"Looking for me?"
I whirled around at the sound of her voice, heart dropping to my stomach as she tilted her head to the side and narrowed her gaze on me.
She was angry.
I could feel her anger rolling off of her in waves like steam. But she remained composed, unwilling to lose her cool.
She'd caught me watching her, there was no lie or excuse that could get me out of this.
My plan had been to avoid her for as long as I could. But over the weekend, I'd been sick to my stomach with worry and had gone back and forth to check on her, nearly every five minutes.
I mostly found her reading, all the times I appeared on her balcony. I'd managed to hide myself quite well. I hadn't wanted her to know I was there. I had just wanted to make sure she was okay.
