/Eliana's POV/
"Let me do my job," I mimicked his words as I got out. "Is he kidding? I'm the one who got robbed by the girl he slept with. What a taste he has?!" I didn't notice I was saying it out loud until I bumped into someone.
"Sorry to hear that," the man held my arms. I glared at him as I yanked myself from his grip. "some people have bad taste,"
"What do you want?" I tried to maintain my poker face.
"Look, Amorina, I can't focus on anything. All I could think of is that you are ignoring me. I know I shouldn't have tried to control you and I'm truly sorry," he held my hands gently. "Hit me, shoot me, kill me, do anything you want with me, but please don't ignore me," his eyes started getting wet.
"Just because you can't focus on anything it doesn't mean that I should talk to you!" I faked a smile.
"Okay, don't talk to me. As you wish. But please," he cupped my cheeks, "Eat your meal properly. You haven't eaten dinner last night, you didn't eat anything today and it's already 2 a.m. I also brought lunch," he smiled innocently, I pressed my lips to prevent my smile. I know I was overreacting but I didn't expect him to be this concerned. Who am I lying? Of course, I know he would be concerned. And it's time to have some fun.
"Did you make it?" I raised a brow.
"No, I know you won't eat the food I made," the beam never left his lips, "I asked Paula," he removed his hands from my cheeks. "and I didn't tell her that I made you mad," he wiped the corner of my lips. 'God, it's so hard to stay mad at him?'
"I don't need it. I already ate with Leo," his smile finally dropped, but he returned it within a second. "But, I missed Paula's food,"
"Sure, can I be with you today?" he removed a strand of hair from my face, "I missed you a lot,"
"As long as you don't annoy me," I looked away. It's no longer easy for me to stay mad at him.
"I—"
"I'm done," Riccardo came out of the room. Edoardo's face immediately went off. His jaw clenched, brows frowned, and his fist tightened.
"I didn't expect you here," I turned to him as he said that.
"I found a bracelet and fake nail," he said, completely ignoring Edoardo's words.
"Hope you find her this time. I'm tired of you guys not keeping your promises," I replied, smiling.
"How ironic for you to talk about promises," he was still focusing on his piece of paper. "I will find her in three days," he looked up at me.
"Three days?" he gave me a nod and went out pushing Edoardo away. I rolled my eyes at his attitude, he was getting on my last nerve.
"Let's eat lunch," Edoardo said, slightly shaking his head. As I was about to go, Riccardo turned to me.
"I need some information. You have to come to a police station with me," Edoardo pocked his tongue inside his cheek as he looked away.
"I can't, I have company," I wrapped my hand around Edoardo's arms. Riccardo was disgusted by us.
"Fine," with that, he left. I took my hands away from Edoardo's arms and went to my office.
When we reached my office, he opened it for me and I got in. He didn't say anything and started taking the food out of the container. It was a Lasagna, she knows my favorite. I didn't wait for him. I just started digging into my meal.
"I wanted to stay quiet, but," he was playing with the glass beside the chair. I looked at him confused. "I can't,"
"What is it?"
"Why was he here?"
"Something personal," I moved my attention back to my food.
"I thought there was nothing personal between us," he looked at me with a raised brow. 'Hot, but offensive,' I thought.
"Well, I have," I threw the fork on the table. "Do you have a problem with that?"
"Yes, I have a problem when my girl hides something from me!" despite the words he was spitting, he seemed very calm.
"So I have to submit myself to you? I can't have a private life anymore?" I scoffed.
"What do you mean by private? Your enemy was here! Did you forget how he wanted to send you to jail?" his veins started popping out so did mine.
"I haven't!" I slammed the table as I got up.
"Then why is he here?!" he also got up.
"I'm not obligated to tell you!" I looked dead into his eyes as I said.
"I have the right—"
"I don't remember giving you the right," I gritted my teeth. My blood is boiling at every word that is coming out of his mouth.
"You did, the day you said yes to my proposal"
"Wow! So you proposed because you want to have control over me?!" I pointed at myself as I said that.
"No!" he sighed, "I'm just trying my best to know about the things that bother you!"
"The only thing that is bothering me is that you are invading my privacy!"
"I just wanted to know what he was doing inside your club!" he raised his voice slightly.
"Now you're just being a control freak!"
"I'm not!" he sounded offended. "I want to protect you! That's all!" he let out a loud breath.
"I don't need your protection! I'm not the Eliana you used to know! I have grown up! I will not be clinging on you for every single thing like I used to!"
"You have never clung to me. As much as I wanted you to be!" anger filled his voice even though he wasn't shouting. I was taken aback when he said that.
"I. . . I—"
"It's because of him, isn't it?" his words clicked the part of me that was not healed yet. I blinked my tears away as I diverted my gaze to the empty wall. "I can't believe it!" he scoffed, rubbing his face in pure frustration.
"All these years I thought you loved me when you. . ." he said laughing with a huff.
"Don't connect the empty dots!"
"I'm not connecting any dots, Eliana!" he slammed his palm on my table as he lean closer to my face. "The truth is that I'm never going to have your trust, thanks to that one wrong guy!"
"You know how much I suffered because of that one wrong guy, right?" I'm shaking inside but I didn't let it change my strong appearance.
"It's been eight years already!"
"So, you're just gonna bring my past to argue with me?" a tear escaped my eyes as I wiped it away, "You know what? Fuck you!" I picked up my phone and car keys as I walked away.
"So typical," he scoffed. "You always run,"
"At least I don't attack people by mentioning their darkest past!" I opened the door, "I never thought you did all those things just to bring it up and say how easy it was," saying that, stormed off. I know I was being childish but that doesn't mean he should mention that. He knows how much I suffered, he was there. I never thought he would go this far. I guess at the end of the day everything is about give and take. With these thoughts in my mind, I went to my car and drove off to where this all began.
