Chapter 1 - Chapter one How it all started.

Beep ~beep~ beep~

There was a beeping sound all over the spaceship and everyone was so confused and terrified about it.

The captain and his crews were running from head to toe trying to find the solution to the problem.

"Warning ~warning ~warning, the ship has lost control"

A female voice filled all over the room, making those who thought that they were in a minor issue, knew that everything has became critical.

The female voice continued announcing the emergency so many times, to make sure that everyone heard her properly.

" How can this happen? We checked the ship just a few hours ago and nothing was wrong, then how come this is happening?"

" I don't know, but whatever is happening is a serious problem"

Anxiety surfaced as terror choked the air around everyone in the control room. People were waiting for what was to happen next.

From the camera, they could see other members of the ship running about in search of a way to save their life.

" We need to stop people from panicking, we need to give them a little hope, even though there is none"

Several sighs filled the room as people were giving up after trying everything to save the ship and discovered that the ship was no longer in their control.

It was as if someone hacked their ship and was controlling it to the destination he or she had chosen.

The captain and his assistant were the most worried among them. He had made a lot of enemies over his days as a captain, especially after he was promoted so many times for his discoveries.

And he was sure that one of his enemies must have done something on his ship, which had led to this major issue but couldn't point out the particular person.

" How do we give them hope?" the assistant finally asked after seeing some of the members of the ship crying, cursing, and breaking some of the things inside the ship.

While some others were blaming them for inviting them to their death.

Especially those that they hired away from their families on earth, thinking that after this exploration, they would be able to pay them and send them back to their families. Albeit now, they could not only not go back, but would also be dying any moment from now.

" Make an announcement, tell everyone that this is a minor issue and that we will get a hold of it soon" the captain quickly said, his body trembling in fear.

" Okay sir"

The assistant agreed and went forward to prepare the speech. He went to the microphone room with the captain to announce their fake news.

" Please everyone stay calm. What happened here is a little misunderstanding and we are trying to correct it, so give us some minutes to stop it" the assistant announced.

The captain wasn't able to announce the piece of fake news himself because people could easily notice his lies.

As the assistant ended his speech to calm the hopeless people on the ship, all of a sudden, a female grumpy voice rang all over the ship.

" Oh gosh, you humans are so dramatic and pathetic. Can you people keep quiet for crying out loud? As for the person that made that announcement, let me clarify things for you. Even if you bring the smartest people on your planet, you guys can't get the ship back under your control"

" This ship belongs to me now. I have been monitoring this particular ship for years. Is it that you guys don't like your planet or what? Because every month, I normally see this particular ship moving around space, disturbing the peace of other planets"

As the female with a croaky voice kept talking, everyone paid maximum attention to it because this was the only way to know the type of problem they are facing.

Silence filled the room as people listened to the invisible voice.

" But today I have decided to make use of you guys to achieve my long-time dream. I know you guys will be wondering who I am, sorry that I lost my manners in the first place. My name is Dizirala the cruel Queen of Zilla planet as everyone that knows me calls me"

" From what I discovered from your ship, I can see that you people are quite equipped with weapons. Can I say kudos to humans for developing a little over the years? Maybe you guys and your weapons will make this mission easier"

The voice stopped talking.

Even though the voice stopped, everyone remained silent. People could now realize that they weren't facing a minor problem but a greater one at that.

Someone who could hack the spaceship from afar. If not sorcery what could that be?

People who were just calm a few minutes ago could now be seen cringing in fear. Some shed tears while some just lost hope.

The captain was speechless. He was horror-stricken by the things he heard. He just sat on the ground in total defect and agony.

Here he was, thinking that it was one of his enemies that hacked his ship not knowing that it was far beyond that.

From the sound of everything that happened, the captain could notice that every hope was lost, all they could do was wait for what awaited them.

On second thought, maybe it was one of his enemies who must have traveled the same time with them to space and has been monitoring them ever since. using another voice to deceive them.

Yes, there was a higher chance for this to happen.

One of his enemies hacked his ship.

The captain quickly stood up from the floor and rushed to his assistant as he thought of this, " Jaden, scan our surroundings, check whether there are any other ships following us "

" Yes sir"

The assistant now went to work by moving over to the scanning department.

" Please excuse me, I have something to do here," Jaden told the other crew who was in charge of the scanning department.

The crew quietly stood up to give him access to the security system since he wanted to do it himself.

Beep~Beep~Beep~Beep

An audible sound was heard from the system as Jaden scanned the environment, indicating that something had been found.

