Adriana was strolling along the corridor early that morning, just before breakfast when she crossed paths with Janice. Overlooking Janice's usual indifferent behavior, she smiled. "Janice! How are you doing over here?" She asked.
Janice felt a little awkward standing in front of her dressed in the servants uniform. "I'm doing really good, thanks." She said.
"And your mother?" Adriana probed further.
Janice nodded. "Yes. She's doing quite well too." She bit down on her lower lip. Janice didn't like Adriana, but that wasn't enough reason for her to be an ingrate. She reasoned, yet she still hesitated. "I'm really grateful for what you did for me. And for my mother too." She finally said, nearly choking on her own words. "You barely know us, yet you were willing to help us out. No one has ever actually done something like that for us before." She said, then she hesitated even more. "Thank you." She finally said.
