I turned around in their arms and saw Jake, my cousin through my stepmom, laying there with his arms around me, confirming my suspicion when I felt an arm wrapped around my waist and saw a familiar skull robot tattoo as I looked down with my sleep-blurred vision.
He let go of me and fell off the bed; on top of James, I burst into a fit of giggles as they both groaned in pain before eventually laughing with my giggles. I must have woken him up when I moved.
I quickly got up and helped them both get off the floor. I immediately pulled Jake into a hug, and James joined in once he got his bearings, causing Jake to wrap his arms around the two of us in turn. Even though Jake is twenty years old, James is sixteen years old, and I am fourteen years old, all three of us have been extremely close since we were children.
I continued to hold on to the hug and said, "I've missed you Jake," while actually tightening my grip on him. "Did you hear about dad?" I asked. Then I questioned, putting my head back so I could look at him. He nodded his head, and I could see that a few teardrops were still on his face.
"I did Rose, I'm so sorry this happened, but we will always be here for you," he said. He told me while bringing James and I closer to him. After that, we let go of each other and went down the stairs into the large dining room. There, we sat down with everyone else who seemed to be aware of dad's death. After we were all seated, mom turned on the television to watch the news after receiving a text from a friend to do so.
"Yesterday, there was an unfortunate RTC that resulted in the tragic loss of Nathaniel Sheppard, who is the ex-husband of the Irish dance Queen, Anya Laird, and the father of the British sweetheart, Serena Rosella Sheppard, who was attending the premiere of her latest project, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Movie." This is a fake report because I don't really watch the news. Please be gentle with me. The Dead Man's Chest at the time of this tragic incident." The telecaster said, as pictures of father with loved ones during that time elapse on the screen behind them, the last picture being of father and I screwing with various instruments along with uncle Imprint stays on the screen.
"Since the family have been notified during an after party for Miss Sheppard's latest projects premiere last night, everyone who was in attendance has taken to social media to share their condolences to the family." Fans and friends who were unable to be there have also responded and sent their own condolences to the family, some of whom have even shared videos and pictures of their memories of the late Nathaniel Sheppard's work or meet-and-greets he has done with his As a picture of dad and the words "1960 - 2006" below his face appeared on the screen behind them, the anchorman said.
After that, as the image started to fade, a few tweets and other social media posts began to appear on the screen. Additionally, videos from YouTube began to appear, all of which were about people's memories of dad.
The final video that came up was one in which dad and I were doing a meet-and-greet with Sophie, Jake, and Sarah in the background. We were laughing about something one of us had said to answer a question from a fan.
"End of the news report": After the news story ended, everyone paused for a moment of silence in memory of dad. Even though it had only been a night, I had been thinking of him a lot and couldn't put into words how much I missed him.
After a few hours, I decided to post a video of me and my uncles Jensen and Mark singing "Every Breath You Take" by the Police in honor of my dad. I presented the idea to both of my uncles, who agreed, and we went into the music room to get everything ready for the video. I took an acoustic guitar and a bass guitar, and uncle Jensen and I took a guitar and sat on a cajon. Uncle Mark was sitting on top
"Every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you," reads the cover of "Every breath you take." While singing, Uncle Mark softly smiled at me as he held onto the hand that was closest to him and sang.
"I'll be watching you every day, every word you say, every game you play, and every night you stay," As my uncles gave me a side hug, I embraced them in turn and sang.
"Oh, can't you see that you are my property?
How your every move makes my poor heart ache. We sang in perfect harmony.
I'll be watching you, "every move you make, every vow you break, every smile you fake, every claim you stake." Uncle Jensen sung, beginning to move a smidgen, and I could see Jake and James giggling at the sight.
"I've been lost without a trace since you left."
I can only see your face in my dreams at night.
I look around, but I can't get you back.
I long for your embrace and feel so icy.
I sung, tears rolling down my cheeks, "I keep crying baby, baby, please..." and held my uncle's hands more tightly in an effort to keep me from floating off into my grief.
"Goodness mightn't you at any point see
You have a place with me?
How your every move makes my poor heart ache. I observed Uncle Mark shed a tear from his own cheek as he sang while closing his eyes.
"I'll be watching you for every action you take, every promise you break, every fake smile, and every claim you stake.
I'll be watching you... I'll be watching you every move you make and step you take.
(I'll be watching you every breath you take, every movement you make, every bond you break, and every step you take.)
I'll be watching you every day, every word you say, every game you play, and every night you stay.
I'll be watching your every move, every promise you break, every fake smile, and every claim you stake.
I'll be watching you every day, every word you say, every game you play, and every night you stay.
I'll be watching you every breath you take, every movement you make, every bond you break, and every step you take. We all softly ended the song with the final note between us three. We were all crying at the same time.
Before starting it up again to include a brief message in the video, we paused the recording.
"Hey all, I wanted to make this cover with my uncles in honor of my dad's passing yesterday; I want to thank everyone who is sending their condolences to my family and myself as well as their memories of my dad and his goofiness; I will take all of these messages to heart and I know dad would love for us all to remember him in the best ways we can; as a result, from this point forward, I am dedicating every single one of my performances to him and to others in the same I said this while still slowly shedding tears.
