My heart sank as I watched the news report, my eyes fixated on the screen. The words echoed in my mind, "Former police commissioner, Martin Mancini was found dead." It felt like a punch to the gut, the realization hitting me like a ton of bricks. And there, right before my eyes, was Riccardo's father, being loaded onto a stretcher and placed inside an ambulance.
I turned to Riccardo, my eyes filled with concern and sorrow. His face had turned pale, his usual vibrant energy replaced by a profound sadness. I could see the pain etched in his eyes, the weight of the news bearing down on him. Without a word, I reached out and took his hand in mine, offering what little comfort I could.
