He looked at me with a narrow gaze, as if I held the answer to the mysterious knocking on our door at midnight. I responded with a silent nod, indicating that I was just as clueless as he was. He quickly got up from the bed, pulling on his clothes before making his way towards the door. I heard it creak open as he stepped out into the darkness.
"Stay here," he instructed, leaving me alone in the silence of our room.
I took a deep breath and looked around, my eyes landing on my bra lying beside me. I quickly put it on and tied the straps of my black gown around my waist before stepping out of the room, hoping to find out what was going on.
As I turned the corner, I heard a sobbing and pleading voice that made me freeze in my tracks. It was a girl's voice, and she seemed to be in distress. I strained my ears to listen, but all I could make out was Dillon's hushed voice as he tried to calm her down.
"Shh... she's inside," he said.
