Chapter 2 - I'm Going Out!

The birds were chirping, and the sun shone brightly through the window. I was sleeping peacefully until...

"GOOD MORNING!"

I suddenly felt a heavy weight on my stomach. I opened my eyes to find the so-called "demon lord" sitting on top of me. From my point of view, I could see her pink underwear...

"Get off..."

"Hm? What did you say?"

"I said... GET OFF!"

"Oh? But Maria said I should wake you up."

Maria, the girl dressed as a maid, was one of her servants. She cooked, cleaned, and took care of my things, just like a typical maid. Her appearance was that of a normal girl, with long brown hair tied in a ponytail, and she always wore a maid outfit.

"Yeah, but please get off... You're heavy!"

She stared at me blankly.

"What...?"

She got up from my stomach, standing on my bed. Then she jumped and prepared her elbow. Don't tell me!? As her elbow made contact with my stomach, I couldn't help but...

"ARGHHH!!"

She got off my bed, gave me a pouty look, and left my room. "A-Arrggh... Receiving an elbow drop in the morning... What a great way to wake up..."

I held my stomach as I got up from the bed and headed out of my bedroom, making my way to the dining room.

"Good morning, Taneshima-sama," Maria greeted me.

"G-Good morning, Maria-san..."

"Hm? What's wrong?" She tilted her head in confusion.

"N-Nothing... Do you know where Scarlet is?"

"Oh? She's holed up in her room with a pouty look... Did you perhaps say something?"

"Yeah..."

"My~ So that's why she has a pouty face."

"Yeah... So what's for breakfast?" I sat down on the chair, still sporting a sleepy face and bedhead.

"It's toast and eggs... We need to restock soon."

"I-I see."

Well, I didn't expect these two to barge into my apartment and start living here. I'll probably buy more from now on.

"Then, Maria-san, could you write down the list of what I should buy?"

"S-Sure, but will your expenses be alright?"

"It's fine, I actually have... 50,000 yen left...?" I said it with a hint of uncertainty.

"So you're not sure, huh..."

"Yeah, don't worry. I'll work hard at my part-time job."

"I'm sorry about living in your apartment." She then placed a plate with toast and a sunny-side-up egg in front of me on the table.

"No worries, actually, it's starting to get lively in my room."

"Is that so? I'm glad... I thought you might kick us out one day later."

"Eh? I won't do that!"

"Fufu~ Alright, I'll go get your school uniform ready and your backpack."

"Thank you!"

She bows to me and walks away to iron my school uniform and prepare my backpack. Having a maid sure is nice... I don't have to worry about a single thing. I nodded in appreciation as I started munching on the toast. It was perfectly toasted, and the crust was so good! I then grabbed the fork from the side of the plate and began eating the sunny-side egg.

A few minutes later, I finished eating my breakfast and placed the plate in the sink. I walked to the fridge, grabbed a glass of water, and took a drink. Just then, Scarlet walked into the kitchen and sat down on a chair.

"Scarlet..."

"Hmph!"

We stared at each other, exchanging glares, but eventually, she looked away and pouted. I guess girls don't like being called "heavy." It's my fault. I sighed and walked over to Scarlet.

"Look, I'm sorry for calling you heavy."

She looked at me and replied, "Yeah, I'm sorry for waking you up in that way too."

I nodded. "Next time, please wake me up in a gentle way?"

She smiled and said, "Yeah! I'll do that."

It seemed like the two of us had made up.

"Alright, I'll go take a shower now..."

"Yeah."

I walked to my room, grabbed my towel, and headed to the bathroom. As I started to shower, I reached for the shampoo and squeezed it, but nothing came out. It was strange. I was pretty sure I had just bought this shampoo two days ago.

"Did... perhaps... Scarlet..." I muttered in frustration.

I gritted my teeth and shouted, "SCARLET!!"

and so I continued my shower, using only the soap to wash my hair. As I stepped out of the shower, I couldn't help but notice that my hair felt rough and tangled. I should buy some shampoo for girls next time.

As I stepped out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around me, Maria approached me.

"Taneshima-sama, I have brought your school uniform to your room, and your backpack is on the bed."

"Oh, thank you."

"You're welcome." She bowed and walked away.

She's so kind and reliable, unlike the other one who acts like a NEET, reading my manga and playing on my PC. I sighed and made my way to my room, ready to change into my uniform. Opening my backpack, I double-checked my belongings. Everything seemed to be in order.

Closing the backpack and slinging it over my shoulder, I left my room and walked past the living room. Just as I was about to open the front door, a voice stopped me.

"Taneshima-sama."

"Human."

I turned around to see Maria and Scarlet standing in front of me. "See you later and be careful," they both said at the same time.

I widened my eyes and smiled as I opened the door and said, "Yeah, I'll be going now!"

I walked out of the apartment and closed the door as I headed straight to my bike and started pedaling. I couldn't help but grin as I pedaled my way to school... I guess being sent off by someone is nice. I should go buy ice cream for them later.
