Jenner stepped onto the Tower's edge, his eyes fixed on the horizon. He had barely taken a few steps when the ground beneath him started shaking, and he heard a rumbling sound that grew louder with every passing second.
Suddenly, the Tower began to shift and twist, as if it was alive. Jenner stumbled, struggling to keep his balance as he clung to the Tower's edge. He looked up, and to his horror, he saw that the ladder he had just climbed was now gone, replaced by a smooth wall.
Panic rose in Jenner's throat. He had heard of the Tower's shifting nature, but he had never imagined it would happen so soon. He looked around, trying to find a way forward, but the Tower's surface was featureless and smooth.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He had to keep moving, had to find a way forward. He looked at his sword, and an idea struck him. He stepped back, took a deep breath, and swung his sword at the Tower's surface.
To his surprise, the sword cut into the Tower's surface like butter, leaving a deep gouge. Jenner grinned, feeling a surge of confidence. He swung his sword again, and again, carving out a rough path up the Tower's surface.
He climbed for what felt like hours, his muscles burning with exertion. He swung his sword again and again, carving out hand and footholds, until he finally reached the top of the section.
As he stood at the edge of the newly carved section, he heard a voice. "Impressive," it said. "You've passed the first trial."
Jenner looked around, trying to locate the source of the voice. "Who's there?" he asked.
There was no response. Jenner frowned, feeling uneasy. He had heard that the Tower's trials were not always straightforward, that they could be deceptive and dangerous. He took a step forward, and suddenly the Tower's surface beneath his feet gave way.
He fell, his heart pounding as he tumbled down the Tower's side. He reached out, grasping for anything that would stop his fall, but there was nothing there.
Just as he thought he was about to hit the ground, he felt something wrap around his waist, stopping his fall. He looked up, and saw a vine had grown out of the Tower's surface, coiling around him tightly.
Jenner looked down, and saw that he was suspended high above the ground, the vine the only thing keeping him from falling to his death. He took a deep breath, and looked up, ready to continue his climb. He knew that the Tower's trials would only get harder from here on out, but he was determined to reach the top, no matter the cost.
