MB alighted from the car and opened the door for Kiara, holding her handbag as she stepped out. They walked into the building hand in hand.
"I have to be on my way now," MB said, still holding her hand.
"Okay, will I see you tomorrow?" Kiara asked.
"Well, I don't think I'll be able to see you tomorrow. I have things to catch up with," he replied apologetically.
"I promise to make it up to you as soon as I'm free," he added.
"Okay, I'll be waiting then," Kiara said, forcing a smile on her face.
"Don't give me that fake smile, love. I want you to be happy always," he said, pulling Kiara's cheeks a little. Kiara had no choice but to give a genuine smile.
She hugged him and said, "Give me a text when you get home, okay?"
"I will, love. Tell Erica I said hi," he replied.
It was time for him to leave, so Kiara stopped hugging him.
MB left a kiss on her forehead before departing, and Kiara stood there, watching him make his way back to the car.
MB rolled down the car window and saw that Kiara was still standing in front of the door.
He waved at her and blew a kiss in the air for Kiara to catch, then winked at her. Kiara smiled and waved back at him as he drove away.
After returning to the living room to pick up her handbag, Kiara made her way upstairs.
She opened the door to her bedroom slowly, finding Erica fast asleep.
Kiara smiled and left her bag on the dressing table before entering the bathroom to have a bath before going to sleep.
When she returned to the bedroom, she sat down by Erica without waking her up.
Kiara didn't want to disturb her friend's sleep, so she just sat there, staring at Erica's sleepy face and smiling.
"If not for you, I would have lost my first love, Erica. Thanks for being a best friend and a supportive sister to me, Erica. I love you, and I always will,"
Kiara whispered with a smile. She pushed Erica's hair, which was covering her face, and pulled the cover to tuck her friend in before sleeping beside her.
Kiara couldn't sleep because she was constantly thinking about MB.
She couldn't believe that someone she had despised and hated so much had become her lover.
She kept replaying their first meeting and their argument in her head, which made her smile all night. She realized that she was already missing him.
She picked up her phone and checked if MB had texted her, but he hadn't.
She placed the phone back down, but after a while, she picked it up again, hoping for a message from him.
Unfortunately, there was still no response. She started to worry whether he had reached home safely or not.
Finally, she decided to text him first, but still no reply came. "I hope he's okay," she said to herself, feeling anxious.
A notification popped up and Kiara quickly picked up her phone, as she had been waiting for ages for MB's reply.
She smiled and took a deep breath before reading the message: "I'm sorry for the late reply love... been busy." "It's okay... you had me worried at first, but I'm glad you're okay,"
Kiara replied. "Forgive me for that...." They kept texting until they both got tired. Kiara said good night to him and went to sleep.
MB lay on his bed staring at the ceiling while thinking about his girlfriend.
He needed to plan when to tell her the truth about himself before it was too late. "I just hope she doesn't get angry with me after I tell her everything..."
MB's little sister, Jasmine, entered his room and asked if he was okay.
He replied with a simple "hey" without moving from his bed.
She noticed that he didn't seem okay since he got home and wondered if he was having issues with his girlfriend.
MB turned to her direction and said, "Jasmine, I'm okay and I'm not having issues with anyone, okay?" Jasmine smiled and slept beside him.
"If you're okay, why do you look moody?" Jasmine asked again.
"It's nothing serious. Just thinking about Kiara," MB replied, smiling at his sister.
"Kiara? Who's that?" Jasmine asked, looking curious.
"Yeah...I know you want to know who she is, so don't give me that look," MB teased.
"Since you know I'm curious, then spill it out. Tell me who she is," Jasmine pressed, even more curious now.
She noticed how her brother's face lit up when she asked about the girl, and she wondered if he had started dating again.
Seeing the look on his face, she could tell that he was madly in love again.
"I could tell from your reaction that you're dating again. Am I right?"
Jasmine asked and MB nodded. "Yeah. Her name is Kiara," MB revealed, smiling even more. "That's nice. Can you tell me more about her?"
Jasmine inquired. "She's nice, sweet, beautiful. In fact, she's everything, but very stubborn as well,"
MB described to his sister. "I love her so much," he added. "You're obsessed with her as well. I hope she's not like that girl you brought here," Jasmine teased her brother.
"As for her, I never liked her since the day you introduced her to me... She's such a gold digger,"
Jasmine blabbed out, remembering what her brother had to go through just because of that girl who came into his life because of their wealth.
"Kiara ain't that type. In fact, she's coming from a wealthy home as well and also the CEO of their family business.."
MB informed her. "Oh, that's cool. Then I guess she's not after you because of your money," she said and gave MB a smile.
"Not at all... The truth is, she doesn't know I'm coming from a wealthy home as well and that's eating me up. I don't know how to tell her about it... She will think I lied to her because of my first appearance,"
MB said, looking disturbed. "What do you mean by that?"
Jasmine asked him looking suspicious because she could remember she saw some kind of clothes in his room sometime ago and didn't know why he had that kind of clothes with him.
"I disguised myself as a commoner. So I got to meet her at the bar I was working at," he spilled out, and Jasmine's mouth opened in shock.
"What?!" she exclaimed. "Yeah, I know that was stupid, but I had no choice than to do that," he said, taking in a deep breath.
"Are you crazy?!" she scolded him, pulling his ears. "What if something bad happened to you? Do you think Mom and Dad will be pleased if they find out?"
"Ouch! That hurts," MB yelled out in pain.
"It serves you right. So, what do you plan on doing now?" she asked him.
"I don't know, honestly. I really want to tell her because I don't want to hide anything from her," MB replied, looking at his sister who was also staring at him.
"Bring her over," Jasmine said, looking serious.
"What? No, I can't do that yet..."
"Why?" she asked, giving him a raised eyebrow.
"Because... because... I haven't told her anything about me yet," he answered.
"That's why I said you should bring her over so that she can meet Mom and Dad, and then you can tell her everything. After that, it's simple," Jasmine said, getting MB to thinking.
"How come you have more wisdom than me?" MB asked her.
"It's because you're stupid," Jasmine answered, laughing at her brother.
MB was amused by his sister's teasing and couldn't help but laugh. "You win this time," he conceded, shaking his head. "But on a serious note, maybe you're right. It might be time to introduce Kiara to the family."
Jasmine nodded, pleased that her brother had come around to her way of thinking. "I'll help you talk to Mom and Dad about it," she offered. "They'll be thrilled to meet her."
MB was grateful for her support. "Thanks, Jas. You always know how to make things better."
Jasmine nodded in response to MB's statement. "So, are you bringing her over?" she asked him.
MB lay back on the bed before answering, "Yeah, I will do that but not now."
"When?" Jasmine persisted.
"Why are you so impatient?" MB asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Because I want to meet her and I'm curious," Jasmine replied.
"Why are you so curious?" MB asked.
"I want to know what she looks like," Jasmine said, sticking out her tongue.
MB chuckled and smiled, "Get out of my room, it's late. You need to sleep, and so do I."
He stood up from the bed and gently pulled his sister up as well.
Then he opened the door and pushed her out of his room, playfully slamming the door on her face. "Good night, little one,"
MB said, jumping back onto his bed.
"I hate you," Jasmine grumbled from behind the door as she left. "Such a drama queen,"
MB whispered to himself and settled into his bed. After some time, he drifted off to sleep, with thoughts of his new girlfriend and how to approach his family with the news.
