Rachael's eyes widened with shock as the high priestess's words echoed in her mind. The revelation struck her like a bolt of lightning, sending shivers down her spine. She couldn't fathom how she would be the end of Icarus.
Everything was just a tangled mess within her. The little understanding she had concerning the answers she seeked crumbled down like a house within a few seconds.
"How can this be? I was never the bride of Icarus. Some fucking alternate version of myself is. How… is it…possible I will bring abou… about… the death of Icarus?" The hinge of disappointment in her voice consumed the curiosity in her eyes.
"Alternate version? the high priestess laughed. "You know nothing, Rachael. Don't worry, I'll help you understand."
"Then help me," Rachael pleaded in desperation, as her eyes were filled with tears.
