Chapter 5 - 5- Origin Somewhat

"Hey good morning" Idalia greets.

Drily he replied, "Morning".

"I made breakfast" She continued looking at him closely. He moves towards the coffee maker without answering her. "I said I made break- ".

"I heard you" He answered his back to her while he made coffee still.

"You acted like you didn't so…" Idalia started.

"Have anything in mind you'd like me to say?"

"Classic Lai, real classic".

"I don't want to fight Idalia, please".

She scoffed.

"I'm trying over here too alright" she says moving around the table in the kitchen. "You haven't even looked me in the eye since you entered this room".

He sighed and turned around; "What do you want me to say to you?"

Laughing drily Idalia says, "I am your wife for Christ's sake Lai, treat me like one". With emphasis placed on the word wife.

"Let's not go to that subject matter please" he told with clenched jaw.

Her eyes widened; "really? Are you for real right now Lai?"

He returns her gaze while he tries to calm himself down.

"Oh… silent again, are we?" Idalia throws at him, "Have I not tried enough for you, have I not?"

"I did not ask you to!" He lets it out finally, Idalia looks at him in surprise. Apparently, this was the first time she had ever heard him raise his voice higher than the normal. "I didn't ask for this, I didn't ask to be this person. I don't even want to be here with you, I don't have an interest with this kind of life, I don't!"

She let out a small gasp, "Lai…"

"I've had enough of people trying to rule my life for me, I wish all this was a lie and I'll never wake up to see you again".

Her breath trembled she looked at him hurt registered in her eyes.

He finally spoke his mind.

"That will be fine by me too" she replied her voice shaking. "Your food's where it is".

"Idalia…"

"Don't please, don't" she replies sharply as she strode out of the kitchen.

His gaze followed her out like a guardian until she was out of the room, then it rested on the food she had kept for him on the table.

Was he sorry for playing the victim here? He asked himself, maybe maybe not… Just maybe he was a bit too harsh with the way he painted the picture.

They were both victims in this, and he knew she was trying her best to make it work out and that's what was putting him off.

Why couldn't she just be the regular kind and ask for a divorce or something he'd do her the favour of serving it than endure this hell called marriage?

Nonetheless

He shouldn't have poured out on her like that; he felt a mixture of hatred and disappointment.

Only if she'd understand he thought as he found his way to the room where she lay, her back to him.

"Going to work"

She didn't reply… "See you when I'm back".

She didn't reply still. He left; he did deserve it though.

------

"Hello?" She answered the receiver.

"Mrs. Bello?" The person on the other end asked.

She almost laughed because the pronunciation of the name was terrible; "Yes?"
