Chapter 3 - The cold-blooded CEO.

The weather was crappy and stifling, the sun blazing hot, scorching the earth without a hint of breeze.

Everyone under the sun wanted to finish their tasks and escape the irritating heat that made our skin flare up painfully.

But despite the searing sun, I was unaffected. I had grown accustomed to its relentless burn, as if I was made to withstand it.

I went about delivering orders around the city in the scorching sun, enduring the scoldings from the manageress who despised me to the core.

Then, the headline of the day caught my attention, extinguishing the fireballs raining from the sky. It became the talk of the city and the entire world:

"THE YOUNG CEO OF DONOVAN'S CORPS BREAKS UP WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND, THE FAMOUS OPERA SINGER, DIVA CELIE."

This notorious billionaire was known to make the world tremble with a single step, and his mere presence sent shivers down everyone's spine. Just the mention of his name struck terror into human hearts.

Rumors circulated that he was as cruel and merciless as the grave, and as handsome as sin. No fool dared to cross his path without being crushed by his intimidating entourage.

Despite all the tales surrounding him, no one had ever laid eyes on him to verify the truth. This fueled the curiosity of the people, leading them to believe he was some kind of invisible god.

"Never look at him if you see him. He kills people and feeds their hearts to his dogs," mothers cautioned their daughters, instilling more fear in their hearts.

Yet, he was the man of every woman's dreams. He was the wealthiest man alive, and his rumored handsomeness added to his allure. Even though I had never seen him, his reputation as a vicious and savage individual persisted.

_____________

He plopped down on the couch, crossing his leg lazily over the other, as he sipped his favorite black wine. His intense gaze fixated on the man sitting across from him, causing the man to shift uncomfortably.

"What's the news?" he asked, tearing his eyes away from the man and directing his attention to the black screen on the wall.

The man finished the last drop of his drink, his mind processing the devil's question. He had heard the news, but the devil wanted to hear it directly from him. Well, he had to answer. He couldn't risk provoking the devil's anger that was already simmering inside.

"Nothing much, just about your breakup..." the man clarified.

He hummed and swallowed the wine in his mouth, a smug and unpleasant smile forming on his lips. "I see," he uttered.

"I hope you're not planning something terrible against her, because..."

"If she tries to ruin my reputation, she's as good as dead. You know I don't tolerate that," he interrupted sharply.

"Adrian, why don't you consider..." The man paused, observing Adrian's reaction. Seeing no change in his calm expression, he continued.

"...consider being in a real relationship. I know the organization took Cara away from you five years ago, but it's time to move on and let go of the hatred inside you." The man concluded, earning a hard, deadly glare from Adrian.

"Anything else you want to say?" he asked grimly, ready to leave.

"You're leaving?" the man asked quickly.

"Don't toy with me, Daniel," he stated, the calmness on his face vanishing instantly.

"My apologies..." the man apologized, feeling secretly frustrated. "The old master is ill," he revealed.

"Just make sure he's alright." Adrian retorted. "Anything else?"

"Yeah... I heard the investors backed out of the deal with the Mega Corporation. The company's president announced that they had been working together for over five years, and just when they were about to sign the deal, it got canceled. People are pointing fingers at you, saying you manipulated the investors. Now they're planning your downfall, believing you're the mastermind behind it all," the man explained, watching as Adrian's eyes narrowed into slits upon hearing the words.

"Mastermind," he smirked wickedly, the word rolling off his tongue effortlessly.

"Who holds the most shares in the company?" Adrian inquired.

"Probably Mr. Sam, the elderly man who used to work with the old master," the man replied, staring at Adrian curiously. What was he planning this time?

"Good... Convince the old man to withdraw his shares from the company, and when he does, inform Ryder to take care of him. The old man needs to die. After that, make sure the company is permanently shut down."

"And remember, any slight mistake will lead to your own demise," Adrian added, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes as he analyzed everything.

He hadn't initially planned to destroy the company like this, but they were all set on bringing him down as well. Let's see who falls first. He chuckled darkly.

"There are many ways to destroy something. Do I always have to get my hands dirty or act atrociously?"

"Atrocious," Adrian jeered silently as he stood up from the couch. "That's an understatement," he concluded, walking straight toward the door.

Stepping outside, he got into his car and sped through the streets, driving recklessly toward his modern palace located in the heart of the city.

After a few minutes of driving, he arrived at his destination. He pulled into the garage, and that's when he noticed an unfamiliar black sports car parked there.

His body froze for a moment as numerous questions flooded his mind. Who had entered? He hadn't invited anyone or anything. He was alone, surrounded by his men.

So, who could it be?
