Four seconds was what was left of the time before the teleportation rune activated, and it was more than enough time for a sainted being to crush him. Well, he didn't have any time to think anymore.
Setting its eyes on Seth, the dragon gazed at the tablet in his arms, as though knowing that it was on a time crunch, it dashed for Seth. "Three seconds," Seth counted inwardly, jumping to the side, he still hardly avoided the beast, the arms of the beast barely missed him, but still barely as unawakened to survive an attack of a saint even if it was non-force supported and even if it barely hit you was a miracle on its own, but at least he wasn't caught in its claw, nor was the tablet, but he must have broken a few ribs.
At the side, Seth was gasping for air as he swam back to the surface hurriedly. He just remembered one crucial fact: he was at the bottom of the pool. "Two," he barely finished registering his thought when he was abruptly pulled backward, grasping the tablet tightly. Seth grinned; if the beast was a little impatient and ripped him to shreds right then he wouldn't have had a chance, but this beast seemed to want to play the patient dog and play with its prey; it was probably planning on pouring its frustration of losing an egg on Seth; too bad he didn't have time to play.
Seth's eyes glinted with determination; he would come back when he was stronger, but then he vanished, leaving a stunned dragon.
At the village, the church had already built a cottage for the two orphans. At that cottage, you would see Sin sitting in front of an egg, watching it intently. One would think that Sin stole the egg to hatch it; after all, a familiar ground dragon was enough to drive even the elders crazy. But if one observed him,d find his mouth watering. Sin had no plans for familiars anytime soon. No, the reason he stole the egg was quite simple; it was simply because he believed it tasted good.
Sin grabbed the egg when all of a sudden a bright flash came out of nowhere, and then Seth's ragged body landed on the floor, looking at the miserable sight. Sin didn't look surprised, nor did he look worried; after all, this wasn't the first time he came back home looking like this, looking at Seth curiously, or, to be more specific, observing the item in Seth's grasp.
Looking up at Sin's gaze, he said, "What are you waiting for? Get me the pills." Seth's voice crocked he's face scowled at the pain he felt as he spoke it seemed as though those few of his ribs pierced his lungs, it seemed like he would have to finish all the pills he saved so far, hearing Sin's footsteps coming closer he struggled to sit up at least he did, Sin handed the pills to him, Seth accepted them quickly stuffing them into his mouth, these pills were known as body weaving pills and it was concocted by the villages alchemist, how could Seth get these pills you might be wandering he's very close to the alchemist, she dotes on him quite well, so any time he comes back from his suicide missions she always provided him with pills, but Seth never takes them he was saving them for today after all his initial plan would have left him half dead if anything he was quite happy for Sin's intervention.
"So tell me you just had to go on a suicide mission just before our awakening; if the elders find out about this, they'll be pissed." Sin teased Seth, glaring back at him. Seth responded "I can say the same for you ", Sin chuckled as he said "At least I didn't come back with broken bones "Wow, that's surprising. If I didn't piggyback you all the way here, I doubt you will be this smug", As the two continued their bickering, they heard a knock on the door. The moment they heard it, they scrambled to hide both the egg and the tablet.
Opening the door, they saw attendant Vice; he was the personal attendant of their foster father, priest Runlove. "The council requests that both of you spend the night at the church today, we should hurry now" he announced to them. Glancing at each other, they both saw the same emotions. In their eyes, anticipation and excitement glowed. Glancing back at the attendant, Sin responded, "We'll be right there; we just need to" He was cut off by Vice "I think I made myself clear when I said the council requests for you both now", Sin wanted to retort at the attendant's rude behavior but was stopped by Seth, glancing at the attendant. Seth had a fiery aura emitted by him as he said, "We are busy now, but we will be there soon." After finishing his statement, both he and Sin went back inside, not waiting for the attendant's reply.
Standing there stunned, Vice regained his senses as he scowled. How could he, a peak awakened, be terrified by an unawakened brat? The aura Seth emitted made him feel bone-deep fear; it's kind of the feeling when a prey stumbles into a predator; it was a feeling he didn't like, and that was one of the reasons he never liked those two orphans. He had no choice but to go back to the church and tell them the boys were in their way.
Entering back into the cottage, Seth said to Sin, "Let's prepare for the ceremony; we will continue with whatever we want to do." Nodding, Sin went into his room. While Seth took the tablet into his room, he sat and carefully observed it. It was made of a dark kind of obsidian rock, and what fascinated him the most was that even though the rock was black, the runic patterns written on it were black, and they were clear enough for him to read them. That was when he noticed that even though he couldn't read the language in which the patterns that were written on the tablet were written, he could understand them.
At the top of the tablet was written the word "nothing." Scrunching his brows in confusion, he read further, and it said, "To know nothing is to be nothing." Seth's confusion only grew; moving further down, it just had three more runes, which were "hollow, empty, nullity".
