Names after names were called out, until finally "Seth Runlove, Sin Runlove", As these two names were called, the attention of the whole crowd focused on the two as they walked out. Not wasting any more time, Sin jumped onto the path and started ascending it. Seth could only smile as he also jumped onto the path, but very much unlike Sin, he couldn't move an inch.
Feeling the gaze of everyone on him, Seth tried to muster every ounce of energy he had to fight against the pressure of the path, but the more he struggled, the more it got worse. "No, no, no, this can't be happening; even the worst so far has ascended at least three steps; how can it be possible; how can I not have any fate; even the fate of a mortal is this far from me. " How can the distance between us be so large? How can I not have any fate?" Seth thought in panic, looking at Sin's back. He was already on his 10th step. Seth's thoughts rang in anger.
Gazing at Seth's struggling figure, Runlove sighed in helplessness. He knew this would happen after all; he was a seer. If others knew of this, they would be shocked, because seers were one step higher than astrologers. You see, Runlove was one of those unfortunate souls with a transcendent-level aspect but born with a mortal fate. These situations were rare but they happened. This morning he already had a vision concerning this, but because of his low level, his visions hardly came to pass. He hoped the same would happen in this situation, but it seemed fate was truly cruel.
On his 12th step, Sin stared, feeling a bit of resistance, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. On his way up the path, not once did he look back; he assumed his brother was right behind him, and he had no intention of letting his brother surpass him, so he pressed forward toward the 13th step, continuing his journey.
Staring at Sin's back, Seth right now was a mess; his clothes were already torn and ragged. From the twisting gravity around the first step of the path, it seemed the path was intent on pressuring Seth till he knelt, and it was not ejecting him immediately, but no matter how the path pressured him, Seth struggled to stand upright, refusing to kneel. "Is this my path? "Nothing?" "Is this my fate?" "Is this all I am? ' Seth's thoughts rang in his head; his gaze began to dull; his eyes lost their usual dark luster; he was beginning to give up.
Behind Seth, the people had started speaking among themselves.
"Poor boy, he has no fate; he's not even destined to be a mortal."
"I heard that the council had a meeting about the two of them; they were meant to be sent to the kingdom, but now, with this sort of result, only one would be sent surely."
"Poor boy, I quite liked him and believed that he was of noble fate, but this"
Seth was there listening, and his gaze, which was dulling, was lit all of a sudden; his eyes were lit with flames of anger. Were they pitying him? If there was anything Seth hated in his life, it was the pity of others. So what if he couldn't ascend the path? He would carve his path. So what if he didn't have fate? He would build his fate. Thinking to this point, isn't walking the path the same as putting a limit on your potential? Why did one need fate to walk the path of power, as Seth thought ran rampant slowly but surely? His back straightened as he stood against the pressure of the path.
meanwhile, Sin finally arrived at the 14th step. Immediately at the hall of the church, the statue of the demigod of the sun lit up all of a sudden. At the top of the church, on the path, Sin's body started glowing, and behind him, the silhouette of the Northgazer appeared. This was why the village was named Northgazer; it held the inheritance of the Northgazer demigod of the sun. Sin's body continued to glow; everyone had to close their eyes at his brightness; even the priests were not exempt.
While everyone's eyes were closed at this brightness, only one eye remained staring at Sin's back; it was Seth. Seth felt that right now if he was to push himself, even with the pressure, he would be able to ascend at least eight steps or so, but he wouldn't; he didn't need fate; he didn't need the path. As Seth's thoughts rang rampant, at the hall of the church another statute lit up, as the vague shadow of the Stargazer, the demigod of the moon flickered behind him. If one were to look at the sky, one would notice the moon, which was meant to show itself only at night, was shining brightly presently as the essence of the moon was transferred to him.
As Seth's body got stronger, the constraint on his body was expelled. As his aspect awoke, the same thing happened to Sin, but no one saw what happened to Seth, so everyone believed that only Sin was blessed by an inheritance and that he was blessed with the Transcendent plane, but they couldn't be more wrong; the person who benefited from this most was Seth. While the inheritance of the Northgazer had been bestowed twice before now, Seth was the first to accept the inheritance of the Stargazer, and obviously, the status came with benefits.
He was granted three techniques, which were named, the moon refinement, the moon embodiment, and the moon hunt.
But that was not what took most of Seth's attention; it seemed that the spirit of the world was speaking to him, and it said, "Walk the path or no essence", Seth smiled; it seemed the world spirit was threatening him.
Seth jumped off the path; he didn't need the world to bestow him with essence so he could use force; the technique the Stargazer's inheritance gave him granted him access to use the force of the moon directly.
summoning his aspect runes, his eyes dilated at what he saw.
