Chapter 27 - Seize The Initiative!

D-D was unaware how precise this tracker was, but he immediately assumed the worse case scenario. They possibly knew his exact location, which was bad. In that case he needed the initiative. Throw them off guard.

Watching them split up he only felt his fears were reality. Surrounding the building to assure he couldn't escape. D-D swiftly calculated and made a decision.

Snatching the case he opened the window and slid down the building. The first matter was to get them away from the apartment he was currently living in. He felt grateful that he lived in such a large building, if he was in a house this kind of option wouldn't have been available. Also, it wasn't actually his apartment.

"Sorry Lee! Didn't mean to interfere with your personal life."

Flipping off the side of the wall they landed and sprinted forward. He wanted to make sure they didn't stick around the apartments for much longer. So he intentional ran towards the one he was most familiar with.

Warrell looked up and saw someone sprint past, a beeping sound formed from them and he shouted, "He's running!"

Hail turned and ordered, "No the hell he's not! Errol! Get his ass!"

Bang-!

Dust rose in a shockwave as someone sprinted an inhuman speeds. The one called Errol dashed so fast he started running on the side of a building! Passing D-D he slid to a stop in front, "You're done now!"

D-D didn't stop. Rather he continued charging forward. Errol raised his fists and charged forward, intending to use his speed to stop D-D in his tracks. Unexpectedly as he dashed forward D-D flipped over him easily and continued running. Turning sharply he entered an alley. The rest of the group caught up and turned into the alley.

Staring at a wall D-D looked up. Hail cracked his knuckles, "Dead end eh? Seems this is your end."

Warrell didn't think so. Considering that the location was at an apartment, there was a high chance D-D lived in this area. Even if it was temporary, surely they knew this area? If that was the case then why turn into this alleyway?

As expected D-D turned and laughed, "As if!"

To the shock of the Owl Eye group D-D started to scale the buildings! Jumping back and forth between the walls he effortlessly reached the roof. Peaking over the edge he called, "You're too naive!"

Turning he ran across the rooftops he performed overly stylish flips between the gaps. Slowing his pace he gazed down at the street, "C'mon. . ."

Warrell held the device, "Not yet! He's carrying my package!"

Immediately understanding Hail said, "We'll follow! Go!"

Upon seeing the figures run down the street D-D felt a bit of relief, "Good!"

He picked back up the pace and ran across the buildings down the street. Errol noticed the end of the street coming up and said, "I'll go ahead, he'll have no choice but to go left if he wants to remain on the rooftops!"

"Don't take him on alone!", Hail warned but did not stop him.

Errol took off with a dust blasting shockwave. Curving around the corner he stopped to watch if D-D was actually going left. However to his surprise D-D didn't go left, or even descend! Instead he leapt with grace and landed on the stoplights. With an incredible balance that seemed effortless he ran across the metal poles and leapt to the other stoplight. After a final jump he landed on the building across the street. Errol watched this and mumbled, "What the hell?"

Snapping out of his daze Errol dashed forward. In his incredible speed he eyed the buildings. One of them had a series of stairs and ladders leading up its side to access other floors. To Errol this was an opportunity to stall D-D. With his speed he rapidly ascended the stairs and reached the roof before D-D could approach. He saw his target slow to a stop upon seeing him ahead.

"You've been a pain to catch, but you really ran out of luck this time!"

D-D glanced towards the ground. Although he wasn't as far as planned it was fine. So turning his attention to Errol he spoke, "Seems like it! Guess I give up."

"W-", before Errol could even complete a syllable D-D stepped off the roof and slid down the wall.

Speeding towards the edge he saw D-D sprinting back to the street.

'Damn! I just got up here! Why did you jump off so quickly?! Where do you find this conviction??', such thoughts spiraled through his head.

Helpless he could only speed back down the stairs and continue his chase. Now that he was on the streets however his speed could shine. Easily catching up he extended an arm to clothesline him. Yet to his surprise just as his arm was about to hit D-D suddenly ducked. Errol was a bit unfamiliar with people adjusting to his speed this quickly. Rapidly turning he aimed a fist towards D-D.

It was dodged again! This wasn't a coincidence, this guy was skilled! D-D stepped back and flourished the package, "So! It's just you alone?"

"Me alone? My group is-", Errol's expression suddenly wavered.

He had been mislead! Due to his speed everything else always seemed slower, but D-D actually had sped up significantly when he hit the ground! In his haste to catch up Errol had left his group in the dust, and there was a significant gap between them!

D-D shook his head, "You won't be able to handle me alone."

"I'll make sure to write those final words!", Errol used his speed to close the distance and began swinging.

Lifting the container D-D blocked one of Errol's blows with it. The incredibly tough case made the skin split on Errol's knuckles and a shock crawled up his arm. This pain made him hesitate and his attacks stopped. D-D spun the package and threw it into the air. With his hands free he threw a punch and made contact with Errol's nose.

A single thought formed in his head when Errol received this punch: Strong!

Forcing himself to see through the manifesting stars Errol swung back with incredible speed. D-D side stepped the blow and raised a leg and kicked with a significant amount of force. Errol's voice cried out in pain as he felt a rib crack from the blow. Bending to the side Errol stepped a few times to not fall over.

Jumping and spinning D-D delivered another kick, this time in the air. His heel whipped across and scored a strike against Errol's jaw. Head snapping to the side Errol couldn't withstand the blow and fell to the ground unconscious. Before landing D-D grabbed the package out of the sky and landed calmly, "Alright that should give them the final motivation they need. As for the location. . ."

His brain buzzed about and D-D rapidly figured out his choice. Nodding to himself he began sprinting down the street. After a few minutes the rest of the Owl Eye group arrived at Errol's unconscious body.

Hail lifted him up and felt for a pulse, "That fucker! This is why I didn't want you to fight him alone!"

Warrell found it strange, someone of speed shouldn't have been knocked out so easily. So he asked, "Is D-D strong?"

Hail responded without care, "We don't know his ability. But we assume it has to be a physical enhancement, you saw how he scaled those walls."

"Enhancement to the point of beating that level of speed. . . ?", Warrell fell into thought but didn't speak further.

"You still have his location?"

Showing the device was enough, the small dot on the gps tracker was moving, albeit slowly. Hail nodded, "We can't let him go, but we can't leave Errol here alone."

"I'll take him.", a member offered.

Hail nodded, "Thank you."

Picking up Errol they began returning to a safe point. Now down two members Hail was growing furious, "I'm not about to watch this motherfucker get away again! No one is to fight him alone, understood?!"

The other members nodded grimly.

"Good, we keep moving!"

As they continued chasing the pinged gps signal, D-D was slowing his sprint to an old building. Casually entering he tossed the case to a random corner. Eyeing the place he created several mental simulations of possible outcomes. However this had its limit due to him only knowing two abilities.

First was Errol, who he already took down. The next was Hail, someone who's popularity was quite high in the District. Hail's ability, if the rumors could be trusted, should be a smokescreen. In a dense area like this it was likely Hail wouldn't risk using it, for the sudden change in visuals could benefit D-D more than him.

Pushing a shelf to a wall he continued to calculate his plans. With a frown hidden by his hood and masked he complained, "Too many variables! I really need to get my hands on the database."

Adjusting the furniture more he then place a chair in the direct center and sat on it, "Preparations done, now all that matters is presentation!"

Crossing his legs he placed his hands behind his head. Casually waiting for the group to find his location.
