Chereads / Thunder Demon: Strawhat Luffy (One Piece) / Chapter 45 - Reverse Mountain

Chapter 45 - Reverse Mountain

It's been an hour since the crew left Logue town and is currently sailing towards the Grand Line. Usopp was guarding the wheel while Johnny and Yosaku were on the observation post, just in case.

Zoro was sitting on the shaft deck of the ship with Luffy cleaning his sword, Nami and Nojiko were looking at a map of the Grand Line, and Sanji was in the kitchen storing the things he had bought. Luffy was drinking whiskey while looking up at the sky filled with thunderclouds.

It wasn't a cloud he made; it looked like a real storm was coming at them, but Luffy didn't mind. They had a tailwind from the time they left Logue Town and would likely be out of the storm before it even started.

Luffy was about to take a sip of his drink when suddenly Nami screamed, startling everyone and causing Luffy to spill some of the whiskey on the floor.

"AHHHH!" Nami screamed Luffy looked at her with a cold look in his eyes before he spoke.

"You better have a good reason for making me spill the whiskey," said Luffy in a cool tone that made Nami sweat a little before she nodded her head. "Haahh, what's that?" Luffy asked with a sigh as Sanji and everyone else ran to see what happened to Nami.

"I was looking at the map of the Grand Line that I stole from Buggy, and it says here that the entrance to the Grand Line is a mountain," she said, causing everyone's eyes to widen except for Luffy's.

"A mountain?" Zoro asked while looking at Nami. Should we crash into it? Zoro asked, causing Luffy to look at him like he was stupid.

"Are you serious?" Luffy asked while looking at Zoro. crashing into it? Does that sound like how you enter the Grand Line? Or does that sound like how you'll die? Luffy asked rhetorically, causing Zoro to look away in embarrassment.

"So how do we enter the Grand Line?" asked Sanji. Luffy took a sip of his drink before answering.

"We're sailing up the mountain," he said, surprising everyone.

"The ship can't sail up the mountain!" Usopp's words caused everyone to nod their heads in agreement with what he was saying.

"Give me the map, Nami," said Luffy, holding out his hand. When he got the map from Nami, Luffy sat down on the floor in front of them and started explaining how it worked.

"You see this mountain here?" he asked while pointing at the mountain in the center of the map. They all nodded and paid attention to what he said.

"That mountain is part of the Red Line and is called the Reverse Mountain." "Currents from all four seas flow up the mountain and into the Grand Line," he said as he traced his finger on the little blue lines that represent currents going up the mountain. Everyone's eyes widened when they heard that information.

"But that's impossible; currents can't flow up the mountain," said Nojiko, staring in disbelief.

"In the normal world, no, but this is the Grand Line," said Luffy as he rolled up the map and looked everyone in the eye before continuing. "If you go into that ocean and try to use logic to explain everything that happened there, you will go crazy," he said before handing the map back to Nami.

"There's nothing sane about that ocean." "One minute it's raining, and another second it's snowing, and two seconds after that, hailstones the size of ships are falling from the sky," Luffy said, causing their eyes to widen and their jaws to drop.

"Y-you're kidding, right?" she asked.

"No, well, I saw those things in the New World, but it could happen in Paradise too," he said, relaxing them a bit. "By the way, Nami," said Luffy, getting her attention. "Did you and Nojiko buy the log pose?" he asked, causing them to nod.

"Yes, we bought it, but why do we need it?" she asked.

"That's how you navigate the Grand Line; normal compasses don't work there," Luffy said, surprising them.

"Don't lose it or we will all die," he said, causing Nami to nod her head vigorously. "By the way, what did you all buy while you were there?" he asked.

"I bought some fresh vegetables to cook healthy meals and lots of meat," Sanji said, causing Luffy to nod. "I also bought some new pots and pans for the kitchen and a few more knives, but the best part is that I won the bluefin elephant tuna in a cooking contest," she said happily.

Luffy looked at him with an amused smile on his face before he spoke.

"I'll be looking forward to eating it," said Luffy before he looked over at Usopp to hear what he was buying.

"I bought these new glasses," he said, pointing at the glasses on his head. "They will help me achieve my target better," he said, causing Luffy to nod his head and wait for him to continue.

"I also bought some chemicals to experiment with so I can make my catapult attacks more lethal, so that pirates and marines everywhere will be scared when they hear Captain Usopp's name!" he shouted while pointing at the sky, causing everyone to chuckle before looking at Zoro.

"I can't say I bought these two swords because that person gave them to me for free," Zoro said, surprising everyone.

"Why would someone give you two swords for free?" Sanji asked, causing Zoro to take the sword from the red scabbard before he could speak.

"It was because of this sword that he gave me two swords for free," he said as he showed them his sword. Luffy looked at the blades and narrowed his eyes at them.

"But why?" asked Nojiko while looking at the sword.

"Because it's cursed," said Luffy while looking at his sword. Everyone's eyes widened when they heard that. "That's one of Kitetsu's swords, isn't it?" Luffy asked, causing Zoro to nod.

Kitetsu's sword? Usopp asked with a curious expression on his face.

"There are three Kitetsu swords, and all three are cursed." "Once they are removed from their scabbards, they must shed the enemy's blood, or they will take their master's blood," said Luffy, scaring them all.

"That's the myth," said Luffy with a chuckle. "What did they buy?" Luffy asked Zoro while pointing at the bounty hunter duo on the watchtower.

"I thought they were going to buy swords, but they both bought bisentos instead," he said, surprising Luffy. Luffy won't complain; if that's what makes them comfortable, then so be it. He then looked over to Nami to hear what she bought.

"I bought new clothes and shoes," said Nami happily, causing all the boys except Sanji to roll their eyes. "I also bought high-quality chart paper and spare ink and pens for charting," he said, causing Luffy to nod his head before looking up at Nojiko to hear what he was buying.

"I also bought clothes and shoes with Nami, but I also bought this three-piece metal staff," Nojiko said as she took out the staff from behind her and showed it to everyone. It was a silver staff divided into three parts, while a chain linked each piece together.

Luffy hypothesized that it could be used as a staff and as nunchucks, and if Nojiko added haki to it, maybe the weapon could become lethal.

[Like Ban's weapon from the Seven Deadly Sins]

"Good, you better practice how to use it," Luffy said, causing Nojiko to nod her head before putting it down. "Usopp, take the helm and say when the current is so strong you can no longer steer the ship," Luffy said, causing Usopp to salute and run to the helm.

"Sanji, I'm quite hungry; can you go and prepare lunch?" Luffy said, causing him to nod and head towards the kitchen. "And all of you," he said, getting their attention.

"I'm sure you all still have some training to complete," he said, causing them to run over and grab their blindfolds and walking sticks. Luffy poured himself some more whiskey before looking up at the sky.
