The rising sun casts a hesperidium shade through the Lacy orange curtains of the hotel room, making it bright up like the rising sun over the ocean. The day was dawned crisp and clear, bringing in with it new hope and miseries.
The sun streamed through the window to my eyes, causing me to force my glued eyes open while they came in an extreme contact with the sun.
I shut my eyes closed and struggled to sit up, turning away from the unbearable sunlight. I rubbed my bleary-eyed as I looked around me, wondering what I was doing in a heavenly place like this. Untill everything began to dawn on me. I... Got in bed with a strange man last night.
Speaking of the mysterious man. "Where is he?"
I carefully scan the room with my eyes wide open, wondering where he must have gone. He left without notice. His side of the bed was cold which means he left before I could even think of waking up.
"And did he leave without paying me?" I whispered rhetorically, the fear of knowing he did started to make my stomach growled in hunger.
"How could he!" I mumbled, my eyes beginning to welled up with tears.
How could he leave after taking advantage of a poor girl like me? He promised to pay me the exact money I asked for and even give me everything I wanted. And he just left without even paying me the money I had asked for. "How cruel," I cried.
What am l supposed to do at this point? I already did everything I could to help my sister. Everything, even my pride is gone, but all to no avail. It seemed like the universe has something else in store for me. Why is everything I do always wrong? Can't I just live like every other person?
Every other woman gets paid for their duty, but why is my own different? What did I do wrong? Questions prowled through my mind as more tears stream out of my eyes. I don't even know which one is more painful. The intense pain between my virgina and my lower abdomen or the feeling of frustration in my chest. I don't know.
After crying for what seemed like hours, I decided to leave. I can't stay any longer, otherwise I might get thrown out. But I wish she could, to leave everything outside, to forget about the heavy rock on my shoulder just for one day. I couldn't, Mia would die otherwise.
I tried to get out of the bed, but I was halted by an extreme pain on my thighs. "What is it now? I can't even use my legs now?" I whispered as I struggled to get up. And was happy when I finally did.
I looked back at the bed and saw the blood stain on the black bed sheet. I shook my head and limped forward. After all I'm still going to lose it anyways.
I cleaned up, put on my clothes which I found littering around and was about to leave the room when someone interrupted my attempt. I stopped and looked at the man in front of me as fear gripped my heart. Did I do something wrong?
The man looked at me and smirked. "You're Anna, right?" he asked and I nodded in fear.
"Good! I was sent to give you this," the man said and stretched his hand forward handling me something similar to a cheque.
I shakily took it from him and watched him walk away before I could even thank him. I drew back my attention to the note on my hand after watching the man disappear, and was shocked when I saw what it was.
A cheque?! My hand quickly flew to my lips to stop it from the gasp that was threatening to leave and my heartbeat hitched as it overwhelmed with happiness.
"It was exactly what I asked for, 500k!!" I finally let the overwhelming joy out as I found my way to the elevator. Mia is free!!
________
Two weeks later.
Here are the corrected paragraphs:
"What did you find?" A deep, cold voice was heard in the room.
"Boss, we found this." Two of his men went forward, handing him the documents.
"Her name is Anna Hendrix, the daughter of the woman who was murdered six years ago by the Black Head Organization," one of the men said, and the boss's lips twitched at the corner.
"Black Head!" he muttered, and the men nodded.
"Is there anything else you found?"
"No... boss, we are yet to find another. We will do that immediately," one hastily said as he noticed the way the boss's eyes were narrowing into a slit.
"Good, do that quickly. I give you twelve hours to do so, or else..." he threatened grimly, glaring at the two men who were now shaking visibly.
"We understand, boss." They bowed and hurried away.
He sipped his wine and looked at the man on the couch opposite him. "What?" he inquired.
He dropped his glass on the table and sighed. "Nothing! Just find it absurd to keep digging into a girl you had a night with."
He chuckled and gazed at the man who just spoke. "I know it is, but there's something quite fishy about her, Dan. She's unusual, shy, and beautiful, alongside her alluring figure." He paused and took a breath. "She's strange. There is something about her I couldn't quite pin down the moment I saw her. Her innocent big brown eyes remind me of the old man's favorite Chestnut horse. Something enchanting and beautiful in every season and form."
"She's exactly what I want. I think I want one more night with her, if not every night," he smirked sarcastically, gulping down the remaining liquid in his glass.
Dan scoffed, directing his attention to him. "What was I expecting when you started obsessing over an unknown woman? I hope she figures out your intentions are not good ones," Dan concluded and exhaled in dissatisfaction.
"What do you mean my intentions are not good ones?" he demanded, glaring at Dan with a dark, intense gaze.
Dan adjusted himself and continued. "Just admit it, Adrian. We both know it. It's of no use making that woman a sex toy. Just forget about her," Dan said and Adrian chuckled.
"You know nothing, fool."
Dan wanted to say something, but was interrupted by a guard who brought some news to Adrian.
"Boss, we found the man who heisted the golds," the guard announced.
"Good, what did he say about the golds?" Adrian asked, and the guard immediately went cold.
"We... Couldn't get any word out of him, boss."
Adrian looked at the guard with a raised brow. "Did you show him the way to hell?" he urged.
"We did... Boss."
"You tortured him enough?"
"Yes, boss."
"Shit..." he cursed out, unable to hide the anger bubbling inside him.
"I have no use for him, then. Kill him," he said with a cold voice that spoke finality. The guard bowed and walked away to carry out the Boss's order.
"I thought you changed after deserting from the organization. But I was wrong again, still the same psychopath I knew," Dan stated, disappointment clear in his voice.
"I have changed, though. You just have to stay on my good side. We're good as long as you follow my rules," he emphasized.
Dan shook his head. "You're something else, Adrian. A... monster."
Adrian looked at him, the anger he was feeling was palpable. "You know I hate it when people call me that, especially when it's coming from you of all people."
"But don't forget this. Monsters are not born or made. They are only perceived as monsters."
