Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 The Police Nightmare

Arfin steadied his grip on his gun as he took aim at the night crawler far below him and began shooting. He could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins as he pulled the trigger, the sound of the gunshot echoed loudly. Every shot hit the target precisely. It was really helpful for Fergus who was now evacuating people there.

The night crawler let out a deafening screech. Arfin fired again, and again, each shot hitting all the monsters with pinpoint accuracy. He could see the fear in the creature's eyes looking at him from a far, and they had started to hide from Arfin sight.

A news helicopter from the National News just flew overhead of them, recording the night crawler attacking the people below. They looked incredulous with what was happening. It was like a nightmare horror movie that could only appear on TV.

Police cars began to appear and firefighters arrived to try to put out the fires that had been caused by the invasion.

As the police officers got out of their cars, they were stunned by the night crawler's form that defied all rationality in their minds. Without being asked, the police chief quickly yelled, "Fire at will."

The night crawlers leap from one building to another with ease. The night crawler let out a terrifying screech as it charged at them. The officers tried to dodge out of the way, but it was too fast. One officer was caught off guard and was quickly bitten by one of the monsters.

But the others kept fighting, never giving up. They fired their weapons at the night crawlers with all their might, hoping to bring it down. Some used shotguns, while others used pistols. But none of them seemed to be doing any damage.

"I repeat, there is a monster at downtown! Yes! It's a fucking monster! Aaah!" One of the police officers who reported the battle to their superior screamed as he got bitten from the night crawler.

Waves of police cars came and almost all of them were obliterated instantly. They tried to fight the night crawler only with pistol shots that only scratched the outermost layer of the night crawler's skin which is too thick to be penetrated.

"Requesting backup. My guy got eaten alive right here," yelled one of the police officers on his radio.

"AFO, SFO, CTSFO, SCO19, call them all, or just call the goddamned military here," shouted the police officer who was contacting his superiors on the mobile radio.

"Calm down? You tell me to calm? There is a monster shaped human-like-spider here, there are corpses, bodies everywhere, and there is even a little kid shooting a plasma cannon at the top of the building above me, and you tell me to calm down?"

"Goddammit, I am running away!" shouted the police officer who was suddenly running, passing by the police officer who was busy talking to his superior.

"For God's sake, I am not lying and I am not kidding!" shouted the police officer on his radio.

At the top of the building, the plasma cannon suddenly stopped shooting.

Arfin suddenly said, "I think I'm out of energy."

After shooting many night crawlers in the distance. Arfin's eyes looked dull, his hands holding the sword trembled, and he was sweating profusely.

"I can't even stand," he said.

"It's okay. Lets rest ...," but as soon as Nico said that Arfin suddenly collapsed and fainted.

"Oh my God!" Nico exclaimed in shock. Nico immediately grabbed his body so he wouldn't fall off the building's edge.

"And there are two children with swords on the top of the building. Why are they not running away? I don't know if they're cosplaying or what," the BBC helicopter which was currently flying overhead is aiming their light at them.

"That's a bad idea," Nico murmured. It wouldn't look good for the knights to be seen by the normies in front of the public. Nico immediately grabbed Arfin's arm and descended from the rooftop.

He then entered the floor below, which was filled with glass walls. The floor looked like an office that was now closed and there was no one there. From there, he could still see what was happening outside. The news helicopter appeared to be moving away and was now covering news about firefighters trapped between the fire and the night crawlers.

Just as he was stretching his tired legs and wanted to rest for a moment, there was a loud thud from the floor below. Nico's eyes widened as he quickly stood up and listened attentively to the sounds around him.

He then heard the distinct hiss of the night crawler from the floor below. This was really bad. Arfin, who was unconscious next to him, could become a helpless victim if the monster saw him. Nico tried to put him under the office desk there and covered him with a pile of contract papers.

Then, with a stomp of his foot, he quickly ran away from Arfin. From behind the concrete floor below, the floor suddenly cracked and a night crawler leapt up to his floor.

Nico quickly unsheathed his sword as he ran. He tried to look left and right, but nothing came to mind that could help him. When he reached the edge of the glass wall, he had no choice and turned around. He prepared to fight the night crawler in front of him.

Nico felt his sword respond, he could feel pure energy entering his body. His adrenaline made his heart pump so hard that the movements around him seemed slow.

Without wasting any time, Nico charged towards the Night Crawler, swinging his sword with full force. The monster dodged the attack, but Nico quickly followed up with another strike, this time hitting the creature's arm. The Night Crawler's arm was severed instantly as if it was cutting through butter.

Seeing its arm severed, the Night Crawler roared and became agitated. This time it tried to parry Nico's attack with its fangs. But its fangs broke off instantly, making the Night Crawler scared and jumped back.

Nico was also surprised. He remembered that even Sir Valhein's sword could only clash with the Night Crawler's fangs. But his sword was able to cut and pierce anything he struck.

The Night Crawler was relentless. This time it decided to evade and not let Nico's sword touch it. It continued to strike at Nico with incredible speed and ferocity. But Nico remained determined, and he fought back with equal vigor. They battled fiercely.

The Night Crawler turned out to be faster than Nico. Its fangs managed to pierce Nico's thigh, causing him to scream in pain. Nico felt dizzy, his vision fading. He couldn't stay any longer. He had to end this fight now or he could die from blood loss.

In one final attempt to defeat the monster, Nico charged forward with all his might, striking the Night Crawler with a powerful blow that sent it crashing into the glass wall. The wall shattered into a million pieces, and both Nico and the Night Crawler fell through the air.

Nico could feel the wind rushing past him as he plummeted towards the ground, holding tightly to his sword. The Night Crawler flailed about wildly, trying to grab onto something to stop its fall. But it was too late, and both Nico and the monster fell, hitting a power pole, bouncing and rolling before crashing down onto the pavement below.

The impact was tremendous, and for a moment, everything went black. When Nico opened his eyes, he saw the lifeless body of the Night Crawler lying beside him. He had defeated the monster, but at what cost? He had taken a tremendous fall and was lucky to be alive. Slowly, he stood up, clutching his sword tightly. Like a berserker, he stood covered in thick green fluid of the Night Crawler and looked sharply at the dozens of police officers around him, amazed by what they had witnessed.

All the police officers were surprised. Just as they heard the sound of broken glass, everyone looked up. A little boy was seen being thrown out of a building tens of meters high, shattering the glass, and falling along with the monster they were trying to defeat desperately.

What kind of little boy was this? Was he really a human?

"Hell no!" exclaimed one of the officers then ran away giving up.

"I didn't join the police force for this," said another.
