Chapter 16 - Tough Recruitment

"Professor Leon of your academy called me saying he is coming for a small discussion. He is likely coming to recruit you to SlayerBreak guild."

Agatha sat in the living room with Arankar after he returned home.

Arankar nodded. "Must be my Seal affinity. Then I guess we won't have trouble entering the SlayerBreak guild."

"Yep, but this will play out differently, so just watch and learn. We shouldn't show that you want to enter the guild," Agatha said, licking her lips with a cold smile as she raised her leg and put it over the other. 'Leon, you will be the first to die from Daha's original party.'

"You look cool, Mom," Arankar said with a mischievous grin.

Agatha was in her hunter outfit, so she indeed looked cool and hot. During the afternoon and evening, she would go on a hunt as an Epic-rank hunter since she could alter her status, a boon that came with how she got stronger while Arankar was in her womb.

"Humph, it's fine. You can call me whatever you want since I have reached my patience," Agatha said with a snort, her gaze slightly distant. "Just wait."

Arankar was startled and confused. "What do you mean?"

A sense of anxiety rose in him, but he calmed down and replayed the scene of him looking into her eyes. 'She seemed serious, and frustration and anger were evident in her distant eyes… But…'

"What are you dazing out for? Silly, hahaha. You can think about it later. For now, listen to me on what we have to do and then go with whatever flow we reach in the discussion. Our aim is too…."

Just as Agatha and Arankar finished discussing, Leon rang the bell.

"Miss Agatha, how are you?"

Leon entered with a greeting after Agatha opened the door and politely invited him.

"We are fine. Tell us about you," Agatha said with a smile as she led him into the living room, where Arankar was already on a couch watching the news on a magic TV.

He stood up and greeted Leon before Agatha sat beside Arankar and invited Leon to the couch across them behind a table.

"So, what business do you have with us, Professor Leon?" Agatha asked with a smile.

"Not much, it's just-" Leon looked at Arankar with a proud expression and continued, "Arankar is one of the students I am most impressed with. So, I was wondering if I could help you a little in any way. Did you decide on which place to join?"

"Actually, he had already decided."

Leon turned to Agatha since she answered and asked in surprise, "Oh? Which place?"

"Guild, Transcendent Blade."

"Are you serious?" Leon uttered a bit loudly despite himself since he was lost hearing their choice.

"Of course. Arankar loves those traditional weapons, and the Transcendent Blade guild is perfect for him. He chose for himself," Agatha said as she turned to Arankar with a loving smile.

"Indeed. I would love to try them all and choose one before focusing on mastering it," Arankar nodded as he smiled at Leon. "Transcendent Blade Guild is the perfect place for me."

Transcendent Blade Guild, Ranked 7th on the World Guild Ranking.

Leon awkwardly smiled and said to Agatha, "Transcendent Blade is a unique guild. I am afraid I can't help Arankar enter there. They have the harshest requirement to enter, and although they recruit rookies to train them, their training is so harsh that there are always kids that die during their training period."

"And its base is also in a far eastern place with only forest, mountains, rivers, and monsters. They usually, or rather, mostly operate in Zaxhan World," Leon added with a grave expression.

Zaxhan World was the 3rd world that connected to Earth, and it was the darkest one out of them all, with unheard-of strange races like a mix of fantasy and Lovecraft style. The structure of that world consisted of gigantic floating islands and exotic climates on the surface.

Leon thought he would inform them about the ridiculous wish Arankar had about joining the Transcedent Blade guild. 'They should change their mind after knowing the harshness of Transdecent Blade guild.'

"We know about it since I specifically sought that guild's information despite its reclusive nature," Agatha replied with a smile.

Leon coughed and shook his head. "How about this? I have some connections in the SlayerBreak guild and can help Arankar enter there. Their requirement is also a bit harsh, but not as harsh as Transcedent Blade guild."

"But Arankar is confident in his skills and ability to learn. He will do just fine in the Transcendent Blade guild," Agatha said, her smile unflinching.

"Have you heard about SlayerBreak guild's Special Rookie Batch?" Leon asked, forcing a subject in the discussion.

"Nope," Agatha shook her head.

"That batch is only reserved for those that SlayerBreak guild deems worthy of their top brass's focus and attention. They will be taught many things and given access to our large library to learn skills and eventually master them after going through adventures and guidance of seniors hunters and even adventurers from other worlds."

Leon continued with a serious expression, "Arankar has that potential, so I wanted to recommend him to the person I know in SlayerBreak guild."

"Oh? He can get such a spot?" Agatha asked in surprise as she was impressed. Turning to Arankar, she asked, "What do you think?"

Arankar adopted a thoughtful expression for a few seconds before shaking his head, "Not attractive enough for me. Sword Saint is in the Transcendent Blade guild, and I want to meet and learn from him, which is only possible if I join that guild."

"I see. I understand your wish now," Leon said, smiling as he lightly chuckled, "but you are underestimating all top guilds and other organizations and overestimating Sword Saint."

"What do you mean?" Arankar curiously asked.

"It means that Sword Saint is not even that impressive compared to many others who are mastering their blades in other worlds. Even the sword saint himself is eager to get pointers from them, haha. That guy is famous here only because he has been openly active."

"That is…simply wonderful," Arankar slowly said as he felt excitement coursing through him. He had yet to visit those other three worlds, so the burst of anticipation he felt about the future made him slightly excited.

"But I am afraid I'll have to turn you down," Arankar continued as he shook his head. "If someone like Sword Saint in SlayerBreak guild existed, I would consider it."

'Is this brat really so sure of his skills to impress Sword Saint and get a chance to learn from him.' Leon was speechless.

"Well, there you have it," Agatha added with a wry smile.

I guess I'll have to suck up here.' Leon internally sighed. 'So he likes weapons. Well, I am sure Daha can convince Tomoe to meet with Arankar if it means getting him in the Guild.'

"Fine," Leon said with a nod and continued, "If you want a master on the level of Sword Saint but more powerful, then there is one in SlayerBreak guild. She is the master of several weapons, not just a sword."

'Eh? Who is it?' Agatha wondered.

"Tomoe Yami. For your information, she is above legendary and has recently returned for a break. If Arankar enters Special Rookie Batch, he will definitely get to meet her. I'll make it happen," Leon said, determined and serious.

Agatha lightly laughed. "One thing is clear. You want Arankar to be in the SlayerBreak guild. Reason? It's his Seal affinity, right?"

Agatha questioned as she crossed her arms below her bust, and her eyes narrowed as she finished.

Leon wryly smiled and nodded, no longer pretending. 'I didn't expect him to be so stubborn about Transcedent Blade guild and sword saint… sigh.'

"Then we have some conditions in exchange for letting Arankar join the SlayerBreak guild," Agatha said with a wide smile.

'Why do I have a bad feeling about this?' Leon thought as he saw Agatha's smile.
