A week has passed since Felix came back to life. I learned that a lot from the past has been changed but the fact that we are engaged remains, for that I feel thankful to the Gods that sent him back. While I still don't know why they needed to change it and how Felix died, that trip he went on involves my family.
I check the time on my watch, eleven-fourteen in the evening. The street is quiet, which is why I really enjoy walking on my way home. The purse in my hand swaying back and forth, the moonlight lighting up the path for me as I take in some air with my eyes closed. For four years, I've done this, that having Felix pick me up some times feels very new. If I were to tell somebody my story, they would surely call me crazy. I didn't think it was possible myself, perhaps my desperation made them do this. But if it was someone else that was on my situation, I'm pretty sure they'd also want to know the reason behind their significant other's death. I honestly did not stop from investigating Felix's case but it was too hard, since it happened in a foreign country. I do not have any evidence either, phonecalls and text messages aren't enough. The police then closed it even though I begged them not to. I heard a sound from behind me, but when I turned, there is no one there. I pick up the pace. But this has never happened before, no matter how late it is, I never felt unsafe in the streets. Then I stopped, looking over my shoulder, there is a silhouette of a man. I run as fast as I can. Who could that be? Why would he follow me?
I screamed loudly when my head bumps into somebody's chest. "Tazanna, are you okay?" It was Felix. With a sigh of relief, my fingers combed my hair back. "What happened? You're running out of breath."
I swallow. "There... I saw someone, hiding in the dark. He's following me." I feel him tense up, pushing me to his back as his eyes scan around.
"Did you see their face?"
"No.. it was dark." I, too, look around. The man that I thought was following me is gone. "Or maybe it was just my imagination... It must have been a dog or a cat."
"Tazanna," he calls and looks down at me. "let me drive you everyday. Starting tomorrow."
"Huh? But that's going to be a lot of trouble for you, Felix. I know you're worried, thank you, but it'll be okay." I set my purse on the table. My feet took me to the kitchen and found a plate of chicken curry and rice wrapped in plastic. My head pops to the door frame, Felix is seated on the sofa with both his arms upon his knees. "Have you eaten?" He heard nothing. Felix seems to be really bothered by what happened earlier. Saying that I am not afraid would be a lie, I've never experienced something like this for the four years that I'd been going home alone. Was that really a person, a man? Or maybe it was only an animal, I was just , surprised and said it was a person. The microwave dings, but Felix remains unbothered. I snap my fingers in front of his face as he leans backwards. "You okay?"
"Yeah, sorry. Were you saying something?"
"You can pick me up from work starting tomorrow."
"Do you mean it? That would really help me relax. I am thinking about who was following you just now..."
"I know you're really concerned, and if doing that could ease your mind, I'll agree with it." Felix pulls me into a tight hug, but enough to not squeeze me. It really does bother him, well if he was the one being followed, I'd worry too so I understand. "Have you eaten dinner yet?"
"A little, I wanted to eat together with you but I got hungry." He scratches the back of his head while I chuckle.
The morning after that, Felix couldn't take me to work. Piper had called him and he had to rush to their company, even left without breakfast. I still have two hours, which means I can make Felix some lunch. I'll arrive at work by ten-forty, that's just great! Pulling the fridge door open, I realize we have limited stock of food but these will do for today. I can buy some groceries on my day off. I finished by nine-thirty, got in the shower and left home immediately. The bus stop from here isn't too far, and the ride to Felix's building wasn't long. A woman who seems to be in her mid-20's on the front desk greeted me with a lovely smile. "How have you been, Ms. Yera? Mr. Klaus is currently on a meeting right now. Shall I let him know you are here?" The lady seems to know me when I don't even have any idea who she is. The past was really changed... A lot.
"Oh there's no need, I'm just here to bring him some lunch. Can I proceed to his office then?"
"Of course, fourth level. I will tell his secretary so he can assist you from there."
"Thank you very much."
This building is not the one I can remember. It is bigger and wider than before, I guess the business is booming now that Felix is the new CEO. There is no surprise in that though, he has always been a hardworker. I am happy to know that his father had recognized all of his work and entrusted the whole company to him. I remember that time when he was just starting, he got scolded by the bosses for a lot of times. He did not want to use his father's influence, he wanted them to see him for who he was. I really admired him for that. The best part of that though was when they found out Felix actually is the son of the President. They were dumbfounded, apologized to Felix nonstop for yelling at him and begged him to not fire them. It was hilarious but it made me realize how powerful he was being the son of Gregory Klaus, and his father himself. Yet Felix remained humble and kind to all of the employees, and I fell more in love with him than ever before because of that.
"Tazanna..?" Just when I am thinking of him, he appears in front of me. He looks really neat and professional in a suit and tie. I never knew that what was once a quiet boy in highschool could become the CEO of one of the very known companies in the world. He grabs my waist and planted a soft kiss on my cheek. "What are you doing here? You should've called me.."
"You didn't have breakfast this morning, right? So I came to bring you some lunch." We are inside his office. His secretary helped me get here, without him, I must have lost my way then I would really need to call Felix. He took the lunchbox in his hands and carefully opened them. "It is not much, I found out that we do not have enough food stock. I'm gonna need to do some grocery shopping on my day off."
"When is your day off?"
"This Sunday, why?"
"I do not have work that day, too. We can go together."
That made me smile. "That's wonderful." I had always dreamt of buying groceries with him. We never got to do that before, the day of our move in to our new house, was the same day he had to leave for the "business trip". This is one of those times I feel so happy he is back. I take a look at my watch. "Oh! I need to go!"
"Already?" he pouts.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I wish I could stay longer. I need to get to work at eleven, and it is quarter to ten. I'll see you later, hm?" I give him a peck on the lips and he giggles.
"Don't go anywhere, you hear?"
"Yes, sir!"
