Morne didn't spend long deciding what to keep. He tossed every piece of the goblin armor besides the gauntlets, for two reasons.
First, most of it was too riddled with holes to be effective armor. Second, even if it wasn't, Morne had seen firsthand the difference between goblin armor and elf armor in the battle that led to his capture.
It was undeniable that the elves had the superior armor. The same elven spears that shredded through goblin armor like butter could only sink a few inches into the bark of the elves' armor, in the same way that Morne had to hack at one spot repeatedly with his halberd just to get to flesh.
The only reason he kept the gauntlets was because their palms were made of that goblin cloth, which would let him use his plant-heart's thorns if need be.
