Chereads / The Merry Knight / Chapter 3 - Trying My Hand

Chapter 3 - Trying My Hand

"Quickly enter the game, it took so long, and with such abnormal attributes, I wasn't even rewarded with a hidden profession. It seems that hidden professions are indeed difficult to obtain, or perhaps they require triggering a mission to obtain. I must strive for it."

"Enter the game!" I shouted out loud. "King of Glory, here I come!"

"Welcome player 'Stone City' to the Newbie Village No. 3256. You can only leave the Newbie Village after reaching Level 10 and choosing a city to embark on your first profession. Have a pleasant journey," a series of flashes and system prompts later, I arrived at the Newbie Village.

"Wow, there are so many people," the Newbie Village was crowded with players, bustling and bustling with excitement. "King of Glory" is indeed popular.

Turning around, I saw that all the newbie players were dressed in the same thin clothes. Fortunately, the system provided a set of clothes, which I immediately put on, lest I reveal my body. I looked at my equipment and saw that I had a wooden sword, a white equipment with no requirements, and an attack power of 5.

Newbie shirt, white equipment, no requirements, defense power of 5.

Newbie pants, white equipment, no requirements, defense power of 5.

With these equipment, my attack and defense stats immediately changed to 45 and 50 respectively.

Before rushing to fight monsters, I knew that it was better to look for missions first. Doing missions has many benefits, and this is my experience playing games.

"Village Chief Grandpa, I'm here. Is there anything I can help with?" As the "Flying Sky" console that controls "King of Glory" has a certain degree of intelligence, the NPCs have the ability to think, so I am very polite.

"The holy light that has kept the Peaceful Dream Continent calm for three thousand years is fading away. The demons are reviving, and the Dark Lord is awakening. A bloody and disastrous storm is about to come. If we can't stop the Dark Lord, re-seal or kill him, humanity will be destroyed. Stone City! Are you willing to embark on the path of a warrior for the fate of humanity and your own glory, to search for the legendary power, inherit the mission bestowed upon you by the Goddess of Dreams, and fight the Dark Lord to the death, becoming a hero of humanity?" The village chief spoke solemnly, and with his wise eyes, it was indeed a matter of life and death.

"Not really, it's too serious. I play games to relax and earn some money for myself and my little sister. Please don't pressure me." I thought to myself, but said, "Village Chief, I am willing."

"The Goddess of Dreams is with you. The village is surrounded by some enchanted monsters. I hope you can eliminate them, hone your abilities, and become a warrior."

"In Stone City, the Village Chief entrusts you with the task of killing 20 enchanted tigers and obtaining 20 tiger tails. Do you accept?" The system prompt asks.

"I accept."

"Stone City, I am glad you have such enthusiasm, but it is not enough. Your abilities are not strong enough yet. First, find some weak monsters at the entrance of the village to train yourself and become stronger before going to eliminate the enchanted tigers."

"I understand." I ran towards the blacksmith's weapon shop.

"Blacksmith, I am here. Is there anything you need help with?"

"It's Stone City. Those cursed rats stole my golden iron hammer. Can you help me get it back?" The blacksmith wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Of course, no problem, Blacksmith. You can count on me."

"These days, there are many warriors coming to the village, and my ores are running low. Can you help me collect some ores on your way?"

"No problem."

"Stone City accepts the blacksmith's commission, learns 'mining skills', and receives the 'iron pickaxe' as a gift from the blacksmith. You need to collect 10 iron ores."

Iron Pickaxe, Requirements: None, Used for mining.

"Pharmacist, I am here. Is there anything you need help with?" After completing the blacksmith's task, I went to the pharmacist's drugstore.

"It's Stone City. Yesterday, when I went to pick herbs, enchanted wolves took my golden medicine cauldron. Can you help me get it back?" The pharmacist smiled.

"Of course, no problem, Pharmacist. You can count on me."

"These days, there are many warriors coming to the village, and my herbs are running low. Can you help me collect some herbs on your way?"

"No problem." Since the pharmacist and the blacksmith spoke in the same manner, I didn't change my tone.

