Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : My First Birthday

I turned one year old.

Every day, I crawl around the room at high speed, cleaning up everything in my path.

I've learned how to stand up by grabbing onto walls and columns, and I can even reach some high places now. But every time I clean something up, it quickly reappears from somewhere else, so I'm always busy.

I'm so full of energy that I keep the maids on their toes.

On my birthday, my family and the servants celebrated with me.

Since I'm still eating baby food and just starting to eat solid foods, there wasn't really anything fancy to eat. However, there was a dessert made of soft fruit cooked in milk, which was delicious. It's just a shame I couldn't eat more.

"Congratulations. Letty is growing up to be a beautiful young lady, just like her mother. I've prepared a new dress for you," said my father.

He's usually busy and doesn't get to see me very often, but he really dotes on me. However, I wonder if it's really worth making such a frilly dress just for a toddler. And where would I even wear it?

I don't mind dressing up, but as someone who was a commoner in my past life, it seems like a waste to me. Well, this family seems to be incredibly wealthy, so maybe it's not a big expense for them.

Anyway, I'll secretly wear it and surprise my father.

"My present for Letty is a new friend. Please be nice to each other," said my mother.

Her gift was a big teddy bear that looks like it has antlers on its head for some reason. Maybe it's supposed to go on my bed, so I'll clean it up later.

"... Does Letty like the teddy bear more than the pretty dress?" my father asked.

I immediately went to play with my new teddy bear, so I guess I liked it more.

I think dresses are a bit awkward for toddlers, though.

By the way, my mother is really beautiful, just like my father said.

Her hair is a shiny blond that sparkles in the light, and her eyes are a jewel-like green. She has fair skin, a high nose, and slightly droopy eyes that make her look cute.

She even has an outstanding figure, like she was really born just to have me.

There were only five people in my past life, including idols and actors, who were as beautiful as her.

As for my father, he's a bit chubby.

He has the same body shape as the teddy bear he gave me. He always takes care of himself, so he doesn't look sloppy. His face isn't bad either, but his fat covers it up.

It feels good to pat his belly like a drum.

He has short brown hair and blue eyes. He always has a kind expression that seems to ooze goodness.

I wonder if my mother made the right choice by marrying him?

I can't help but think that, but they're really lovey-dovey. Sometimes they even forget about me and get lost in their own world.

Right now, they're comforting my upset father and have forgotten about me again.

I'm sure I'll have a little brother or sister soon.

While my parents are off being lovey-dovey, the maids gave me presents too.

"Please take care of us from now on, young mistress," said the head maid's daughter, a girl around seven or eight years old who has recently become a trainee maid. She's probably both a friend and a future candidate for my personal maid.

She has unique red hair and always has two braids swinging. She seems to have an energetic impression with her slightly upturned eyes, but when she is with me, she is quiet because the head maid is always with her, and she seems to be strictly disciplined. She shakes me off as an older sister and teaches me many things.

But since I am a reincarnated person, I can understand most of what she says, but a normal baby wouldn't be able to keep up, right?

I received a toy that resembled a small broom.

The handle is beautifully decorated, and the bristles are made of silky and soft animal hair. It is made of lightweight wood so that I can hold it and the handle is short to fit my small palms. It's not practical, more like a brush, but this is my broom.

I'm so happy.

Actually, I was interested in using it to dispel miasma every time I saw it. They remembered that and made it especially for me since they couldn't give me an actual broom.

"...Neecha, aato!"

My heart is so full that when I express my gratitude in the best way possible, the air in the room freezes. My parents, who were lost in their own world, came back to reality.

It's not good that my most delighted gift was from the servants. And on top of that, it was the first time I ever said thank you.

I'm sorry. But I was happy.