" Lewis… sorry sir. Sir, I think you should see this" Jaden called his captain to come and see what was on the screen of the system.

"What is that?"

" Sir, I couldn't detect any other ship around but I discovered something else that is very useful to us"

The captain furrowed his brows at that statement. 'What is more useful than our survival?' He thought

" What could that be?"  Lewis asked, there was a hint of curiosity, and confusion in his voice.

" You know that energy source we discovered last six years ago that we couldn't get to even after everything we tried, which had made us keep exploring this place over and over again?"

" Yes, yes, yes?" Lewis questioned impatiently, now fully interested in the conversation.

The feeling of fear was now completely out of his body and was now being replaced with a new renowned hope, curiosity, eagerness, and a sense of humor.

" You see that blinking light over there?" Jaden pointed somewhere at the screen of the sensor and Lewis nodded quickly.

" That is the location of the energy source we found last six years ago, that has made us stay almost half of our lifetime in space"

There was silence for a while before Lewis broke it up with his statement.

" Our sacrifice, I don't think it won't be in vain. This source could be of great use. If my assumption were to be correct, I know that that source will be able to get us out of here, not just here, it will be able to make Earth the strongest planet in the whole universe"

"So we won't have to be scared of any form of alien invasion again,"  Lewis said with a huge smile on his face.

Jaden, seeing the smile that suddenly appeared on his captain's face, shook his head. He hadn't even concluded his statement and his captain was smiling. Or maybe he has forgotten something.

" Sir, we still have a problem"

" What is it again?" The smile on Lewis's face was replaced with a frown

" We can't get to the source"

" What do you mean by, we can't get to the source? All you have to do is to move this ship to that area you discovered the source and everything is solved"

Jaden looked at his Captain in confusion. Now, what filled his mind was the realization that his Captain didn't just want the source to save the earth but to have it for his personal use. That was the reason he was in a rush.

What could make someone forget that they are at the point of death if not that the thing they discovered was more important than death itself?

They had completely forgotten the other members of the ship who were outside of the control room, weeping bitterly out of the fear of death and loss of hope.

" Sir, have you forgotten?"

" Forgotten what!?"  Lewis yelled with annoyance.

" We no longer have control of the ship!" Jaden shouted back, but his voice wasn't as high as his captain's.

" Shit" Lewis lamented as he hit the system with his bare hands, " not again. we can't lose this opportunity again, who knows when we will come across it again"

'Because we never will, this is our last bus stop ' Jaden commented in his mind while keeping his gaze, focused on the system.

" No, I can't lose this opportunity again," Lewis said anxiously and determinedly before heading to the center of the control room, " Everyone go back to work now! We need to move this ship over to that direction" he pointed to the north.

Soon, everyone was back to work, typing, repairing, and doing other kinds of stuff to get the ship back under their control. They kept trying everything and any way possible to get the ship back to life but nothing was working

" Sir, I don't think..."

Beep~Beep~Beep~Beep ~Beep~Beep

Jaden opened his mouth to say something but was cut short by the repeated emergency sound again. However, this time, it sounded more urgent and needed.

" What_what is that?" one of the crews in the ship was pointing at the viewing glass as he stuttered the word out.

Everyone followed the gesture of his hand to see what he was pointing and what they saw brought their soul out of their body.

An opening had already appeared in the space in front of them and was getting wider as they approached.

" I don't think that's an ordinary opening. Everyone, prepare yourself! That is a portal!"  Lewis shouted with horror and frustration.

" Why is all this happening?" Jaden muttered silently to himself.

" We can afford to be trapped in a portal, please everyone try everything you know that can get this ship back to our control or we will be doomed" Lewis pleaded for the first time.

Everyone was shocked by his pleas because he was not someone who could beg but always use force and violence to achieve what he wanted.

But soon, the surprised look on their faces faded because of the bigger problem ahead of them.

" You all have heard the captain, so please, is there anyone who knows anything?" This time it was the assistant who asked the question.

At the question, everyone began to look at each other to see if any of them would be able to volunteer.

" Please don't be scared, nothing is going to happen to you"

However, there was no reply as everywhere was as silent as a graveyard. Everyone has tried their possible best but no one was able to bring the ship back to life.

As they were still contemplating, the ship that has been for a very long time once again came back to life as the engine was ignited. The ship which was moving at a slow rate before, now speeds off, heading straight into the portal.

Soon they reached the portal and sank in. There was a blinding light as they went deeper into the unknown which made them cover their eyes with their arms.
