Jay looked over at his parents. His mother had taken the seat next to his father and was whispering to him. From the looks on their faces, he could tell that they both felt guilty about the information that they had to deliver to Kason. He didn't meet Kason until after he had lost his father and the boy he remembered had been timid and prone to flinch at loud noises. Even though he had been very young, he hadn't missed the bruises that covered his body under the clothes.
Remembering, Jay knew that Kason had been abused by the father he grew up with. Discovering that he may have been cheated of a life with a person who may have been better for him. Jay clenched his jaw. On behalf of his friend, he was upset and angry too. Since the situation was so unusual, he couldn't blame his parents for keeping the secrets they did. But after spending so much time with his friend growing up, his heart broke for him.
