She wandered deeper into the forest and further away from the path that led to the open road. The trees stood firmly to the ground, and the more the night became colder and darker it was nearly impossible to see as the thick branches blocked the moonlight. The parched leafs ruffled
Under her feet, familiar with the routes she found herself in an open area filled with nothing but grass. She walked to one of the trees, sat down, and leaned backward as her back touched the tree trunk with her legs positioned forward.
She inhaled the air softly as her eyes roamed around the premises to make sure no one was there though it was very rare to see anyone on this side of the forest, there was no harm in checking.
Reaching out for her purse as she brought out the pouch filled with silver coins her thoughts went back to a few hours ago when she was in bed with a vampire under the covers making out the thought alone brought the urge to vomit.
Ever since she came of age and had matured to understand what kind of business madam Peggy runs she was immediately thrown into the same lifestyle. It was much easier after she got to pass the first phase of it, after all, she had everything a man could desire from a woman. Beauty, brains, a lustrous body, and most importantly a very skillful lover in bed.
Her thought continued as she dwelled in memories.

In a magistrate's office a man, sat on a fairly furnished chair with a bored expression on his face as he listen to the magistrate officer who kept rumbling the same thing over again. "I questioned the villagers if they found anything or anyone odd the night when the body was found in the river, they all said that they did not see anyone" the magistrate officer carefully explained the case.
Vernon's red eyes made contact with that of the magistrate officer and immediately he kept his head down with nervousness lingering in his body."no one saw anything, doesn't it sound suspicious Tobias? " he asked his assistant who looked like he was going to pass out any moment from now.
"yes master Vernon " he replied quickly
The magistrate on hearing what the vampire said did not know how to respond it looks like today was the day he was going to die. " that was what I heard".
"what you heard uh " Vernon repeated what the man said "it seems like you have a problem in listening" as he pushed the desk out of his way and move to where the magistrate stood " I don't give a shit about what they said all I want is for you to find the person the vampiress visited and the people she talked with " he places his hands on the magistrate's shoulders and squeezed it. "it won't be good for my health and yours if you don't find them". He gives him a daunting smile.
The atmosphere became tenser as the magistrate's heart skipped a beat and a tiny sweat slid from his face.
They stepped into the village grounds as Vernon walked swiftly on his heel to the direction of the river. "I don't understand why the council picks such useless things to lead villages when they can't handle deaths "
Tobias kept a safe distance between the two of them you never know what mood master Vernon could be in to avoid anything that may lead him to his end.
When they got to the river there was no one there it was extremely quiet because non of the villagers had stepped foot on this side of the village ever since a body was found at the side of the river.
A few days ago a vampiress was reported to be missing and the case was handed to him and his teammates according to the complaint led by her parents that she left the house to attend a tea party but never came back and funny enough the coachman claimed he never saw her after the party was over. And just yesterday the girl was found lifeless two towns away from the place she was last seen at.
She was brutally murdered as half of her body was torn apart and left in the forest while the other part was found by the riverside. He wondered which person was dumb enough not to dispose of the body properly even his butler did a great job of hiding bodies.
"master Vernon how about I check the vicinity again maybe I missed something" Tobias suggested.
"It's good to know that your brain still functions," he said. "meet me later in the carriage" and he strode in the opposite direction.
A vehicle passed the gates into a vast mansion, one could see the beautiful fountains' positioned at the center. Each corner of the walls was beautifully carved, and the designs were made with complete care.
Vernon got out of the carriage and saw the butler standing at the front entrance. The butler hurried to where his master stood, and bow his head. "master Vernon your brother is back ". He sounded a bit worried
"dearest brother is back, where is he"
"he having dinner with your parents "
"What great timing" he remove his coat and gave it to the butler.
He made his way to the dining room.
Senior man Lewis sat at the head of the dining table and lady Ophelia sat next to him followed by Kai.
When Vernon joined them in the spacious room they raised their heads to see who it was.
"brother is good to see you again " Kai stood up to hug Vernon.
Vernon stepped back "seems you forgot"
"o still not a hugger " he withdraws his arms.
Senior man Lewis cleared his throat "why don't you take your seat, Vernon"
Vernon pulled out a chair and sat down, to hear his Father speak "how is the case going with Mr. Foster's daughter, any news yet".
