faces as you bore witness to my Nephilims. I guess that you and your companions come from a world with dormant and hidden magic?"
"Magic? Words of fairytales?" retorted Lucius. "Haha I appear to be correct. Well do mind this world has magic, near every single living thing has magic, the air, water trees, grass, nigh everywhere and everything." Explained Lark to Lucius.
"It comes with a catch though kid. Only those who are not restricted by their instincts can really use and put that magic to their limits. An animal can evolve and grow to use magic, but for it to grow that magic and get to the peak, it needs to be freed from its instincts. It's rare for that to occur, but you will see animals that can use magic, in the world of Lenius they are called Magical Beasts. Becareful of them child, with your meager power and and the level you currently stand. You will die." The voice warned Lucius.
"Why are you telling me all of this? What do you have to gain?" Lucius uncomfortably asked. "Will you kill me if I take this ring off?"
"No need to be so wary. I was once a Saint when I was alive but I am nothing more than a harmless little ring, butterflies are much more deadly!" The voice said in response. "You have the potential to reach where I left off! Possibly even ascend to be a divine! Why wouldn't I help? Your earlier awakening compared to that of your companions proves this! With your death, beings of the uncorrupted would lose a great asset. Besides what's so wrong with having me as guide? I may be chatty at times but I possess great knowledge of this world. I've lived for 18 millenias kid. fancy way of saying 18,000 years!"
"So you're just a ring? You can't harm me, you can only talk to me? But what about those statues, the one you called nephilims? Can't you order them at any moment to kill me?" Lucius becoming more suspicious by the second.
"I am only a ring, a ring that can protect your mind, from diseases, and even acts as a storage space, trust me a lot of things can fit in this ring. And no, even if I wanted to, I can't. Before I died I set those nephilims to guard those crystal tablets permanently, mind that those things have the power of an Arch Magus. Do not try your chances against them."
"I might have only met, or heard of you just several minutes ago but I will put my trust in you, even if all you might be is a result of my slowly degrading mental health."
"Now. Enough of your questions, the most important thing now is to survive, the pulses I sent out also brought back items that are essential for each individual. So retrieve them and secure yourself, dying hungry, cold, wet would be bad now wouldn't it?" Suggested the voice.
"Even if you didn't say anything I'd already have that in mind." Retorted Lucius. "If you really were human? What was your name when you were alive?"
After Lucius asked the question on his mind, all he heard was silence, a loud silence. When the voice fully comprehended the message of Lucius's question a sigh escaped. "You should really listen to what people say child. I already mentioned it earlier, so let reintroduce myself again. I am Lark. Saint Lark, the Saint of Creation. I lived for 18 millenias, fancy way to say 18,000 years if I remember correctly. So what about your name? I'm the only one introducing myself here."
"I apologize for that, and the name is Lucius, you can call me Luke, or Luc as many people call me." Lucius said sincerely.
"Luke it is then, now Luke. Start retrieving the items from the boxes and start making shelter."
After Lucius fetched all the items from his box, he made his way over to the nearest person next to him, it was his old friend Roel. Trying wake him up but couldn't even get close to his skin. "You can't wake them up yourself, when they are transported here an energy automatically wraps around each one of them, protecting them from any external threats. Even a High Sorcerer can't touch a single strand of hair. Same for the boxes, you can only wait. But don't mind as this one and 10 more people will wake up in the next 2 weeks. It really depends on all their strength and talent for magic." Said Lark after he understood what Lucius was trying to achieve.
As Lucius heard the reason behind this, he tried lockpicking the boxes. "Smart but that wouldn't achieve anything." Lark said to Lucius ingenious idea, but an idea that ultimately failed. "it was worth a shot."
Soon Lucius went to a spot some 200 meters away from where he was previously, there he made a small shelter, by felling a tree, that he put long sticks, and leaves in as a roof. Dug up some dirt of his small shelter, split the smaller logs, that he made as his temporary floor. A better alternative than to sleep on dirt. As Lark silently watched Lucius finished creating his temporary home, he commented. "You're quite adept at this, have you done this before back in your old world?"
"Yes, but back in my old world we could just buy an already made Tent, when we go out in the wild we could just assemble it. Same for everything, you see Earth, my old world was a world built thanks to science." Lucius answered as he finished the fire he started, being cautious to not start a fire.
"A world of science huh? That world sounds like a treasure trove for Mages like me." Lark said starting to feel curious on Lucius's world. "with everything set and ready to go, why not go hunt for food?" Lark advised.
"My camping and hiking pack has 5 days worth of food, water is the only problem." Lucius briefed. "There's a pond some 800 meters south west from here, you can get your water there, with this I think your first days are gonna be easy no?" Lark said as he congratulated Lucius.
"Yes, yes it would I'd just have to wait for a couple weeks until some 11 people wake up right?" Lucius asked as he directed a question to Lark. "Well yes, get some food, live and wait till people wake up, well after this batch of people waking up, you'd have to wait for another time until everyone wakes up. I'll guide you in that 2 weeks, so do not worry in the case if an encounter with a Magical beast." Lark convinced of Lucius.
Now with a shelter, food and a location to gather water from. Lucius's first days on this new land would start off good. Now all he had to be careful about were the alleged magical beasts that roamed this world.
