Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Bookstore

"Why did you do that?" Liam asked Mar as soon as they squeezed themselves in Blue's coupe.

The omega was in the driver seat, and the two alphas jumped into the backseat, none of them bothered to pull the front passenger seat back up.

"Do what?" Mar asked back, his magenta eyes locked with Liam's blue ones.

"You provoked them on purpose." Liam sighed and leaned over the passenger seat to give Blue a look. "You too, Baby Blue. Am I in a scheme I'm unaware of?"

"K-kinda." Blue giggled as she hid her face in her hands. "It was all M-Mar's idea. I was passing by to see you guys, and Mar w-wanted to throw some rocks at Laura."

"Hey! I didn't say that!" Mar shouted back, his lips slowly grew into a grin as he talked. "I thought you're the one who wanted to bury her six feet underground."

"B-burying is inefficient." Blue deadpanned, which only adds to her charm. "She has a c-car. I propose we plan a hijack and make it look like an accident."

Liam couldn't help but smile at her dry humor. "Why did you even bring up Rex?"

"Yeah, is he really gonna pick us up?" Mar leaned on Liam's shoulder, looking at Blue in the driver's seat.

"Mn." Blue smiled as she typed on her screen. The map showed their next destination, which is an old bookstore not far away. "He's p-piloting, so you still have to drive to the airport."

"Why can't he drive to us or something?" The black haired alpha groaned as Blue drove out of the block.

"Dr. and Dr. Velison don't complain." The omega chuckled, and Liam grinned at the mention of his parents.

"And ya, little lady. How are you gonna go? With us?" The taller alpha asked.

"No, sorry." The omega took a sip of her bubble tea right after she apologized, then she put it down. "I have to meet up with my f-family for dinner tonight. I-I'm going with them."

Mar snorted and put his hands on Blue's shoulder. She wasn't bothered by it as the car was parked in front of the bookstore. The trio piled out of the car and walked into the bookstore, bumping into one another for fun.

The middle aged woman behind the counter gave them dirty looks, and Blue didn't seem to notice as she went straight to the aisle that's labeled "Marriage". None of them talked about going to the bookstore to get anything, and the taller alpha sneaked a look at Mar, who looked back at him.

The black haired alpha smiled softly, the lighting from the bookstore and the store window made his lightly tanned skin glow. His white attire contrasts well with the warm brown background.

Liam smiled back. Maybe one day they'll steal a kiss in between the bookshelves, just not today. The platinum blond alpha stood next to his best friend, and without a word, his hand reached for those slender fingers. Mar chuckled as Liam entangled their fingers together. The shorter alpha bumped his shoulders with Liam, and they had their little moment of bumping each other back and forth before Blue reappeared out of the bookshelves again.

"You t-two are so cute." She giggled as she passed them to the counter.

The platinum blond alpha looked at the book she got, and he was surprised to see the title.

"Traditional courtship for Alpha and Omega?" Mar read out the title, his face completely blank. "Blue, who are ya trying to prank?"

The middle aged cashier looked at the book, then at the omega, then at the book again before she bagged it up for Blue.

"I'm marrying your b-brother." The omega thanked the cashier before she grabbed the bag and walked out.

Okay, what the hell? Which Brother? Mar has seven available older brothers. Liam silently prayed that it's not Rex. Even then, why would she buy a book on the subject? Information can be obtained for free online or at any library. Do people nowadays even follow the traditional method anymore? Laura and Mar and almost every couple he knows sure as hell didn't, and Liam wouldn't do it either, unless Mar asks for it.

"Hold up, you didn't shutter!" The black haired alpha ran after her, and Liam followed after them.

Their long strides easily caught up with her at the car, and the alphas crawled into the backseat, closed the door and waited patiently for her to get in before they started interrogating her.

"So..." Liam started as soon as she shut the door to the driver's seat. "Anything you need ta tell us?"

Jet black eyes looked back at the alpha, and the omega smiled. Red slowly dusted her cheeks, and the two alphas snapped their heads to look at one another before looking at the omega again.

"Shit fucks, who got you blushing like this?" The platinum blond alpha ran his hands through his hair. "Don't tell me it's Rex."

Her blush deepened as she hid her face behind the book that she just bought.

"I can't see anyone else really, but hell, I got six other siblings who are available for marriage, and you just have to choose that one?" Mar groaned, bumping his head into Liam's shoulder. "Baby Blue, I understand that you pick what makes you happy, but holy shit..."

Besides beating up Mar and Liam, Rex's other favorite thing to do was memorizing animal facts to impress Blue. Liam remembered an entire eighteen years old grown ass man pointed at crab on the beach and decided that he's a walking encyclopedia. Little baby Blue looked at him with stars in her eyes, and... Lord, Liam thought she was just innocently admiring him. Rex and Blue did go to the same high school, and they graduated in the same year, but Blue is two years younger than Rex.

This is where Liam is gonna do another mental gymnastics to understand why the hell did Blue choose Rex of all people. The platinum blond alpha side-eyed Mar, and his best friend's purple eyes looked back at him. At this moment, it feels like they're sharing a single braincell, and they're trying to let the fact that Blue wants to court Rex.

Well, first of all, they know that Rex would never ask Blue out because even though he's a bully, he chickened out whenever Blue and mating are mentioned in a conversation. Dude would rather go into the military than tell his father that he wants the little omega who has no scent. Rex did just that. From their talk this morning, Mar mentioned that Blue was the only one keeping in touch with the fucker while he's deployed, so something happened during that time?

Purple eyes blinked up at him, and Liam blinked back. Mar cleared his throat and leaned on the driver's seat so that he could be face to face with Blue.

"Blue, what the hell happened?" The black haired alpha's voice is in the same tone as a parent scolding their child.

Blue wiggled in her seat a little, her back to the door and her hands hugging the book to her chest.

"Blue, please tell us." Liam sighed as he leaned on Mar, trying to assert the same dominance as a protective parental figure. "I know we haven't talked much these few years, but you kinda worry us right now."

"Did you two mate?" Blue's small voice caught both alphas off guard.
