Uncontrollable streams of tears rolled out of Luna's eyes as soon as her knees kissed the floor.
There was numerous shards of broken glass, nails, and other dangerous items on the ground. The sharp pain was almost unbearable for her to bear….almost.
'At least this is better for me than to be punished by the war dogs' Luna convinced herself.
She had never been physically punished by her grandfather..ever. The worst he had ever done was to freeze her account for a few weeks and that was it!
Viper looked at Luna pitifully. Draco had never punished his favorite granddaughter since he had worked for him. Maybe she had crossed the line this time.
He only hoped she would be released no later than a week.
Viper walked back to the main building. He went up to Draco's study room to give report of the mission Luna achieved while she was in Italy.
"Lord Draco. I'm here." Viper bowed with utmost respect.
Draco who was facing his window, spoke to his aide without turning his back. "How is Luna?" He asked with a tender look in his eyes.
"She cried." Viper replied him. "She would have been better off with a lighter punishment. You know she is always careful." He added.
Draco turned to face his aide. "I am not punishing her because she did something wrong." He paused and sat down on his huge chair.
"I am punishing her so she would understand what it means to take responsibility for her actions and what it would cost the rest of the family."
Viper nodded his head slightly, not willing to banter with his master.
He knew when to keep his mouth shut and when to subtly offer advice. His head was better off on his shoulders than in some unknown den fed to the hungry animals.
Draco carefully looked round his study. The brown gothic designs on the ceiling edge that spoke of the tedious work in building the manor.
The majestic golden chandelier dangling from the center of the study, that screamed of the shiny light guiding their family for ages to come.
The whole study reminded him of the struggles he had to put up for his family to have a wealthy life.
Viper coughed lightly to snap Draco out of his daydream. Draco stared at Viper for interrupting his moment.
"What do you have to tell me?" Draco grunted to Viper.
"We've found the man already sir. He lives in Italy with his wife and son. He appears to be in bad terms with his daughter." Viper reported while pulling out the virtual report to his master.
Draco scaled through the information presented to him. "Hmm Bryan eh? Get the men ready. We'll fly down to Italy in two weeks."
Back at the Chevalier mansion, Bryan seethed and fumed, pacing up and down in his home office. Things at the Chevalier Towers had been horrible, especially since these weeks that Scarlett had come back. He had lost total control over his business.
He had gotten to an all time low in his life. His assistant, Robert stood by the corner, watching Bryan throw things and make a mess of his office.
"Sir, I suggest you rest a little before the office comes crashing down." Robert shakily warned his boss. The expensive vases that have flying in his direction scared him to the core.
Bryan looked up at Rob who didn't know when to keep his mouth shut.
"Are you insane?! Or your brain has been replaced by a bowl of cereal?! The company that pays your salary, that pays your allowance, is going down the drain!!!!
And I know it's because of that crazy witch! She's a monster. I can never believe I gave birth to that thing.
It's been 9 years now and she doesn't stop hurting me. Be it in my dreams, in my relaxation time and now my work???!!!
No! I won't take this!! Prepare my car, I'm going to pay that devious wench a visit." Bryan yelled at the top of his lungs and stormed out of the office.
Robert panicked in serious fear as soon as he heard his boss say he was going to pay his daughter a visit.
What other thing than a terrible disagreement would happen when the estranged father and daughter stayed in one building?
He had no choice than to do as he was told.
Tracy and Rowan had gone on a trip to Florence after going for Scarlett's fashion show. There was no one he could talk to so that Bryan would stop his madness.
He had no choice than to start the car and drive straight to ROMANO.
The car got to a screeching halt at ROMANO's entrance.
Bryan got out of the car even before Robert could turn off the car engine.
As he got to the door, the security stopped him immediately.
"Where do you think you're going sir? Unwanted visitors are not allowed into this building." They grabbed Robert by his arms.
He struggled with the security men and kept on screaming and shouting.
"Where is that crafty devil named Scarlett?!!! Let her come here! She has almost ruined my life and made me a mess. She has to pay for all the wickedness she has shown me. I raised her and provided for her, but what has she paid me in return?!!
Nothing!!!!!!!!! She only knows how to pretend to be a nice person before the media and show her devilish self before those around her." Bryan furiously ranted.
"Scarlett!!!! Come out here. Let the whole world know and see you as the callous monster you are!!" He kept on yelling.
Robert stood off to the side, watching his boss' display his ferocious craze.
Antonio knocked the door to Scarlett's office rather sharply.
Scarlett looked up with her reading glasses on. "What is it now?" She asked a bit annoyed her work was interrupted.
"Mr. Chevalier making a huge scene at the doors for some minutes." He reported.
Scarlett took off her glasses and asked, "Which one of them? Rowan is also a Chevalier."
"Mr. Bryan." Antonio answered.
Scarlett rested back in her chair with a mischievious smirk on her face. "Interesting." She said.
"And what did he claim I did to him?" She inquired of Antonio.
"Something along the lines of you ruining his life, being a devil…I guess." Antonio repeated what the receptionist told him.
Scarlett chuckled lightly, swiveling her chair around for a few seconds before she spoke. "Have him handcuffed and bring him up here." She instructed Antonio with a more serious expression.
Antonio bowed and left to do what he was tasked to do.
As soon as he got downstairs, he whispered Scarlett's instructions to the security.
They let Bryan off their hold and handed him over to Scarlett's personal guards.
The guards handcuffed him just as Scarlett requested and brought him up through her private elevator.
Bryan would have yelled again, if not for the painful blow Antonio struck him with. Robert tagged along behind them like a helpless dog.
Antonio came out of the elevator first, to inform Scarlett about the arrival of her unwanted visitor.
"He's here, Miss Scarlett." Antonio told her.
"Alright, bring him in. I'd love to make this quick…..even if it means he loses a limb." She said without raising her head.
Antonio signaled for the guards to bring in her father.
He left for Orla's office to inform her. She was unaware of what was going on….but to his surprise she wasn't there.
He made a mental note to inform Scarlett about his findings as soon as this was over.
"Well well well. If it isn't the most high Mr. Bryan Chevalier in my office, brought to me like a prisoner, in handcuffs, looking all haggard and annoying." Scarlett chuckled, clapping her hands in tiny like an excited child on Christmas day.
"Cut to the chase in 5 minutes, I'm busy." She suddenly had a stern expression proudly resting on her face.
Bryan could once again not believe his eyes.
And no, it wasn't about the lavish, exquisite décor and ambience that could pay off his debts, living in this building.
It was not about the fact that there were many personal guards at her disposal.
It was the audacity his own daughter had, his own flesh and blood, a young girl who lived under his roof…..she was bold enough to rubbish him by sending her lackeys to handcuff him like a slave and drag him across doors to her office???!!!!
He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that he was outrightly disrespected where he ought to be walking proudly and others bowing repeatedly towards him.
"Scarlett! Are you still in your right senses? You dare to make my life a miserable hell and still embarrass me before all these incompetent minions you call guards?!"
Scarlett looked at the man whose face was already punctured and wondered who was not in their right senses.
"Two minutes." She called out, putting on her glasses and ready to work.
She would have him spend the rest of the year in her grandfather's dungeon if he had nothing valuable to say.
