"I work for a demon," Katherine's voice boomed, filling the room and abruptly drawing Xavier's attention away from the amulet box in his hand. Xavier's hand instinctively tightened around Katherine's throat, urging her to continue speaking.
"I was raised by him, bound by an Infernal Covenant," Katherine divulged, capturing Xavier's complete focus. Unconsciously, his grip loosened as he contemplated the weight of this covenant she spoke of. He knew he would have to delve into the afterlife to research it further.
"Because of our bond, I am compelled to obey his every command," she murmured, catching Xavier's gaze. He scrutinized her amber eyes, searching for any trace of deception, but surprisingly found them devoid of emotion, leaving him with no choice but to question her sincerity.
