I've been training myself for the last month nonstop. I pushed myself. I ran every day. I learned about the world. I did everything I could to be stronger. It's not changing anything to my level. That's normal. You can only gain experience by completing quests, killing monsters, or clearing dungeons.
You don't gain levels by running. That doesn't mean that's not important. Because I need to be in control of my body if I want to kill monsters.
I did all of that all month long. Yet, I am now in a small room with the principal of the school and my parents.
I don't know why I'm stuck in such a small room with an old man and my family. from afar it looks like an intervention.
- Leon, you are here today for an intervention.
That's what the principal of the school told me. I knew it felt like an intervention because it was an intervention.
- Me and your father are incredibly concerned about you.
- There is nothing to be worried about, Mom.
Just because I have missed a couple of weeks of school doesn't mean that they should be worried about me.
- You are an intelligent student. Everybody here knows it. Passing your grades without going to school is not something that I would recommend as your principal. Especially in your situation.
Everybody in the tiny office was looking at me. Waiting for my response. What I could come up with has an answer.
The truth would hurt my parents. They probably would be happier to hear me say that I have a problem with drugs or something in that vein.
I could not bring myself to lie. I have already decided. I am not running away anymore. I'll attack life head-on.
- I don't need to go to school anymore.
The whole room got quieter. That was not the answer they wanted but I knew that. I knew my answer would not be well accepted.
- You know son in the world we live in, especially has level-less like us, you need education. You need a great education. You are so close to achieving it. Don't give up now.
- You don't understand what I'm saying. I won't be levelless. I'm tired of the system. I'm tired of being a coward. I'm tired of being weak.
- You could die. You will die said my parents in unison
- So be it. I'm ready to die for what I believe in. I'm ready to die for a better life. For a better world.
I could feel the bomb I had set in the office. But to me everything was fine. I was proud of not running away. I was proud of being honest.
- If that is your decision the school will approve your leave. You are not making a good decision. But that is not the school's place to decide.
- Why is it such a bad decision? Rotting here is a better decision for you. Rotting in the starting zone is not living. It's not a decision. It's cowardice.
- You have to understand that it has always been hard to gain a level but right now with the situation, it's even dumber.
- What situation are you talking about?
- You don't know about Collossus going and killing every low-level NPCs? The quests at the lower levels were always hard but now they don't even exist. You can only gain levels by killing monsters. Killing monsters while level one is suicide.
I had not heard of that. He was right in that case, my decision is insane. It always was. It doesn't change it. But I do need to make a better plan.
After that, I had to sign the paperwork to get out of school. My parents didn't approve of my decision and my father kicked me out of the house.
My only option now was to go and finally raise my level. I have been training for the past month. Punching trees. Running. Doing push-ups. I've been feeling better but none of my stats have changed. I haven't gained even an ounce of XP.
I didn't expect to gain anything from my training. I know that the game system is separate from normal strength. Rumor has it that gaining one point of strength would make you the strongest person in the world before the nexus genesis. That's why there is such a separation between level 1 and level 2 in society. Level 1 is considered a normal human. Level 2 and more is a sur-human.
Before I head out, I need to go to the library one last time. I need to make sure that my plan new plan is good.
I read about every book concerning the monsters surrounding the city. I made sure to know which one could make me gain levels without being so dangerous. Amidst all the reading I did, I found a news story about the killing of the NPCs by Colossus.
I didn't want to believe the old man but there it was. News upon news about the slaughter that Collosus did. Something about it made me feel like I was on the right path. Like my decision to gain levels was the right one.
The date. The date he slaughtered them all coincided with the day I saw the glitch around him.
It's clear to me.
He knows I saw it. He felt it. I'm sure of it. He probably doesn't know it's me. I hope he doesn't know it's me. But knowing that somebody else saw it made him want to protect his status.
He knows I'm aiming for his spot and he wanted to protect it. He slaughtered them all to make my progression impossible. This was good news. Great news. It means that I'm on the right track.
I need to go out right now. I need to be level 2 as fast as I can.
Being so poor and being kicked out of my house had some benefits to it. I could move out of the city fast and fast I left the city.
I was there by myself looking at the main gate of the city. Normally, people would have their family and friends encourage them before leaving. But I was alone. I was alone against a whole system.
I knew I could always come back to the city if I did feel like the monsters were too strong. I knew I could. People had done it before.
I won't come back but knowing that I could if things went bad recomforted my mind.
I finally crossed the gate to head out to the main road of the kingdom. The moment I stepped foot outside of the city, I felt so free. Like it was what I was supposed to do. Like I was born for adventure.
I am going to become level 2 and come back for my family. I'll help them level up too. I'll help them that is for sure.
BECAUSE OF THE HIDDEN QUEST THE PLAYER HAS BEEN LOCKED OUT OF THE STARTING AREA CITY UNTIL LEVEL 10.
I can't go back now if things turn out bad. Well, they won't.
Let's get stronger. Let's kill Collosus.
