Chapter 4 - Levi Arcane

Torma..(Earth).

It was hard to sleep that night..

Mainly because I slept downstairs on the couch while Levi had my room, he even brought out most of my stuff.

It was like he was here forever.

I snuggled close to the inclination on the chair trying to get comfortable.

I woke up to the sound of curtains being drawn before the bright light molested my eyes. A large shadow embraced me as it slipped out of the door.

The scent of my dad flooded the room before it disappeared like I had fabricated it. I sat up rubbing my eyes before sauntering to the door. I opened it to the sight of nothing like no one had just left. I moved back inside with the same frown on my face as the morning when the animal left just as I met this guy living in my house.

I sat at the kitchen table watching how mum and the stranger laughed about talking things I didn't know.

How do they know each other?

Danielle is like a..... whooooole lot older than him. If that's what I think?

I looked away from them when he turned to place food on the table. I held out my phone and pretended to focus, I felt his piercing gaze on me as placed the plates in order.

'Phone down!' He ordered. His voice was firm and commanding but I didn't barge. I looked up at him adding a slight roll for more drama.

I turned on my music popping in my headset to make it more obvious that I didn't care.

He growled quickly snatching my phone, I shot back taken back by how wild he sounded. I watched in shock as my phone crumbled in his hand.

'What the hell?' I yelled. Danielle stepped in giving me a pointed look. I thumped the table before rushing out. 'Stay the fπck out of my life!' I directly sent it to the Levi guy.

I could hear my her apologizing as I slammed the door shut.

I spent my whole day running about the place avoiding the tree. I reached Taller Street, a replay happened as I scoffed at how pathetic I was trying to help him.

Around the corner, I sighed as I knew I was close to the route heading home. I looked to my left not wanting to see the tree. I moved up ahead when I noticed I bee hive, oh..I hated bees and was actually deathly allergic to them including honey.

I stepped back trying not to draw any attention from them. I hated that my only route back home would be past the tree. I would either try the bees and die or suck up my fear and go past the tree. I chose the tree because I wouldn't be that bad anyway. I slowly retreated to the path occasionally kicking rocks. It was getting darker but I wasn't in the mood to get home yet either.

I stopped by the last hedge that blocked me and the tree. I wasn't going back on this, I motivated myself softly letting a few tears drop down my cheeks.

'Why did you have to leave, dad?' I cried dropping on my knees and playing with the plants. I sat there letting the emotions I held inside flow out. I wanted to do without anyone watching or having pity on me.

I pushed up taking a peek at the tree, my cries got louder and harder. I sat there for a while breathing until I could feel ready to leave.

***

I woke up to the sound of wind rushing through leaves. The sun shone bright above the hedge and it was only few moments until the sun was right above me.

I looked for my phone immediately when I remembered I couldn't check for the time because it was smashed by a certain someone.

Yippee..

I sat up forgetting where I was and instantly moved from the protection of the hedge. The tree stood proud before me as the light burned past the sleep on my face. It was certainly hot for morning..unless it wasn't.

I watched in awe how big the tree was. The leaves I had assumed were, were no longer there but now naked dry crooked branches.

I stared at it feeling dizzy from how tall it was. Fearlessly, I walked closer trying to feel its texture. I took long slow suspicious steps towards the tree. I hesitantly reached my finger to it and ran it down the back. A dark algae like thing rested on it and sprung back in place after my finger left the particular spot.

I did the same thing over and over feeling happy at its response.

''Oww!' I winced suddenly feeling a sting on my finger. I looked the red training rolling down my finger onto the ground. Some of it on the back dried up immediately as I stepped away. Another drop from my finger landed on the dry ground.

Tiny worm like roots broke loose from the ground quickly draining my blood. I turned to run when I tripped on a root that hadn't been there originally.

I fell to the ground suddenly noticing the number of roots and vines covering the ground that was dry and bare at first. What was this tree?

I felt a vine tighten around my leg, various of them grew towards my finger and I struggled to keep it up. I screamed immediately realizing this was real. My struggles died down as I lost breath. I had to find a way to break free. I felt an unbearable pain as I watch a small root insert itself into my fingertip. Another developed a sharp tip before injecting itself into my other fingertip. The process repeated for my other fingers and continued to my wrists, I hated how painful it was when the roots slipped into my skin.

The vines at my legs tightened, numbing them. I couldn't feel my legs and felt like they'd been ripped off so I wouldn't escape.

I thrusted my arms and managed to disrupt the roots. A set of vines popped out of the ground around my elbows before pinning them down. I watched in horror as a root slipped into my arm, it's shape formed on my skin as it slithered within.

Goosebumps flooded my skin as an overwhelming pain broke thru my arms as other roots copied the first. I screamed despite my immobility, my screams softened as I felt weaker by the second. Tears run down my cheeks as the algae on the tree slowly wriggled down the tree to my cheek. I felt it's absorptivity as a small vacuuming motion drained the tears from my cheek. Another sting on my cheek reminded me of why I had suspected the tree. The algae attached itself to my cheek slowly creeping to my mouth to shut it.

As if not enough to knock me out, the dark algae begun to cover my skin, I gave one last scream and luckily two large shadows approached me before yanking me out of the nightmare I was in. I watched as the freaks of nature retreated and my eyes met with captivating blue eyes.

He was surprisingly good looking and also my hero.
