DeSean stepped out of the elevator, feeling good in his three piece black Italian suit, white collar shirt, black tie and black brouges. He walked confidently with his hands in his pockets as he nodded to his colleagues who greeted him. He got to his office and entered inside.
His office was large and painted off white with most of the furniture being dark brown. There was a huge window behind his big brown mahogany desk that had a nice view of the busy city. There was an old cassette player which he used to play modern songs. There was a shelf were law books were kept. There was a miniature sculpture of Kairos on his desk, an hour glass, along with some photos of him and his grandma. And there was a painting of Monalisa hung on his wall.
"Good morning, Elsa." He greeted his secretary who was placing a cup of coffee on his desk. She looked at him and smiled. His secretary was a beautiful white lady with long dark hair that was packed in a pony tail. She had blue eyes, her make up was light and beautiful and she wore a red lipstick. She was dressed in a white blouse that she folded at the sleeves, black pencil skirt and white stilettos.
"Good morning, Mr. Savage." She greeted with a smile.
He groaned softly. "I told you to call me DeSean."
"And I don't want to. My life, my choice." She said with an eye roll.
"It's not a request, it's an order. I'm ordering you as your boss and a senior partner of Nicolas & Brett Law Firm." He said with a smirk. She looked at him in confusion and then it clicked.
"Wait, you got promoted?" She questioned.
"Didn't you see the door?" He smirked and she ran to the door and opened it. On the door was written DeSean J. Savage, Senior Partner. She closed the door and ran to him and hugged him making him chuckle.
"I'm so happy for you." She smiled.
"I'm proud of you, DeSean." She mumbled.
"I'm proud of me too." He said and broke the hug. He walked to his desk and opened a drawer and took out a white envelope.
"What is that?"
"This-" He flapped the envelope. "Is me saying thank you." He gave her the envelope.
"It better be good." She said and opened the envelope. She gasped. The content surprised her.
"You like it?" He asked.
"You're the best boss ever. And yes, I'll renew our contract." She said happily.
"You're welcome." DeSean said and walked to his desk and took the cup of coffee and leaned against his desk, looking at Elsa who was still staring at the envelope. He took a sip of the coffee.
"Are you gonna keep staring at the envelope?" He raised a brow.
"It's just too good to be true." She smiled.
"It's true, Elsa." He said
"Thank you once again."
"And you're welcome." He said and his phone vibrated in his pocket.
"Hold up." He said and brought his phone out of his pocket. He had a text message from his boss telling him to meet him at his office.
"It's Nicholas." He said still looking at the message.
"What'd he say?" She asked.
"He said to come to his office." He put his phone inside his pocket. "I'll see you later." He said and left his office. He took the elevator to his boss's office. Nicholas Brett Law Firm was a a very big law firm. It was the number one law firm in the country. He started working there a year after finishing law school.
He came out of the elevator and walked to Nicholas's office. He knocked the door and entered when he heard a faint 'come in'.
Nicholas Lawrence was a middle aged white men with salt and pepper hair. He was quite handsome and was really tall. He had dark eyes and kept a full beard. He was funny and jovial. Everyone loved him. His office was just like DeSean's but larger. His office was painted brown and his furniture were all white. There was a symbol of the judiciary on his desk. There were also photos of his wife and kids.
"If it isn't our ace lawyer." Nick spoke with a smile. He was sitting on the white couch with his legs crossed. He was dressed in a navy blue Italian suit, white collar shirt and black tie with black loafers.
"Good morning Nick." DeSean greeted.
"How are you buddy?" Nick asked as he got up from the couch. He walked to his desk and took a file.
"I'm good." DeSean answered as Nick walked to him with a smile on his face.
"You look good. Congrats on the promotion." Nick said and patted DeSean's shoulder.
"You gave me that promotion." DeSean said with an eye roll.
"I know." Nick chuckled.
"So, why'd you call me?" DeSean went straight to the point.
Nick chuckled. "Always straight to the point. I like that about you, DeSean."
"Thank you." DeSean said.
"Alright, so you know Dave Miller, right?" Nick asked as he gave DeSean the file.
"CEO of Aves & Dave's, our top client." DeSean said and collected the file.
"Good. Dave has a case." Nick said and sat back down on the couch.
"What case?" DeSean asked.
"It's not really him but his daughter's best friend is in a serious mess and he needs us to represent her in court. It's in the file you're holding." Nick said making DeSean frown.
"Why can't you do it?" DeSean questioned.
"Why can't I do it?" Nick asked rhetorically with a smirk playing on his face.
DeSean rolled his eyes. "Yeah. Why can't you do it?"
"Because I have you. You're our ace lawyer. You've never lost a case." Nick spoke in a duh tone.
"If Jimmy hears you say that, he's gonna flip." DeSean said and put his left hand in his pocket.
"But it's the truth." Nick shrugged.
DeSean sighed. "Nick, I can't take the case."
"I already told Dave you'd be handling it and he was happy, so yes you are taking the case." Nick said and put a cherry in his mouth.
DeSean sighed, knowing there's no use arguing. "You better pay me enough."
"It's a lot of money, don't worry." Nick said and winked
"I'm taking your share too." DeSean said with a smirk.
Nick shrugged. "No problem." He got up from the couch with a smirk on his face. "But what do you use the money for? You ride a bicycle."
"It's none of your business." DeSean said and took an apple from the bowl of fruits.
"Okay. They'd be here in five minutes." Nick said with a smirk.
"Have a nice day, Nick." DeSean said and left the office. He sighed, already hating the fact that he has a case. He was an ace lawyer but he was very lazy. He entered the elevator and pressed the floor he was going to. After what seemed like an eternity, he reached his floor and came out of the elevator. He walked to his office frowning as he didn't see Elsa in her cubicle. He opened his office door and the office, closing the door behind him.
In his office was Elsa serving coffee to two ladies who sat on the couch. One of the ladies looked really familiar. One was dressed in a black dress. She was a beautiful blonde lady with gray eyes, light make-up that looked beautiful, high cheekbones, pointed nose and full lips. The other was dressed in a blue dress. She was a beautiful blonde lady with ocean blue eyes, long lashes, cute button nose, high cheekbones and full lips.
"Elsa?" He called making Elsa stop what she was doing and look at him. The two ladies also looked at him.
"Sir." Elsa spoke and walked to him and took him to a corner in the office.
"Who are they?" He whispered.
"The one wearing a blue dress is the daughter of Dave Miller and the other is her best friend." She whispered.
"Okay, so why are they here?"
"Nick told them you'd be handling their case."
"Oh." He remembered now. He was also very forgetful.
"Okay? So I'll be out. Behave yourself." Elsa said and walked to the girls.
"I'll be out now. That's my boss." She said to the girls, pointing at DeSean who stood at a corner watching them.
"Can you please stay?" The girl with the black dress asked.
"What?" Elsa and the girl with the blue dress asked in surprise.
"I'm just not comfortable being with a male." She said looking at DeSean as if she was analysing him.
"Uh-" Elsa glanced at DeSean.
"You can stay, Elsa." DeSean said and walked to stand beside Elsa.
"Good morning." The girl with the blue dress greeted.
"You're a lawyer?" The girl with the black dress questioned. Everyone looked at her like she was crazy.
"Of course I am." DeSean simply said.
"Since when did misogynistic piece of trash start being lawyers?" She said, her voice laced with hate. DeSean stared at her for sometime trying to remember where he saw her face. Then it clicked. She was the beautiful blonde that called him a misogynist.
He smirked. "Oh it's you." The smirk left his face and got replaced with a frown. "The naive bitch."
