I snapped out of bed unto the floor shivering, not from the rainstorm beating heavily at my window but from the chill I saw when my eyes were closed.
Afraid?
I was terrified my whole body shook, I just curled myself to a sitting position where I fell and looked at the bed like it was a foe.
The rains beat continuously,
the lightning cut the skies with it sharp claws.
the thunders clapped vigorously with-it sweaty palms.
and finally, the clouds metamorphosed into the face I saw in my dream.
Was it just a dream?
No, it wasn't, my bed had become a poll of oozing spring as water flowed steadily out of it centre but the sheets remained dry all the same.
"What?!"
I thought out loud my shock too broad to hide.
The centre of my bed rose steadily as my heart hit against my rib cage in an endless appeal for freedom, yet it couldn't find any.
If only there was no rain. I wept solemnly eyes still fixed at the point where the water rushed out from.
I sat petrified at the spot I was staring unflinchingly at the rise as it now resembled a man from head to torso covered with the dry bed sheet and water oozing from beneath.
He sat for a while before his head made an anti-clockwise 360 turn to look at me, 'Christ' I muttered scared shit before he leapt towards me.
The lights came on.
"Babe?"
My wife's voice tore through my terrified heart. "Why are you on the floor?"
She was certainly confused, the rains had reduced to a simple mumbling and everything was left the same way it was before I slept, so...
"I'm sorry I must have slipped"
I feigned a laugh as I said these words confused myself at the turn of event.
"And it made you cry?"
She asked eyes fixed on my face, on my face oh shoot it hit me.
"Oh um... Guess it must have been really painful I teared while silently agonizing" I lied.
"Really?" She stretched her hand towards my still curled up body, her face showing clearly that she knew I was lying but she couldn't give an explanation to it herself, "let's go back to bed please".
Her pleading tone for a moment made me forget what had transpired earlier beyond my knowledge yet I said "I'm hungry, guess I'll grab some snacks "
"It's 2:30 AM, what are you, a glutton?"
Her brows frowned as she made the statement, I'm sorry but I couldn't just get myself to climb the bed anytime soon. I thought eyes pleading as I looked back at her.
This dream was just too vivid I was sure and not sure at the same time, maybe I had had to much caffeine last night and... Nah, that's not it but what is?
"I'll join you soon babe"
I kissed her forehead and moved towards the door. Fear was a terrible thing.

As he closed the door to his room and turned his back to it, two eyes opened on the wooden frame of the fine master piece one black and one a pigment that was thicker than blood.
Who's eyes are those?
