Elliott didn't reply for a long time. She stared out of the window, and strangely, she didn't feel any presence near the window again. She opened the window and breathed in the fresh, cool air. A knock on the door made her heartbeat increase again.
"It's not going to be Elliott," Lauren told her heart, but just the idea that it could be had her palms sweating a little. She looked at herself in the mirror, trying desperately to fix the mess that was currently her hair. She finally opened the door.
Looks like the panic was for nothing, though, because it wasn't Elliott but Hazel carrying a bag of food.
Lauren stared at her and told herself she wasn't disappointed, even as the sudden butterflies in her stomach kind of fell back down with a thud. At least until Hazel whipped her head around to look at Lauren, checking that she was alright.
She entered the room and, just like that, sat on her bed and asked, "Are you fine?" She finally questioned
