Sullivan set Jack to rest with his back to one of the crystalline trees at the edge of the black forest. The injured hunter gritted his teeth and held his breath as the Leader adjusted his sitting position.
Since bursting through the edge of the forest, his body had been losing more and more energy to do anything, so Sullivan helped him sit. In this position, his breathing visibly got better… not that it would make him better.
"Why isn't his body disintegrating?" Ace asked.
"That happens when your mind gives up. The TDC will send you out and heal you if you get fatally wounded regardless of one's mental state.
…however, if you decide to forfeit because of the pain, it will send you out just as well," Donny explained in a sombre tone, "Jack right there… is holding on with everything he's got."
Sullivan ignored his friends and locked eyes with the wounded hunter, "You mind telling us what happened in detail?"
