The revelation of the Zorin Separatists was a blow to our mission, but it also presented an opportunity. We could work with Kaxar and his government to root out the rogue faction and bring them to justice.
However, as we delved deeper into the conspiracy, it became clear that it was far more complex than we had initially thought. There were powerful forces at play, with interests that spanned across both human and Zorin governments.
I was in my quarters, going through the reports and data we had gathered on the Separatists when I heard a knock on my door. It was Alice, looking worried.
"Captain, we need to talk," she said, stepping inside.
I gestured for her to take a seat. "What's on your mind?"
"I've been going through some of the intel we gathered on the Separatists," she said, handing me a datapad. "And I think I've found something."
I looked at the datapad and frowned. It was a document from a human corporation, outlining a plan to destabilize the Zorin government and exploit its resources.
"What does this have to do with the Separatists?" I asked.
Alice leaned in. "The corporation is funding the Separatists," she said. "They're using them to create chaos and weaken the Zorin government, so they can swoop in and take over."
I felt a surge of anger. "This is outrageous," I said. "We need to bring this to the attention of both governments and put a stop to it."
Alice nodded. "Agreed. But we have to be careful. We don't know how deep this goes, or who else is involved."
I knew she was right. We had to tread carefully, or we could end up making things worse. But we also couldn't sit back and do nothing.
"We'll have to gather more evidence and build a case," I said. "But we have to move quickly. Lives are at stake."
Alice nodded again. "I'll get to work on it right away."
As she left, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were in over our heads. But I also knew that we had a duty to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.
