Chapter 12 - The Deal (2)

"You didn't seem to notice me in the car." He stated with his deep voice, disrupting my thoughts on the beautiful view.

This is the end, I thought, slowly turning to see the guy behind me.

He was standing tall, towering over me as he glared down at me with a Stern look.

"Have a seat," he said, walking away from me while taking off his suit jacket. He sat down on the couch, staring at me with a solemn gaze which forced me to move my feet towards the couch opposite him.

"Today marked the end of the two months I gave you to return the money and you seems to have forgotten about it. Why?" he questioned, looking at me with a sardonic gaze.

"I didn't forget about it, I just don't have the money yet. Please... give me more time to fetch you your money," I pleaded.

"Don't even think about it, I already gave you enough time, right? And I can't give you some more time."

"Well... I don't think I want my money back," he said in a low grumpy voice.

"Reynold..."

"Yes, boss." The man came running.

"Hand the papers over to her."

"Yes, boss," the man said, walking to the table, taking off the papers that were laying on it.

"Here is it, Miss." The man handed me the papers.

"What this for, Sir." I muthered, trying to figure out what he was up to this time.

"It a contract, read it and tell me what you think," he stated.

"Alright..." I murmured and began to read.

"What...?" I spatted out in shock.

It was a sick contract to be his girlfriend and I have to sign this thing just because I'm his debtor. This can't be...

"I'm sorry sir, I can't do this."

"Please... I promise to pay back my debt soon," I said, dropping the papers on the table in front of me.

He scoffed and glared at me, "I won't force you to do anything, I'm not that type of person."

"I'm giving you tomorrow to fetch me the money, or else you won't live to see the bright light of the day after tomorrow. And don't take my words as a mere threat, I'm a man of my words. Take her away," he ordered the driver and walked away.

I stared in shock, dismayed by his words. He was going to kill me if I don't pay him back tomorrow. I pursed my lips, downcasting my head. I will fetch him his money, but how?

"Let's go Miss," the man said.

We got in the car and the driver drove away.

"Miss, I think you should sign the contract, boss isn't impertinent to people close to him and he will do whatever he set his mind on, no matter how hard it is," the driver said.

"I know, I don't just wanna get involved with rich people, they are more complicated than anything else in the world," I mumbled, getting frustrated by everything.

"It's okay if that's what you want, I truly respect that, but how are you going to get the money overnight?"

"I don't know..."

"Do you think he will actually let you go even when you pay him?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm sure he will have nothing to hold against me by the time I pay back his money," I expressed in opposition to what the man said, causing him to take a glimpse at me.

The man chuckled and his lips curled to the corner of his mouth, "You don't know him, he isn't called boss for no reason, Miss."

The rest of the drive remained silent.

"Drop me off, this where I live," I said and he pulled over.

I got out of the car and went inside.

Mia hasn't come back from work yet. I sat down as I contemplated on how was I going to raise 52k in the next twenty four hours.

I felt numb, I don't know what to feel anymore; frustrated? Anger? Disbelief?

This was harder than I thought.

_________

The next day at 7:04 PM...

The slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange hue to the evening sky. Upon the beautiful view, I wasn't at ease with myself. Today was my last day on earth. I couldn't get the money, and I was going to pay it with my life. This was my fate, I thought sitting down on one of the street benches. I thought he was joking, but it doesn't seem like it.

I sat down and buried my face on my palms. I was at it again, one of the times I'm vulnerable. What should I do now? I just don't want to die, what will happen to Mia if he eventually squeezes the life out of me? I should just sign the contract and let more fate into my existence, my life can't be more crueler than it is right now. Nature has already done its worst, is there something left again?

I hailed a cab and gave him the location of the magnificent mansion. We arrived, I got out of the car and walked to the gate.

"Welcome, Miss," one of the men said opening the gate for me.

They all seem to have known me, I thought as my eyes moved to the mansion which was miles away from the gate. Goodness! Am I going to walk down there, we normally use a car to drive round the driveway that leads to the gate.

"I can give you a ride to the main place if you want to, Miss," the man said, coming towards me.

Yes.. I think I need a ride. The place was far from the main mansion.

"Y-Yeah."

"Get in..." the man ordered.

"Boss, she's is here," the man announced.

"Bring her in."

"You can go in Miss."

I walked inside and my eyes met him.

He was putting on a black plush sleeping robe, his hair was wet and was falling over his face as his pinkish red lips chewed on something I didn't get to know. He was as mesmerizing as ever.

"What are you doing here, little angel," he asked, his deep voice oscillating round the room in a sinewy rhythm. He didn't even bugged to glance at me, it was as if I don't exist.

Yes.. what was I doing here instead of being at home and waiting for my end.

"You can get out, if you are not ready to answer my question," he snapped, anger visible in his deep voice. I didn't see his reaction because of the hair on his face, but I knew the expression wasn't a pleasant one.

"Can I at least sit down, Sir," I asked in a low polite tone not to anger him any further.

"You can do whatever you want," he breathed.

I tottered to an empty couch and sat down. My palms grew damp and sweaty, nervousness increased the rate in which my heart was beat, feeling the anxiety to speak.

"Did you just come here just to watch me?" he beseeched, his voice bringing me back to reality.

I pursed my lips nervously and decided to say something, "Sir... I couldn't get you the money."

"What do you want me to do then," he asked nonchalantly his voice void of any emotion.

I made an entrancing little moue, as I rubbed the back of my neck nervously, how am I going to say this now that he's mindless.

"Can... I have... the... papers back," I stuttered, fearing he was going to throw me out.

But his reply shocked me.
