Chapter 3 - 2

Xander

I was on my way to meet one of my fathers friends in human territory when Slade, my wolf, started pacing in my head.

"Dude. What's your issue?"

"MATE! I SENSE MATE!"

"What...?"

Just then I was hit with a faint smell of vanilla and jasmine. My eyes widened.

"GO TO MATE!"

I took off, blindly running in the direction of her scent, my fathers friend now forgotten. Once I reached the corner of the sidewalk, I was fully assaulted by her mouthwatering smell.

"I'll wait here while you go and grab your stuff." I heard my mate say as I slowly walked up. Her voice sounded so soft and gentle.

"Alright then. I'll be right back." Her friend said as she took off jogging up her driveway. As I got close, I reached out my hand to tap her on the shoulder when she suddenly turned, running right into my chest and falling onto the ground. For a second I stood there, stunned. Slowly, I shook my head.

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention!" I said and held out my hand. She looked up and I froze.

"MATE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.' Slade gushed. I could picture him making goo goo eyes as he said this.

'Yes. She definitely is.' I replied as I looked into her eyes. They were stunning. Her right eye was a beautiful amber. Almost to the point it looked like liquid gold. The left, a shocking shade of violet. One would normally think she was wearing a colored contact. Her hair fell in long red waves that she seemed to hide behind as I noticed her staring at me.

"Miss?" I watched as she shook her head, as if to clear her thoughts.

"Yeah. No. Sorry. I spaced out for a moment but yea I am fine. Thank you." She slowly reached up and grabbed my offered hand to pull herself up when a bolt of electricity shot up my arm and startled both of us, causing her to let go and fall back onto the ground. I knew the mate bond was strong, but I didn't know it was that strong. She groaned and looked at me in embarrassment. I watched as she looked at her hand in confusion, then looked back up at me.

'WE HURT MATE' Slade whimpered in my head.

'I know but it wasn't on purpose' I responded.

"Sorry, I was shocked somehow." She said as she grabbed my hand again and pulled herself up. I noticed how small her hands seemed in mine.

'AND SOFT'

'Yes. Very.'

"That's alright. I'm just glad you're okay." I responded as I smiled at her.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Angel. How about you?"

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. My name is Xander. Nice to meet you." She blushed and looked down, playing with the ends of her hair.

Just then, I could hear heavy footsteps coming towards us. I glanced over her shoulder and saw her friend jogging up to us with a confused look on her face. She stopped next to her, panting slightly. As I got a whiff of her scent, I could tell she was a werewolf.

"Who's this?"she asked, looking at me.

"This is Xander. Xander, this is August. I just knocked into him when I went to sit down on the bench over there." She laughed.

"Angel, you're so damn clumsy!"

"Honestly it was my fault. I should have been paying more attention to my surroundings." She said and laughed a little. She looked over at August.

"Are you all ready to go?" She nodded and lifted her bag up.

"Yeah I'm good. Mom and dad are going on a trip this weekend, so I would be by myself anyway. Thanks for the save." She said, winking at her and laughing. Angel looked at me and smiled.

"Well, we had better get going. Again, sorry for running into you." I smiled back.

"That's okay. Like I said, it was my fault anyway. I had walked up to you to ask for your number and you turned right as I did." She blushed and I chuckled.

'I THINK SHE LIKES US'

'Goddess, I hope so.'

"So do you mind if I get your number?" I asked. Before she could answer, August spoke up.

"Nope. Not at all. Here you go." She said and handed her phone over so I could copy Angel's number. I look up to see Angel glaring at her. August looked at her and rolled her eyes.

"Oh shush. We both know you would have been too shy to say yes, so I did it for you. You're welcome." She said and winked at her. My mate stuck out her tongue at her. I laughed and Angel looked at me.

" Well you girls have a great day." I smiled. "I will text you later Angel." I said and smiled again. I turned and started walking away. Waving at them as I turned a corner.

'NO! GO TO MATE! STAY WITH MATE!' Slate yelled in my head and I winced.

'Dude. Calm down. We will as soon as we talk to my father. Don't forget, we have her number now. We can call her later.' I told him.

'YOU BETTER.' He threatened and retreated to the back of my mind. I rolled my eyes and started towards the pack house.

-------------------------------------------------------------

As I reached the end of town I looked around to check to make sure no one was close before shifting into my wolf. My clothes fell off, now in pieces. A moment later stood my wolf, Slade. He stood over six feet in height, black as night except for one patch of white on his chest, which was shaped like a crescent moon.

I watched from the back of our mind as Slade took off running. Trees whizzed by in a blur as we headed towards the pack lands.

Soon, we see the trees thinning out and we slow down to a jog, coming to a stop at the tree line. Two of our warriors greet me with clothes.

"Welcome back, Alpha." They said and bowed their heads slightly. I shifted back and grabbed the clothes offered by them.

"Hey guys. Have you seen my father?" One of the warriors, Mark I believe, stepped forward.

"Last I saw him was in the pack house kitchen Alpha." I looked at Mark and smiled.

"Thanks man." I said as I started jogging towards the pack house.

I barged in the front door.

"FATHER?!" I shouted.

"IN HERE SON!" I hear it coming from the kitchen. I walk in to see him and my mother cooking dinner. Well I say both of them but it's really just my mother. I chuckled as I watched my father cut up vegetables.

