Placed before me was the mathematics question paper and an answer booklet, as we waited for the appointed time, death was walking in. Some began to pray, others began to settle and ease up, you could tell from the atmosphere in the school hall that everyone was focused, serious and ready to give it their all. Soon it was time to begin.
Invigilator: placed before you is a a question paper and an answer booklet from the examination council of Zambia, the code of this particular paper is 5012/1 under no circumstances should you open this paper without being told to do so, carefully read through the instructions before and after you open the question paper, if you have any questions or queries please raise your right hand and an invigilator will attend to you. If you have been given a wrong question paper other than the one I have mentioned please immediately notify any invigilator before you even dare to open that question paper. You may begin, best of luck Young men!
At this we began, I flipped the first page and what I saw was exactly what I studied the other day, a similar question but asked in a different way.
After having such a horrible first paper yesterday this was some how like a gift from the council, it was almost like a compensation for the first paper, but I knew how these people prepare their questions, they don't intend for us to pass and succeed, but they intend for us to fail miserably and learn something from it, but when push came to shove I hit the nail on the head. After writing the entire first section with no issues I went to the second section out of three, this damned section consumed alot of my time, because it had very difficult questions, questions I had never come across in my entire 2 years of junior high school, I didn't want to waste much of my time on things I didn't know how to solve, so as tactical as possible I only answered questions that I could solve and I found this to move to my advantage, I was soon cruising through the second section and before I knew it I was already in the third and final section.
"This is it Wiliam you're almost there, you only have a few questions left and then you can have a one on one with the second question, class six type zero questions." I thought to myself
These questions required a certain level of IQ to understand, comprehend, and tackle. Only a few, the best of the best destined for greatness could even attempt such a thing, but as grand as it sounds we wouldn't even be able to tell if what we solved was right, because all we got back was the grade you scored and nothing else, but let us stay in the present my grades will come after we conclude some parts.
I did what I could, and fought for what I can, the end result was a sympathetic boy "William".
After that it was time for the invigilators to collect the answer booklets, then we were told to go home, for those that didn't have another paper later that day, as for those that had something else that day they had to remain and wait for the appointed time.
"Is it enough to get me to senior high school?" I akesd myself
But I didn't receive an answer from myself, because my mind was also in a paradox at the time.
Time flew by, each day a different subject, each day a different question and different answers, nothing was as indifferent as this week, but soon it was the last day and the last paper of the final exams, well oiled and ready to take it on, head first that is, I moved in a height increasing trajectory nothing could bring me down. Concisely that particular day some boys had a squabbles about a girl or something related to a someone sleeping with his best friend's sister or something of some sort.
"These nitwits now is not the time for nonsense, you're only in the 9th grade and you people are already having sex?" I yelled
*One of the guys involved responded*
"How would you feel if your best friend slept with your little sister? Do you know what that shit does to you William? How do you think I felt?" The guy replied.
"Did this dude really just say this to me? And at the phase I'm at right now? It's not like he slept with you dude" I thought to myself
"First of all, your sister is like what 15? 16? She knows what she was doing when she let him hit, bro, you seriously need to focus more on yourself, don't get involved in such scandalous events even if you're related. Secondly this best friend nonesense should stop, I for one find that someone who knows too much about you is too dangerous to keep around, I mean he literally fucked your sister!-" I was interrupted by Ishmael.
Ishmael: William stop!
Me: Ishmael shut it, if I don't tell these two the truth no one else will not even their own fathers. You heard me right I'm talking to you, your friend here is what we all know as a low life bottom feeder, everyone knows the bro code Isn't it? It clearly says that and I quote " Your Bros Sister is also your sister, never make an advance to your bros sister, but his step mother is approachable with his consent" I don't care how dumb you think this is you just have to get it through your thick skull so now apologize to eachother for all the bad things you said to eachother-
The guys: but-
Me: I said apologize!
The first guy: I'm sorry for all the bad things I said to you and about your family.
Second guy: I'm also sorry for all the mean things I said about your body.
Me: Good, but as for now I think this friendship shouldn't continue, he slept with your sister, and if he fucked her once he will definitely do it again, so it is in your best interests that you stop associating with eachother anymore.
"Damn these idiots, we have geography in less than an hour and I haven't even gone through the review of the world map I really wanted to study, geez for fucks sake" I thought to myself
It was finally time to enter the school hall for the last time that week. After a solid 2hours of map reading, geological surveys and hazard mentions the exams were over, and we could breathe in some Oxygen at the very least.
This dance soon came to an end, geography was surprisingly easy, and we came out of the school hall all excited.
Ishmael: Damn that felt like a trick paper, did anyone else find it surprisingly easy?
Me: I thought I was imagining things, I also found it that way, you don't think it's a rip off do you?
Ishmael: I doubt, the entire country wrote the same shit, so it's highly unlikely.
But before we went home, I promised Christine a while back that I'd see her immediately after the last paper, so while others went home, I re routed my way home to go pick her up from school.
"I'm sure she's waiting for me, she has to"
It took me a while to get to "Libala" since it was roughly about a 30 minutes walk from the Arakan barracks to her school. 30minutes later I arrived at her school, It was nearly deserted, I thought that maybe she left with her friends because she got tired and bored of waiting for me, so I looked around but I couldn't see her, I searched some more for close to ten minutes, just as I was about to give up I heard her cute voice screaming out to me "William!" "Will I am!" "Did you miss me?"
Nothing could ever compare to how she made me feel.
"She waited for me, even though she remained alone, she waited for someone like me, wow maybe she really is the one." I thought to myself
She was running towards me, and her chest was following the motion, it was a sight for sore eyes.
She jumped and hugged me, she felt so warm, I felt so safe, I felt like I could be with her forever, I didn't want this moment to ever fade or end, I love her so much, more than she could ever figure out, she was my solar system, the lunar eclipse to all my depression, she was ecstasy.
We held eachother with no words, we just felt eachother and all our stress was relieved and washed away by our affection. After about nearly 5minutes of this I pulled back and saw some tears in her eyes, then I asked her.
Me: Christine are you ok? Did you miss me short stack?
Christine: pshh I couldn't miss you if I tried.
Me: We both know you playing, you are smiling just at the thought of my name haha, well since you're too weak to admit it, I'll admit it for you *mimicking her voice* "oh how I missed you William, carry me home I'm so tired"
Christine: haha I don't sound like that, what a genuine princess you are.
Me: I'm not a princess, ah.
Christine: yes you are, just look at your face, if anything you are basically Cinderella!
Me: let's see how much of a Cinderella I am shall we?
I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close then i asked her.
" So who feels like the Cinderella now?"
As we looked into eachother's eyes, we got lost in a void of silence.
I was losing my mind after I realised that I just made the first move.
What she did after that shocked me.
But I guess we shall find out what it was in the next chapter won't we?
Catch it next week.
