"What do you mean?"I asked with confusion.
"Your mom was an angel sweetheart. Very rare. But I saw it myself. And from what your mother told me about your father, you're also part demon. I'm not sure of anything beyond that though." She started laughing when she saw my face.
"So I am part Angel and part demon?" I asked in shock.
"Yes sweetheart." My dad said as he laughed.
"Holy shit..." I heard August say. I looked over at her.
"Yeah no kidding." I said and laughed. The light was slowly fading as the sun started to set. I looked at my parents.
"Well that's enough for one day. I'm gonna go to my room. Are you coming August?"
"Right behind you girl." She replied following me back to the house.
———————————————————-
We walked into my room and plopped down on my bed, sighing loudly. August sat down beside me.
"Hey, would you mind if I borrow some clothes and take a shower?" She asked. Without getting up I wave her off.
"Yeah go ahead. Take as long as you want."
"Alright cool. I'll be back." I heard her walk over to the closet before heading to the bathroom and closing the door behind her. I sighed again. Flipping over onto my back and staring at the ceiling.
So much happened today
Suddenly my phone rings, making me jump up. I pulled out my phone to see an unknown number on the screen.
"Hello?" I said hesitantly.
"Hey Angel. It's Xander." My eyes go wide.
Oh my god. He actually called.
"Hey, are you still there?" He asked. Bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah. Sorry. What's up?" I asked. Trying to sound casual. Even though inside I was squealing like a little girl.
"Not much. Just got done eating dinner and was thinking about you." I blushed hard.
"What did you eat?" I asked. Laying back on my bed.
"My family and some of our neighbors had a BBQ." When he mentioned that my stomach rumbled.
Shoot. I forgot to eat dinner.
I jumped up and went to the bathroom door, opened it and stuck my head in.
"Hey. Do you want anything to eat?" I yelled over her music and her showering.
"Nah. I'm good!" She replied before I closed the door and walked out of the room, heading downstairs.
"You didn't eat did you?" Xander asked.
"No. I got a little preoccupied talking to my parents that I forgot." I said as I entered the kitchen. I walked over to the cabinet and pulled out some s'mores pop tarts.
Yummy
"What are you eating?" He chuckled. Hearing me struggle with the wrapper.
"Pop tarts. If I can get this damn wrapper open!" I squealed as it suddenly ripped open. Thankfully I didn't drop them.
"Well that's not healthy." He said. Sounding a little worried. I laughed.
"Hey I'm not much of a cook so I'll take what I can get." I said. Taking a bite of the chocolate goodness.
"Well then I could help with that." I swallowed the bite before responding.
"How so?" I asked. Curiosity spiking and taking another bite.
"Let me take you out to dinner." I inhaled suddenly causing me to start coughing considering my mouth was full. I cleared my throat.
"What?!"
"I know some nice places around my neighborhood if you're willing of course..." he trailed off, waiting for my answer.
"SHE SAYS YES!" August suddenly had appeared behind me and answered for me yet again. I glared at her. She just smiled at me and grabbed a soda from the fridge. I heard Xander laughing.
"Okay, how about tomorrow night. Say 6pm. Sound good?" I nodded then remembered he couldn't see me.
"Y-yes. That's fine." I stuttered out.
"Great. I'll see you tomorrow, beautiful. Good night."
"Good night." I squeaked out and hung up.
"OH MY GODDESS! MY GIRL HAS GOT A DATE!" August screams while jumping up and down and clapping. She laughed when she saw my glare.
"Oh come on. You got a date. And on your birthday no less."
Oh wow. I forgot it was my birthday tomorrow.
"Come on August. I'm tired. A lot has happened in the past couple hours." She nods and follows me upstairs and into my room. I walked to the closet and picked out some pajamas, changed, then flopped down on my bed as August laid down on the other side.
"Good night bestie." She said, Pulling the covers over her body.
"Good night bestie." I said as I felt my eyes getting heavy and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Xander
As soon as I had sat on my bed with my phone ready to call Angel, someone knocked on my door, causing me to groan in frustration.