The city of Stone accepted the commission of the pharmacist, learned the "herbalism" skill, and received a "herbal shovel" gifted by the pharmacist. The task required collecting 10 pieces of hemostatic medicine.

The herbal shovel has no specific requirements and is used for herbalism.

After wandering through the entire newbie village, I came across only these three NPCs. I wonder how these old bachelors manage to survive. Let's take a look at the tasks I received:

"Commission from the Village Chief: Common task, intermediate level, kill 20 enchanted tigers, and obtain their tails as proof."

"Golden Hammer of the Blacksmith: Common task, low level, obtain a golden hammer, and mine 10 iron ore."

"Golden Cauldron of the Pharmacist: Common task, low level, obtain a golden cauldron, and collect 10 pieces of hemostatic medicine."

Tasks are divided into common tasks, hidden tasks, unique tasks, and unique hidden tasks. According to the official website, there are all sorts of peculiar tasks that players need to explore, as the rewards for these tasks are extremely lucrative.

"How stingy! They don't even offer any divine or magical artifacts, or even a hidden task. Poor me, my luck of 20 didn't bring me any additional benefits. How depressing," I complained as I walked outside the village.

With the tasks accepted, it was time to level up by defeating monsters. That's just how games are, there's no other choice.

The entrance to the village was filled with slaughter. A group of players eagerly kept an eye out for opportunities. As soon as they spotted a rabbit, they rushed over and fought over it, leaving the poor creature with no chance to even see the world.

Using my "insight" skill, I could see the magic rabbit clearly: Level 1, 100 health, and a preference for large carrots.

Players could only see the name of the monster, but not their health. They had to rely on killing monsters to estimate their health. However, with my "insight" skill, I not only had access to the monster's health value, but also a red health bar, giving me a clear understanding of the monster's strength.

"Insight" is really amazing! I couldn't help but marvel at it. Knowing oneself and the enemy is the key to success in killing monsters and leveling up quickly.

How cruel! Although it's a demonized rabbit that has strayed from the righteous path and turned to the dark side, its furry appearance and clever big eyes are very cute. It's really hard to bring myself to do it! I complained.

When you can't taste the grapes, you naturally say they're sour. There were so many people there that I didn't have a chance to get involved. I had to abandon the demonized rabbit and slowly walk towards the outskirts of the village.

After leaving the demonized rabbit's territory, I saw a group of hedgehogs. Only a few players were able to handle a single hedgehog, and they were all in awkward positions. It would take a group of four or five players to easily deal with the hedgehogs. It seems that hedgehogs are quite powerful.

Using "Insight," I could see that the demonized hedgehog was level 3 with 150 health and can rebound attacks.

With one stroke, the demonized hedgehog took an -80 hit to its head, and after a couple more hits, it turned into my experience. Its attributes were really abnormal, it was even easier to kill than a level 1 demonized rabbit killed by a level 1 player.

Fortunately, everyone was working hard and in a rush to level up, so they didn't notice my abnormality. Otherwise, someone would definitely have objections.

Level 3 demonized hedgehogs couldn't satisfy my attacks, so I continued to move forward. After leaving the hedgehog's territory and crossing over a hill, there were no longer any crowds. I saw a group of tiger-sized rats with gray fur and fiery red eyes, wandering around and guarding some shining metal.

Using "Insight," I could see that the demonized rat was level 5 with 200 health and guarding the iron mine.

This demonized rat was what I was looking for, daring to steal the blacksmith uncle's beloved golden iron hammer. I rushed up and made my move.

With one stroke, the demonized rat took a -50 hit to its head. After being scratched by the demonized rat, my head showed a -10, but it was okay. A level 5 demonized rat wasn't dangerous to a level 1 player like me.

-100, -100. "Ding! Congratulations on Stone City's level up, now at level 1, with a health increase of 10 and magic increase of 10. You have 5 attribute points to allocate." My luck was really good, as I was able to continuously land critical hits. This demonized rat was also quite lucky, as it ate two critical hits in a row and died quickly. I also leveled up.

I opened the status bar and allocated the 5 attribute points to strength and constitution in a 3:2 ratio.
