Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Case Closed

"You can walk yourself out. I'm not handling your case." DeSean spoke and walked to his desk.

"Gladly. I don't want a misogynistic bastard to be my lawyer. Let's go, Chris." Mercedes said and got up from the couch. She took her handbag and left the office. Elsa and Christy exchanged confused looks.

"I'm sorry. I'll go get her back." Christy said to DeSean.

"No need. Tell your father I'm not handling the case." DeSean said and sat on his big swivel chair.

"What? You have to, Mr Savage." Christy got up from the couch.

"I don't want to." DeSean said and went through his phone.

"You're the best lawyer in the country-" Christy started.

"If you're done talking, please leave." DeSean interrupted. He looked up from his phone and saw Christy already looking at him.

She sighed. "We'll be back." She took her bag and left the office.

"What the hell was that DeSean?" Elsa yelled immediately the door closed.

"Ay, watch your tone, Elsa." DeSean frowned.

"Sorry, but what the fuck just happened?" She questioned.

"You don't cuss in my office, Elsa." He warned.

"Fuck that. Do you know what you just did? Aves & Dave's is our biggest client. And you just turned down their case?" She said with annoyance and he glared at her. He was about to say something when the telephone on his desk rang.

"Hello?" He spoke tiredly as he put the phone on his ear.

"My office. Now!" Nicholas ordered angrily from the other end and hung up.

DeSean sighed.

"Have fun explaining to Chief." Elsa said and left the office. DeSean sighed and closed his eyes.

"What do you mean you can't handle the case?" Nicholas questioned angrily immediately DeSean entered his office. He was standing in front of his desk.

"She-" DeSean started.

"We had an agreement, DeSean. You take the case and I'll give all the money." Nick said and walked to DeSean.

"I can't handle it." DeSean simply said.

"Dave hasn't blown up my phone yet cause he knows I'll handle this situation. I don't want him on my neck, so you're doing the case and that's final." Nick said with finality.

"Nick-" DeSean started.

"If you object, I'm demoting you ." Nick said with a smirk.

"What? You can't do that." DeSean frowned.

"Try me." Nick said and walked to his desk.

"Nick, you can't-" DeSean started again making Nick turn to look at him.

"It's Sir." Nick said with annoyance. DeSean sighed in defeat. He knew Nick was very angry.

"Now leave." Nick said and went to his chair and sat down looking at DeSean with a frown on his face.

"Have a nice day, sir." DeSean said and left the office. He went back to his office and saw Elsa sitting on the couch.

"You know you have your cubicle outside my office right?" He said and she rolled his eyes at him.

"You do know I'm your boss, right? You don't roll your eyes at your boss." He said as he walked to his desk and sat on his chair.

"How do you know Mercedes?" She asked, looking at him.

"Who's that?" He questioned as he took a yoyo string from his drawer.

"The girl you exchanged words with half an hour ago." She said in a duh tone.

"Oh. We met at a club." He sounded bored as he played with the yoyo string.

"Did you hit on her?"

"Ew, no." He scrunched his face up in disgust.

"She's not ugly, why'd you say ew?" She raised a brow.

"Her personality is ugly." He stated as a matter of fact. "She called me a misogynistic piece of trash when we met at the club." He added.

"Like your personality isn't ugly." She mumbled under her breath.

He rolled his eyes as he heard her. "I heard that, Elsa."

She ignored what he said. "So why did she call you a misogynistic piece of trash?"

He stopped playing with the yoyo string. "A'ight, so I was in the bar, sipping my Martini when I got a text from Kentrell-" He started.

"Aw, Kentrell. I miss him. How's he?" She interrupted which made DeSean glare at her.

"He's good. So you know Kentrell's been telling me I have a permanent sad face and he wants me to laugh, so he texted me some dad jokes that weren't even funny and that's what got me into this mess with that girl." He narrated, frowning at the memory.

"How?" She asked.

"He texted me women are supposed to tell mom jokes not dad jokes and I read it aloud and then that girl attacked me. She called me a misogynist and stuff." He explained.

"And you called her a naive bitch."

"Yes, cause she started it." He said and continued playing with the yoyo string.

"So what did Nick say?" Elsa asked.

"What else?" He shrugged and turned his swivel chair around.

"So you're doing it?"

"I have to." He said and closed his eyes.

"Okay. Let me know if you need anything." Elsa said got up from the couch.

"Yeah." He nodded and Elsa left his office. He sighed opened the file that Nick have him earlier. It was all information on Mercedes. Her full name was Mercedes Lexington. She was twenty one. He scoffed at her age. He thought she was at least twenty five. His eyes went to her contact information. He thought of calling her but decided not to.

"Fuck it. Lets get this over with." He said and dialed her number on his phone and called it. He listened to it ring. She picked up after the third fourth ring.

"Hello?" She spoke. Her voice sounded so smooth.

"This is DeSean Savage. Come to my office." He went straight to the point.

"The misogynistic lawyer?" She questioned.

He sighed in tiredness, not ready for any argument. "I'm not a misogynist. Come to the office, let's talk about your case."

"I'm not working with you, DeSean." She said stubbornly.

"Yes, you are. Be here in thirty minutes. Case closed." He said and hung up.

"She's a real pain in the ass." He said with a sigh.
