Audrey quietly pushed the baby cart into the corner at the back of the office where her desk was. This would be the fourth day she had to bring her daughter to work without letting management know about it. Some colleagues had been giving her the ‘look’, well just one, actually.
“She’d better not cry today, otherwise, I will report you to 8th floor.” The obese woman whom the staff called ‘Queen Kong’ behind her back spat spitefully at Audrey. As soon as she said those words, the baby started to cry.
Another colleague fended Audrey’s girl. “Funny she only cries when she sees your face!” Faint snickering was heard across the floor.
Audrey felt bad and started pulling the baby cart out but was stopped by Andrew. He had just walked in. He picked up the baby and she stopped crying immediately. Andrew turned towards the woman they nicknamed ‘Queen Kong’. “You just have to smile and she will stop crying!”
