Chapter 8 - Memories

'So after learning how to speak with you in my mind, what now? Will you teach me other spells. Back in my world, fantasy books always had some kind of elemental spell, an example would be fire, water, air and earth. Is that the same here? I can cast some fire ball if I know the chants and gestures?' Asked Lucius, woefully ignorant of how magic worked in the world of Lenius.

Feeling offended of Lucius's thoughts on how magic possibly operated. The old Saint couldn't help but reply in annoyed voice. 'Your opinion of magic must be low Luke. To answer your question, No. There is no elements, can you use your magic to create these so called elements? Yes, yes you can. Having said that, there are what we call here specifications. An example would be Creation, the one I am well versed in! It's in the title. Saint of Creation, mind you that I am also the first Saint of Creation.' Fearing that Larks boasting of his prime would overtake the important topics, Lucius interjected The old Saints ramblings.

'Is that all? Are there other specifications? I don't know, maybe destruction? I've read my fair share of fantasies back when I was a young teen. And those stories always had something in common that magic has some focus regarding destruction.'

'Yes, there are other specializations. I apologize, I got caught up reminiscing of my past haha. For one there are other specializations, an example would be yes, Destruction, creation, and physical are the most popular ones. There are many many more specialization that are unknown and semi popular ones like healing, catastrophe, and mind. Just that they aren't that popular though but more like these specifications need more knowledge than the former.'

'I think I understand. For all we know as I'm an otherworlder I might be able to create a specialization that is unknown in this world.' Replied Lucius now understanding the versatility of this magic.

'Right again. You know back before I was even born, there was the story of an otherworlder, they had no magic, but had some kind of energy that allowed them to strengthen their bodies. And Allowed them to infuse magical energy to their weapons or body parts. Which subsequently also resulted in the creation of another sub specialization for the those who specialized on Physical, though it was meant for the Physical specialization, other sorcerer with different focus also found its uses in other areas. That allows Sorcerers, be Physical, Destruction or Creation. That makes it so that others can absorb energies of these so called elements! A different specialization like a destruction Sorcerer can absorb fire energies, process and strengthen his destruction magic. Do mind that no matter what magic you might specialize in a full 100% specialization is almost near impossible, so do not fret if you want to try other options. While for a Creation Sorcerer they can absorb the corresponding element energy needed for his activities wh....' Seeing the look on Lucius face, he couldn't help but pause and ask. 'Do you get what I'm saying here Luke?'

Listening to all what Lark said brought about new knowledge to his mind. Though Lucius hadn't tried it out himself, listening alone revealed to him that the magic of Lenius was powerful. A power that could possibly lead to many many opportunities. This time saying aloud. "Although I haven't yet to try any of this myself, the possibilities brought about by this magic is limitless. So, where do I start?"

Touched by Lucius's statement, the old Saint now stopped from his ramblings and responded to Lucius. 'It is touching for you to feel this passion for magic. If you know, then I will teach you magic of the novice level, though not everything as all that would do is subject you to pressure. Ohh! I apologize but most magic I know is that of creation so teaching you destruction or other form of magic, other than creation might be a tad bit difficult haha!'

'I see no problem there. I myself am more of in line with creation, along with physical.'

'Great! Well before I teach you actual magic and spells. What I will teach you is a technique on how to temper your Core. In laymans words, I will teach you on how to absorb the magic around us, along with absorbing so called elemental energies. To power your body.'

'As you once lived in a world of science Then I am sure you know that humans release sweat from small little holes right? A unique trait of our race. It's what makes us humans special. Now imagine all these sweat glands opening and absorbing magic, absorbing elemental energies.'

'Us humans are pretty much the master race Luke!'

Knowing that he himself lived in another world, a fantasy world. Lucius couldn't hold himself and cut-off The old Saint. 'Sorry to disturb you, but don't other races exist here? Like I don't know, elves? Orcs? They're humanoid races so doesn't that mean they can sweat too, and possibly even absorb magic from pores? Do mind we call them pores back in my old world.'

'Correct! Yes there are other races other than humans that have these pores you call. Yet only humans have the ability to practically bathe in sweat.'

'I see....' in Lukes mind the conformation of Races, different from humans brought him excitement, but not long after a great sense of sadness and dread overcame him. Feeling dizzy, and not wanting to fall over. Lucius quickly took a seat on a wooden stump where a mighty tree once stood.

'Surprised to hear that other races exist? Haha. Wait till you meet dragons Luke!'

'Calm down and we'll start the process. Shouldn't take you that long Luke, a few minutes Or a couple minutes. Just focus and concentrate your mind you should feel some warm particles on your skin then you can ope....' Astounded at what he saw, The old Saint was speechless.

While Lark was explaining the process on how Lucius could absorb the magic through his pores. What he didn't know was that Lucius was already on the process of absorbing the magic through his pores. All on his own, without the instruction and help of another.

'Amazing Luke. You didn't even listen to my instructions, yet you managed to do it on your own!'