"Hi sweetheart." My mom said as she wiped her hands on her pants to give me a hug.

"Hey mom. How was your day?" I asked as I pulled away.

"Uneventful." She stated and laughed lightly.

"What's wrong son?" I looked at my father and grinned. He gived me a puzzled look.

"We found our mate." I said and looked at my mother, still grinning. Her eyes lit up and she squealed. Both me and my father winced as she did.

"OH MY GODDESS! What's her name?! When can I meet her?! What's she like?!" She started going off, not taking a breath.

"Whoa whoa Lisa, honey calm down. Give our boy some time to answer." My father said as he laughed.

"I don't know much yet. Slate sensed her when we were in town and we were able to get her number." I looked at my mother and smiled.

"Her name is Angel." my mother smiled.

"Wait." My father said, I looked at him in confusion.

"Did you speak to Adrian?" My eyes grew wide.

"SHIT! I'm sorry Dad I totally forgot!" I apologized as he closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"It's fine son. He will understand. I'll be back." He said as he walked off. Probably to contact his friend. I looked back at my mother and she smiled.

"Dinner will be ready soon honey. Go message your girl." She winked at me and walked back towards the stove. I rolled my eyes and headed up the stairs to my room.

'CALL MATE?'

'Yes Slade. Call mate.'

I walked into my room and smiled as I shut the door and pulled out my phone.

Angel

We walked into the house, making our way into the living room.

"So what's up kiddo?" My dad asked as he sat down on the sofa, resting his feet on the coffee table. Mom walked up to him and smacked his leg, making him drop his feet on the floor. She sent him a glare and she sat down next to him. I took a deep breath.

Here goes nothing.

As I started explaining what happened that morning, their faces grew worried, then panicked. They looked at each other before my mom spoke up.

"Sweetie. I know this will be difficult to hear..." she started looking anywhere but at me.

"Well?" I asked impatiently.

"You see...we aren't your parents..." she said, finally looking into my eyes with a pained expression. I stood there, shocked.

"WHAT?!" I faintly heard August yell. I could hear them talking but it was as if I was hearing everything from underwater. I stared at my parents with tears in my eyes.

"Why...?" I whispered. They stopped talking and looked at me.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked a little louder. Once again, Mom was the first to speak.

"Well. We were asked not to until the right time. Your real mom was my best friend. One day she showed up at my house asking me to take you. She didn't give me any details..just said that when the time was right, I'd know when to tell you. I always just guessed she was in trouble..." she said sadly. "It was just after she brought you to me that David and I married." She said, Smiling softly at him.

"Did she not want me..?" I asked softly. I felt August place a hand on my shoulder.

"Oh honey. I doubt that's what happened. She must have had a reason." August pulled me into a hug as I silently cried.

"We wanted to tell you soon. But you gotta believe us when we say that you ARE our baby girl. No matter what." My dad said as he stood up and hugged me. I felt my mom hug me also. So I was being embraced by all three of them tightly.

"Anything else?" I ask as I pull away. I watched as my parents looked at each other uneasily. I placed my hands on my hips, waiting for them to answer. My mom sighed and looked at me.

"We're werewolves." She said bluntly. I looked at her and bursted out laughing.

"Yeah sure. And I can fly." I continued laughing until my sides hurt.

"Ummmm... they're telling the truth.." I heard August say from behind me. I stopped laughing immediately and turned around to see her face full of guilt.

"I know because I am too. We are in the same pack." She scratched the back of her neck nervously, waiting for my reaction. I looked between all of them and said:

"Prove it."

They nodded and started walking toward the back door.

"Follow us then." My dad said.

-------------------

We were standing in a small clearing in the woods behind our house. I watched as all three of them started taking off their clothes, though they left on their underwear. I cover my eyes.

"WHAT THE HELL GUYS?!" I screech.

"LANGUAGE!" my mom yells.

"We have to strip or else we will tear our clothes. I guess we aren't bothered by it since it's a normal thing for werewolves." My dad said. "But you need to see this so uncover your eyes please." I peeked through my fingers, then put my hands down to my sides. I watched in horror as I heard their bones break, making their bodies contort into impossible positions. Fur sprouted on their bodies as I watched their face stretch out and their legs get longer. Before I could process anything, three large wolves were standing in their places. Augusts' wolf was a beautiful amber color with black on the tips of her ears and tail. Mom was light brown with white on her paws. And dad was black with white on the tops of his ears and tail.

I stood there for a moment, shocked. I watched as Augusts' wolf lowered herself to the ground, slowly crawling to me. She stopped right in front of me and nudged my hand with her nose and whimpered. I smiled and ran my fingers through her soft fur.

"You are beautiful August." She yipped, jumped up, and licked my face.

"EWWWWW! You bitch that's so gross!" I screamed and wiped my face. I heard laughing and looked up to see my parents back in their human forms.

Wow.

They walked up to me and smiled.

"You took that better than I thought you would." My dad said as he laughed.

"So am I a werewolf?" I asked them.

"If you are, I can't smell it." I heard August say from behind me. I look over my shoulder and she is also back in her human form, fully dressed.

"Oh..." I said. Kinda sad that I wasn't. My mom cleared her throat. Catching my attention.

"But you're not human either." She said with a smile, somehow knowing what I was thinking.
