Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Saline began to search a few of the ways the scent led but they were all dead ends. None of them led to her daughter. She would howl every now and again so that Daniel would be able to find where she was. She knew it would take him a bit to get there. If he was even listening or not. He could have not heard her at all. He could not care one bit too if he had. So she kept on searching and howling for the mere hope that she would find her precious child. As the darkness grew, her worry did as well. She wouldn't leave her daughter to perish in the night, no matter what. She was going to find her. "Saline, what happened?" Daniel spoke as he approached. "For Fuggs sake! You scared me and it's Alessia. She's missing. She wasn't in the den when I returned. She must be starving and terrified. I can't seem to find her correct scent. It leads all over the place."

She said frantically. "Okay, Okay, Calm down sweetheart. We'll find her, I promise. I won't let anything happen….to either of you." He stated so serenely. She questioned if he ever panicked.

Alessia sat in the tree waiting. Growing scared that she may never be found. She didn't know when she had fallen asleep or how. She was so scared before and her dreams weren't that much nicer. She awoke when she felt herself being lifted up by her scruff. Mother? She questioned sleepily. Before sniffing and realizing it was not her mother's scent. She began to squirm. A low chuckle came from whoever was carrying her. "Calm down, little one. I'm not going to eat you." He said. Alessia stopped moving for fear he might change his mind or was tricking her and actually planned to eat her if she didn't hold still. She watched where they were going. Trying to get a glimpse of something. She was very curious about everything. Mother never really took her too far outside the den. She always said it was too dangerous. They reached their destination once the strange wolf whom she could not see finally decide to run. Things went by so fast and it was kind of cool aside from the fact that she was stuck with this stranger. They arrived in this cozy den and he set her down ever so gently. 'Don't go running off now little one. You're safe here. And who knows what kind of trouble you'll get yourself into out in the dark of night." He said before grabbing and tossing over a small bone. Mother never let her have bones. She always wanted to try it. She hesitantly crawled towards it mouth-watering. She watched him as she approached it, finally getting the full view. He didn't seem so dangerous. She pounced on the bone and began gnawing. No longer able to contain herself. She began rolling around and playing with it as she chewed. He sat back and watched with a small smile gracing his features. After a bit, she began to tire again. He saw this and voiced aloud, "Alright youngin, time for bed." He made up a nice spot for her to lie down and coaxed her in. She yawned and asked, "Will you take me to Mother when it's no longer dark?" He sighed and responded. "I will do my best to help you find her now sleep. He lay a few feet away from her and just closed his eyes when he felt something press into his side. She had curled up next to him and drifted off. He huffed and went to sleep himself, not bothering to move her.

"Daniel we need to find my baby! If anything happens to her... it'll be all your fault. You made me late coming home and now she is out there somewhere." She cried. "Yes, I know but I will find her. Don't worry. It'll all be alright." He nuzzled her muzzle. She flinched back in surprise at the affection. For a moment she thought he looked hurt. As he should be, she thought. "My bad, sweetheart. I forgot you don't like me." He smirked and began walking off. Well if he was going that way and be like that she was gonna go the other way. She needed a minute to get over what he just did anyway. She began sniffing the ground after thinking over and over again if she had the right reaction to what he did. There was no way he had feelings for her. He was just playing with her emotions, had to be. She picked up a scent. It couldn't be. She sniffed again, a few times. She found Alessia's scent. It led to a tree with a hole in the bottom. She looked in. She wasn't there. She sniffed the area and picked up a fading scent. It was Alessia and some other strange scent. She followed it her thoughts frantic about what happened to her pup. Someone has stolen her. She ran.
