Chapter 36 - CHAPTER 35 - I WON'T ENDANGER MY SLEEP BY HAVING YOU APPEAR IN MY DREAMS.

"Little god! Little god! Lucian wake up!!"

Lucian began to stir and slowly opened his eyes, blinking away the sleep.

"What the hell Nate, why are you waking me up??..." Lucian mumbled while rubbing his eyes.

"Because we have training today and am starting to think Arthur is going to punish us if you don't get your ass off that bed..." Nate responded with a frown.

Lucian sat up straight wide-eyed. He had forgotten they had training today and had overslept.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier??" Lucian asked, hastily attempting to get up from bed.

"....." Nate was speechless. It was his fault now??

"I just got here too. Anyway, it feels strange here..." Nate said, looking around.

"You feel something??" Lucian asked, squinting his eyes and putting on his clothes.

"Yhh, but it all went when I smelt your mother's cooking in the kitchen..." Nate answered with a grin.

"Can you be serious...like for once??"

Nate chuckled.

" There's nothing more important than food... "

He stopped when he saw Lucian's gaze turn serious.

"Fine...fine I do feel something strange. It's like the energy here is different. My stomach keeps churning strangely... Maybe am hungry..." He finally said seriously.

Lucian rolled his eyes.

" There's indeed something going on here, I'll tell you all about it when we are out of here... But first, we have to check on Grandmother..."

"Is something wrong with her??" Nate asked with furrowed brows.

"I hope not..."

They got out and met Anna, who was holding a tray with food on it. She seemed to be heading to Liz's room.

"Mother! " Lucian called out.

Anna turned to meet the two boys staring at her.

"Boys, Lucian, you are awake. I've packed your breakfast." She said and pointed to a well-packaged food on the table.

"Mother, is Grandmother fine?" Lucian asked instead.

"Yes, she is... She is just a bit tired and will have to rest for a bit." Anna said. She wasn't lying. Liz was fine now. Last night, she hadn't slept because she knew Liz was at the peak of performing the spell and she feared something might happen to her. She had stayed up and waited for Liz, and when she no longer heard her chants, she rushed to her room only to find Liz collapsed on the floor. She looked so pale that it caused her heart to ache. Luckily, Liz had a lot of mind-relieving pills she had made herself in her bag. So Anna fed her with some and stayed by her side till morning. She had dark circles under her eyes. And those usually bright eyes looked puffy on her pale face indicating she had deprived herself of sleep. Luckily Lucian couldn't see all that. And Anna knew Nate wouldn't mention it to prevent Lucian from worrying.

"Alright, off with your training. Don't forget to take your breakfast. I've packed it for you two..." Anna said and headed to Liz's room with the tray she was carrying.

The boys left the house, and Lucian recounted all about the incidents in his home and also about the sorcery Liz was practicing to protect them from those people after her mother to Nate.

"Wow...sorcery, must be interesting. Little god, your family is one of a kind. The kind we hear in books. But why would your grandfather be after her daughter..." Nate asked, furrowing his brows.

"I don't know. But I think my mother isn't telling me everything..." Lucian said. He had wondered about that too.

"Can't you just read her mind? You'll know everything after that you know??" Nate suggested.

"No...am tempted to. But I promised, remember?? " Lucian answered and sighed.

"Yhh I do. Well, I guess we'll leave it as that for now... Don't worry they'll be fine... I doubt those guards or whatever can get through your grandmother's spell" Nate assured, patting Lucian's shoulders.

" So like the spell has been activated?? Apart from the weird feeling. I don't see anything at all..." Nate continued, looking around.

"I do see it and feel it... Wait...you're not supposed to feel anything since you're human..." Lucian said, staring at Nate with squinted eyes.

Nate tilted his head, he was also wondering why he could feel it. He shrugged " Well, strange things have been happening to me lately"

Lucian grinned.

"Why are you smiling??" Nate asked looking suspicious.

"Don't blame me, am just glad am no longer the only freak here. We only have to announce it to the town. If am being called the devil, am guessing you'd be called Jezebel... Jezebel...wow Nate, it sounds good on you..."

Lucian concluded with a burst of laughter.

Nate glared. " Why Jezebel?? Am not a girl! If there's a name, I prefer Azura..." Nate said, looking smug.

"....." Lucian went speechless.

Lucian and Nate got to their usual training ground and met a straight-looking face, Arthur.

"Ooh no..." they both exclaimed at the same time.

"Looks like I've been very lenient with you two. I even showed up before you today..." Arthur spoke nonchalantly and he started getting the weighted sack bags ready.

Lenient?? That was him being lenient.

"Little god, we are doomed. You must feed me with half of your breakfast as compensation for making me spend half the time waking you up..." Nate mumbled and cursed at the sack bags Arthur was preparing for them.

"Half the time?? I woke up at your first call! " Lucian argued.

"First call?? You wish. I had to say a whole lot of prayers before you woke up. By the way, who were you dreaming of? Was it me?? "

"You?? I wouldn't endanger my peaceful sleep by having you appear in my dreams..." Lucian said and smirked.

"....."

"Alright boys, your sacks are waiting. And they would like you to go the extra mile with them since you kept them waiting..." Arthur said with a devious smile on his face.

The boys cursed, but still carried the sack bag around their waist and started running. Although they felt heavy, it was a little better than the day before.
