Varin scanned over the guards bodies and tilted his head, contemplating something.
'Hmmm? Nice clothes fuckface.'
"Hey Dagen, these lovely gentlemen look like they are about our size and are graciously offering their fits. It would be rude to refuse, heh heh heh."
"Don't worry I'll take the bloody one, I made that mess after all. Come on, get dressed."
Seeing how Varin conducted himself in this situation, Dagen noticed something about his escape partner. His movements and posture looked practiced. He was eerily efficient and composed. Like he's done things like this many times before. And when Varins eyes locked on the target, he became… cold. Dagen felt like he could almost feel the change in temperature in the air around him. Raising many uncomfortable questions in his mind. For now, he chose to ignore those troubling questions and follow Varins lead.
Although a little reluctant to strip an unconscious man of his clothing, he felt little sympathy for the people operating this place. Dagen sighed and admitted:
"It would be nice to wear some actual clothes."
They stripped them of everything, even their underwear, although reluctantly. Varin had been wearing the same shit for 3 weeks now after all, so how bad could this pair possibly be.
Now the escapes were dressed in black thermal long sleeve shirts with gray armor vests and black cargo pants held up by gray tactical belts that clasped like a seatbelt. Their feet, now covered in gray tactical boots that had a small tag that read "waterproof". While their new outfits didn't fit perfectly, they had no complaints, compared to what they were in, this shit was luxurious.
Most importantly, they now had batons and tranquilizer guns.
Varin found a hunting knife in the pocket of Dagens guy and decided to take it. He attached the sheath to the back of his belt, making it parallel to the floor with the handle facing right.
'Hello, steel beauty.'
Dagen had no objections about the knife, he was just happy to have a gun in his hands again. Even if it was just a tranquilizer gun, having it in his hands made him feel less naked and vulnerable.
'Now this is an upgrade.'
Looking down at the unconscious guard, Dagen said:
"We should lock him up. He could cause problems and alert everyone if he wakes up before we're able to leave."
Varin gave him a slightly confused blank stare as he stepped over to him. Crouching next to the guard's body, he glanced up at Dagen and back at the guard. Then, he reached behind himself and swiftly slashed the hunting knife in a perfect arch, slicing the guard's throat to his spine. Blood gushed out to the floor, quickly beginning to form a puddle of the red liquid. Dagen gasped and took a step back.
"He was already unconscious, why'd you kill him!? We could have just locked him in a cell!"
Indifferent to his partner's protests, Varin looked at his blade and grinned.
'Perfect! This bitch glided through his throat, and with little effort. Beautiful.'
'I can say one good thing about the guy, he kept a perfect edge on this blade.'
Standing up, Varin looked at Dagen with all seriousness and said:
"He can't cause us problems if he's dead."
"You can't show these guys any mercy, cause they won't hesitate to kill you or throw you back in that cell to do something even worse."
Seeing Dagen put his guard up against him, Varin decided to soften his tone and smooth himself out a bit, trying not to lose his partner's trust.
*Sigh*
"I don't want to die in this place, and I'd prefer for you to make it out with me. I just value our lives more than the lives of the demons running this place."
Dagen was conflicted. He didn't particularly care about the lives of the people running this place either, but seeing Varin kill 2 guys without so much as blinking unnerved him a bit. Thinking it about it for a second, Dagen tilted his head back and exclaimed:
*Aaaarghhh!*
"Fuck it, we ball!"
'As long as he doesn't point a weapon at me we're good.'
"Let's get the fuck outta here."
Satisfied with that answer, Varin turned to the door and said:
"Alright then. Follow me. Have your tranq gun ready, if it breathes and isn't us, shoot it."
Varin slowly opened the door and took a quick glance left to right, no one was there. They stepped out into the hall and turned back to back, Dagen watched the left as Varin looked right.
This second hall was as long as the cell hall, with them being situated in the middle. The left side of the hallway ended in a left turn, presumably leading to another hall. The right side of the hallway ended in a right turn, but midway down was an opening to the left leading to a different, shorter hall. This is where they needed to go.
Without turning around, Dagen followed Varin down the right side to the midway point. Varin crouched and peaked around the corner, he didn't see anyone but he heard their voices coming from the left at the end of the shorter hall. Right where they were headed.