"Come in!" I yelled. The door opened to reveal my Beta, Jack.
"Hey man, everyone's getting together for a BBQ tonight. Everyone is bugging me to get you to cook." He laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. I got it." I hopped up and slid my phone in my packet.
Soon my little mate. Soon.
———————————————————
I finally walked back into my bedroom after what seemed like hours of cooking. I fell backwards onto my bed before pulling my phone out of my pocket and pulling up Angel's number. I smiled as I hit the call button. It rang a couple times before I heard her answer.
"Hello?" She said hesitantly.
"Hey Angel. It's Xander." I said. Smiling widely. She went quiet. I looked at my phone to make sure the call didn't drop.
"Hey, are you still there?" I asked. Seeming to bring her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah. Sorry. What's up?" She asked.
"Not much. Just got done eating dinner and was thinking about you." I said. I could just imagine her cute face blushing red.
"What did you eat?" She asked.
"My family and some of our neighbors had a BBQ." When I mentioned that I faintly heard her stomach growl in response.
I heard her jump up and open a door. From the sound of it, I'd assume it was the bathroom.
"Hey. Do you want anything to eat?" She yelled over music and the shower.
"Nah. I'm good!" August replied before I heard her close the door and walk out of the room, heading downstairs.
"You didn't eat did you?" I asked.
"No. I got a little preoccupied talking to my parents that I forgot." She said as I wondered what they were talking about. I heard her open a cabinet, then some faint rustling.
"What are you eating?" I chuckled. Hearing her struggle with the wrapper.
"Pop tarts. If I can get this damn wrapper open!" She squealed as it ripped open. I silently laughed at her cuteness.
"Well that's not healthy." I said, slightly concerned. She laughed.
"Hey I'm not much of a cook so I'll take what I can." She laughed.
"Well then I could help with that." She seemed to swallow the bite before responding.
"How so?" She asked.
"Let me take you out to dinner." She inhaled suddenly causing her to start coughing. I sat up quickly in concern.
"What?!"
"I know some nice places around my neighborhood if you're willing of course..." I trailed off, waiting for her answer.
"SHE SAYS YES!" August suddenly yelled into the phone. I started laughing at their antics.
"Okay, how about tomorrow night. 6pm. Sound good?" I asked.
"Y-yes. That's fine." She stuttered out.
"Great. I'll see you tomorrow, beautiful. Good night." I smiled wide.
"Good night." She squeaked out and hung up.
I looked down on my phone with a huge grin on my face.
'WE GET TO SEE MATE!'
'Yes we do. I can't wait.'
I looked up and saw my Beta grinning at me. I glared at him as I stood up.
"Bro. Ever heard of knocking?" As I shoved his shoulder playfully.
"Dude your door was wide open! Not my fault you were too distracted to close it." He laughed and put his arm around my shoulders.
"So.. what's she like? Your dad told me you met your mate. Haven't you brought her here yet?" It was customary to bring your mate to live with you once you met.
"I don't think she knows about the supernatural Jack. I'm not sure how to tell her. But her best friend is a wolf. Probably from the pack closest to us." I said.
"Well you're gonna need to figure something out man." He said as he patted my shoulder and walked out my room.
"I know..." I whispered to no one in particular. Suddenly my phone dinged. I took it out of my pocket and looked at the screen. It was an unknown number. I opened it, seeing it was August.
'HEY! I took your number from her phone. Sorry not sorry :)
Anyways. Just so you know, her birthday is tomorrow. Don't tell her I told you! Nite! :D'
My eyes widened.
'Her birthday? How old will she be?' I replied.
'18' was her reply.
My mate was a year younger than me. But that also means I will have to tell her sooner than later about what I am. I sighed and put my phone in the charger, walked over to the closed to grab a towel and headed to the shower.
Time to get clean for our date with mate.
'I can't wait!' He said. Jumping around in my head.
'Neither can I' I replied, closing the bathroom door behind me.
