The Souths were having dinner at the time, so Barend asked Nidia to join them as well. He even prepared her cutleries. The three Souths at the table stared at her, waiting for her to take her seat.
Nidia glanced at the two women sitting there, Elizabeth and Abby.
Both looked as if they didn't expect her to join them for dinner.
"Come, sit down. The dishes are getting cold." Barend said to Nidia in a loving tone, as if he was a caring parent.
Nidia wanted to see their appalled expressions, so she suppressed her dark thoughts. She sat down and picked up the cutleries.
Abby continued to stare at Nidia in disbelief as Nidia turned to Barend, who seemed to be oddly warm-hearted. "Thank you, Dad."
Nidia didn't sound warm towards him at all. In fact, she was quite cold.
However, this was considered an improvement in their relationship as father and daughter.