The praise of the old Saint brought Lucius a sense of confusion. 'That was it? Well that was quite easy though Lark.' Hearing Lucius's statement made Lark speechless. 'Easy? Easy.... Wow. That is the first time I heard someone claim this as easy. This was the training method I devised while I was alive... You could say it was my lifes greatest achievement, and only those who were my close associates, friends and allies knows of this. They know the method, but only a few of those who knows can even put this technique to use! And yet you call it easy... Amazing, talented ones really are a different breed.'

Lucius trying to change the topic asked. 'So what now? I learned this so can I do spells or the like?'

'You could always use magic, us talking within your mind is proof of that. I just thought that the logical thing to teach you first is a way on how you could absorb magical energies first.'

'Teaching you with my words alone would be too tedious. Especially as I have no body on how I could demonstrate magic. So if you agree I'd show you portions of my memory, memories that contain how a person could utilize spells?'

Lucius was surprised that sharing memories with magic was possible asking. 'I consent, also include the way on how you could share your memories to others.'

'Very well Luke. Don't get too engrossed with it, as there are times that people who witnessed the memories of others became disillusioned that they lived it. That they were the one in the memory,so be cautious child.' As the old Saint said this, memories started to flood Lucius's mind.

What Lucius saw was an aging man in white cloak explaining how to form a sword with magic. 'Here you can see the molten metal I took out from the forge. What do you think now that we'd do with it?' then a voice from the crowd spoke on the side of Lucius sat a beefy man. 'We hammer it to shape?'

'No! Ofcourse not we're in the creation focus, the most obvious things to do would be to use magic.' When the aging man retorted Laughs erupted from the crowd. 'Ohh quiet down! Without creation magic. We'd have to go to blacksmiths to make our staffs or swords. So quiet down and be thankful for blacksmiths you ignorant brats!' Then the laughs and noise quited downi.

'Now shut up the lot of you and look at how I form a sword with my magic!' as the aging man said this he put his hand over the blob of molten metal that soon started to float, and form a shape of a sword, a sword with beautiful insignias and signs, and a luxurious hilt. The crowd then applauded in cheers and praise.

'Beautiful isn't it? Well that's its only function. To sit pretty on some pedestal or wall. As you have seen me form it, you will now form your own. Channel your magic and visualize what you want to form. Imagination is key. The more you think about the schematics, perfecting the little things alone could help you form a perfect weapon.'

'But a sharp weapon is nothing but just a vessel for different kinds of enchantments, and runes that could be added. A perfect vessel that can be inscribed with the perfect additions will make the perfect weapon.'

'learning this is just the start. To be a real Sorcerer of creation. One must know how their creations interact with one another. You can't just create a mountain in the middle of nowhere. The ground might collapse, you can't just create a building in a lot. There needs to be a innate foundation. A sorcerer that specializes in creation must understand how his or her creation interacts with the environment. Only then will a sorcerer be recognized as a Sorcerer of Creating, but before we can achieve that. We will start with weapons and tools these are the foundations of a Beginner Sorcerer of Creation, the creation of a tool or weapon is the start.'

After the Aging mans sermon finished, Lucius saw the way on how to proceed. As he comprehended the mans teaching, the soon started to fade. In an unknown amount of time Lucius witnessed several memories of different spells. From how to channel magic to his body parts, different magic that would prove useful for creation. And how to share memories with one another.

As Lucius awoke from his stance like state, he immediately asked Lark. "I think I get it, if I have the necessary materials I might even be to recreate things from old world!"

'How was the experience? From viewing those memories? Weird?' Asked Lark, taking precautions if anything changed to Lucius's way of thinking.

'Nothing much that I can feel. I just viewed an aging man teach a room of possibly students as though I could listen and watch. I couldn't move, as if I was viewing a point of view of a person, like tagging along.'

'Aging man? Did that aging man had white robe and a staff with a cross on top constantly roam around?'

'White robe yes but the staff I didn't see. But I could hear something whirling around the room or hall that I was in'

This time the Old Saint said in a low voice almost whisper like. 'That's weird... That could've been me, yet your view and story sounded as if you were among the crowd...'

"I was. So with what I learned I think I could probably quicken the tanning process of the hide. So while I try and do it, are you interested in viewing my memories about my old world? You've always showed great interest in it Lark." Said Lucius aloud as he walked to the Hide rack.

'I wouldn't pass that opportunity up Luke! Your world has really fascinated me when you mention something about it, so I wouldn't mind seeing this near utopia of a world of science!'

After a short time of properly doing the spell on sharing memories. Larks vision then soon started to change, wandering where he was he looked around. But different from his past experiences of visiting memories. This one was different. He could move. However as the old Saint looked around what he saw in his eyes brought him great surprise. A beast of metal, roaring with great power racing through paved roads. Then to his side, he saw a humongous metal bird. With fire spewing out its wings in a steady rate. Then it flew high up in the air until it was only a small white dot.

The old Saint was amazed at what he saw, though he couldn't use magic here. But he could still feel it, he could feel the magic within him but everywhere else there was no magic. His sparking magic was like a torch in the abyss of nothing. "It really is a world of science, all of these has been achieved through constant innovations. A light produced with no crystals, a human talking inside a translucent glass. Truly amazing." Next thing all The old Saint saw was memories of different machines performing different tasks. A craft piercing through space, and a memory that shouldn't have been included. Seeing all those contraptions without the help of magic really gave him different perspectives.
